As a Catholic and big fan of yours, I was so happy to see your purchase. Take care of it, it's most probably blessed. It would take too long to explain the rosary but you can fine the rosary prayers online. Youre so adorable in that hat ❤
My grandmother brought me a sterling silver rosary from her visit to Paris in the 1960's. I still have it. My parents were antique silver dealers...if you can take a pic of the mark, I could tell you whether it is sterling or not. It's a beautiful rosary. The rosary can be complicated. It is based on the meditation of the sacred mysteries. There are 20 mysteries in 4 groups ( 5 in each). These 5 are represented in each decade of the rosary. ( Notice that you have 5 groups of 10 beads, followed by a single ). You choose which group of mysteries you want to meditate: Joyful, Sorrowful, Luminous or Glorious. Begin with the sign of the cross with the cross on your rosary. Say the Apostles Creed, first bead is the Lord's Prayer, then 3 Hail Marys, then the Glory be on the chain, the first mystery begins with the Lords prayer, then 10 hail Marys, glory be on the chain...and so on. In France, they may also say the Fatima prayer after each decade.
Thank you for this explanation. I’m not a Catholic, but like Ryan, purchased a silver rosary many years ago. I recently came across it again. Your explanation of the mysteries is intriguing to me. I like those qualities being connected to my piece.
That cross is exceptional, love the design. Do we see Billy unload those gorgeous wood columns in a future episode? I'm getting that same feeling when he first saw his nice library.
That rosary is indeed very special. I can see why you will cherish it forever. The fact that it was such a bargain only adds to it’s rare beauty. I have a lovely silver cross dating back to early 1900s that I got from my mom. Although it may not have huge monetary value, it is my one of my most cherished items because of the history and memories that I wear with it!🥰❤️
They are called Rosary beads, Ryan. There five sets of ten beads, called decades. You say a Hail Mary prayer for each bead and a Lords Prayer for the bead in the middle, I’d love to have that
You are such a genuine and lovely guy Ryan. That Rosary will give you love and peace, as it was probably blessed, as Kathy Taylor says. Blessings and love to you, from Jilly & rescue greyhound Madge, from sunny Devon (for one day only) xxx
Ryan, what a beautiful rosary. Such a bargain too. That first shop was so clean definitely an antique shop and not a brocante. Thanks for sharing with us.
Silly person, the charm of the hat is that it doesn't fit. It is adorable. I am so happy that went to someone who would truly appreciate it. Blessings, Ryan. 🧡
Hi Ryan, the Rosary is beautiful, I have them all over my house and one in my car. I am watching every advert for you hoping you can get your wind screen sooner rather than later. I had a blast watching this video.
I loved the music at the start of your shopping Ryan, it seemed to fit in with your Top Hat look and was quite a whimsical and catchy tune! I love your sense of humour and you can be humerous without even trying - such as when you are egging Billy on for a thumbnail photo! Congrats on the ‘only one take’ video Ryan, you are enjoyable listening for me and countless others on this channel. Well done, I love the Rosary purchase too and I would still have thought it lovely even if it hadn’t been Sterling Silver, it’s so beautiful.👏🙏🏻❤️
Beautiful find, Ryan. I have a rosary hanging in my house that came from Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where visions of the Virgin Mary have been seen, giving comforting messages to the world, since 1981.🙏❤
Love the rosary. I am a fond and consistent user of my own. It’s probably been the instrument of many contemplative prayers. Hope it brings you blessings! It’s a real beauty.
Billy wasn’t into the fun now 😂 he was still looking around.😂. Congratulations on your rosary. Are the beads themselves sterling? Cleaned up it would be fabulous. You just need a cleaning cloth to polish it up or you can use a toothbrush and baking powder with warm water. Works like a dinger!! I do beaded jewelry design, and I use that all the time. Congratulations. I was thinking that you got a trunk. Because you do love them so. Glad you and Billy had time to get out and play. after the week you’ve had you needed it. And thank you for the beautiful video. Beautiful editing and great music. Love from me.💜🤟🏻🤗🦔🇺🇸
The French antique shops are wonderful, but the problem is getting the goodies home, a formidable expense when home is in Australia! Congratulations on the crucifix. It is very beautiful. I was expecting you to have bought the trunk! LOL!
Great job Ryan. Keep those "one takes" coming. Really enjoyed seeing the shop. Such lovely, old items. I actually have a silver purse similar to the ones you saw. It belonged to my grandmother. They were popular. Hope to see you soon. Wishing your mum and dad all the best.
Ryan, loved the property search video! And this is Also a great look at shops I would love to shop!! I love the rosary! Fantastic find! No, you don't need a reason to keep that rosary..God bless you and love you lots Ryan! Billy too....Love from Phoenix Arizona 🏜️❤
Great purchase, Ryan. I have a few rosaries, one is all sterling silver, another is crystal and sterling and another one is wood and 14 carat gold. I’ve had them for most of my life, and they will be passed down to my three children. xx
Hello, Ryan! I am sure you can find a book or pamphlet on-line explaining how to pray the Rosary. If not, I will be happy to explain it ... I just don't want folks to make unkind remarks that I sound "preachy" ❣
Congrats on the special find, Ryan, it's a finely crafted piece of art!! Here are the Roman Catholic prayers: The Apostles Creed, The Our Father, The Hail Mary, The Glory Be to the Father, the prayer known as the Fatima Ejaculation, the Hail, Holy Queen, The Rosary Prayer at the conclusion and sometimes the prayer to Michael the Archangel. And there are additional prayerful meditations for each section which change depending upon the day of the week. Yeah, Roman Catholicism is complicated. And I agree with the lady who posted that this Rosary is probably blessed and to take care of it. Wearing a Rosary around the neck simply for ornamentation is not sanctioned by the Roman Catholic Church. Chuck in Northern New England
I love the opening music. I found this - Many religions use prayer beads while meditating or praying. The Christian version of prayer beads is called a rosary. The term "rosary" comes from the Latin word "rosarius," which means bouquet or garland of roses. Catholics use a 59-bead rosary. Anglicans and other Protestants use a 33-bead rosary.
