vividly remember this match as if yesterday:).. My Dad locked that Dyanora CT21 B/W TV stand (it used to have sliding door with lock) since next day was exam. After he left, I lied to my mom that I have cough+fever like symptom and need cough syrup.. ran to medical shop knowing that they have the small color TV and can watch the match.. Watched the whole match standing outside the shop along with many others... first match for me watching Azharuddin.. Never thought that thin frail young man would win the match for India!! Later my Dad traced me to the shop and I stil remember begging him that I will get the slap at home after the match.. He also ended up watching with me.. Ha Ha ha.. lovely days....

Azharuddins batting was a combo of gundappa vishwanath+ Greg Chappel + zaheer Abbas . And his grace was that of David Gower. He was a batsman who when he got going, it was almost impossible to get him out. He was never boring, kept playing his natural game in any condition. His fifty to hundered conversion rate was the best among any India cricketer before him .At that time only Don Bradman boasted of this conversion rate. Now of course Virat Kohli is there for India.

When azhar walked in to bat,he already had 25 runs saved on field which no other fielder in the world would have saved.He was a sight to behold and his fielding particularly between 1985 and 1992 was unparalleled....all cricket conoisiurs would agree.

Kannan Ramachandran lol. Azharuddin is way better than any other batsman of India even including with kohli, tendulkar too. In fact, very few batsmen in the world have such skills like azharuddin. (And, u r comparing vvs laxman’ batting with azharuddin batting! Really???) If cricket is the art, azhar will be the example. Look at his footworks (both fronts and backs), wrist and body movements, all are just phenomena, like he is dancing on the pitch (by making the rooms for playing the balls). It was just eye catching and tremendous performance. Look, how much comfort was there in his batting against both pace and spin bowling attacks! And, yes, he ruined his own career by doing match fixing. So, you, the new generation have been missed his batting (if you see his ball by ball facing at the crease, you would realise this is cricket, the true beauty of the game). In left handed, Lara is another example of stylish batsman.

Mohammed Azharuddin... wow. omg what a player he was for India, and in World Cricket. Absolutely Immense. Wristy, but could also hit you out of the park if he fancied it. Class act he was. IT was his ability to bat and play shots using them wrists, I mean he was a very interesting and talented batsman for India and the game at his time, quite unique imo. He was a BEAST with the bat at his absolute best. A Legend of the game imo no doubt about it.

Azhar was most stylish batsman of his time. His offside shots a d wrist movement was beautiful. Indian youths were crazy to adopt his style of batting.