@@samanthabloggins1775 High Church Anglicans do, but it's definitely not common. I grew up with a Franciscan monk as our vicar, he was Anglican and High church. But we didn't say the rosary, just knew about it. :)
@@samanthabloggins1775 I am Catholic, so yes, I have a rosary, and I have seen Anglican rosaries being sold in Antique stores but never actually known anyone who used them as prayer beads.
I don't think the shop owner's that don't want you to film, are not hiding anything, or suspicious. I think they have to be cautious about people taking stock of their inventory, accessing the value of items, and coming back later to steal. Unfortunately, we in the States, are suffering from the smash and grab in anyone's store.
@@eletakelley7188 In the States, you CAN video or take pictures from the public sidewalk. However once you go into the store owner's establishment, they have every right to deny anyone wanting to take pictures or video of the contents, due to prices and the layout of the establishment, to avoid any competition by other shop keepers. I enjoyed going into establishments, video or not, I respect their decisions.
Wonderful find! That Rosary could be very special! The Fleur-Du-Lea symbol, was once considered rare, and special in some parts of France. Not to be made, or given in abundance. I would look into that treasure more! Well done!
The Fleur - de - Lys/Lis is a lily and is particularly associated with France, notably during its monarchical period. It has been used to represent saints of France. The word 'Fleur' means 'flower' while ' lys/lis ' means lily. This symbol appears on your rosary after the beads directly attached to the cross.
Lovely rosary, Ryan. 15E is a bargain if it is solid silver! You pray 10 Hail Marys, and a Glory Be and Our Father on the bead in between. It's a way of helping you focus and mediate and pray. Love these little trips. If you can't go to France it's the next best thing! I saw all the thimbles! I love a good, silver thimble for sewing. Most people have no idea how useful they are when sewing and the old, silver ones are better than the cheap-o-ones from Walmart. I have one from Toulouse but it is a little big for my finger. But a good souvenir of southern France!
I love it! Born in 1966... the year of that poster... also my Mother had a silver purse like that... was her grandmothers. I also love those columns ... What a lovely rosary. I've never owned one myself ... but that is very lovely.
That is truly a bargain and absolutely lovely. Despite many people doing it, the rosary is not a necklace and is not to be worn. The reason for the circular shape is because it is used to pray a cycle of prayers
I love when you go antique shopping with Billy ❤ Antique shops in the shops near me are priced up to the max knowing their worth..no bargains here..we have to go to flea markets.. what you call boot sales..I live in Massachusetts.. I make rosaries out of olive wood beads and Crystal's 🙏💜
The rosary is beautiful and definitely something to treasure! My grandmother had several coun purses and purses like those in your video. I loved the feel of them and would mess with them for hours as a kid.
Such fun Ryan, I loved seeing the little Antique Shop and all the wonderful antiques and vintage treasures. Your Rosary is certainly a find. I would treasure such a beautiful piece too.
Ryan your solid silver rosary consists of: each single bead on their own is the OurFather and Glory be. All ten beads together between the single beads are the Hail Mary's. Bernadette. I love your channel by the way
I love your rosary! It just made me remember that I have a strand of sterling silver rosary beads that were my mom’s and she got them at a street sale when we were visiting in Paris! I need to find them❤.
10 Hail Marys five times with One Our Father in between four times. Families in Ireland used to go down on their knees every evening to say the rosary. As a child I remember making sure to leave their homes before they began to pray it took forever 😅
Regarding camera recording in stores, we get by just saying " it's free advertising " and almost everytime they will say " ok, go ahead " it hasn't fail yet. Try it.
Very touching to what you got and know that the Rosary picked you. Our Lord and His mother are with you. Looks of how to say the rosary online and even apps for your phone.
When I was about six and my older brother was 10, my parents went to the 6 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning and then they dropped off my brother and me at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. My brother was always trying to get me into trouble so one Sunday after Mass he told my parents that I had put my rosary around my neck like a necklace during Mass. It was a complete lie but I still got into trouble. Believe me, I got him back a couple years later when I would use practicing my piano lessons as a means to get my mother to insist my brother turn off American Bandstand on t.v. so it didn’t disturb my “music”. 🤣 My brother served in the U.S. Army in France for two years in 1963/64 after he was expelled from both the Catholic high school and then the public high school. He was definitely a handful.
Ryan - perhaps get a box frame for the rosary to keep it safe and displayed .I like the " topper " Perhaps wear it every now and then for your vlogs. How old is your parents home ? I like the clean exposed stone wall of your room .
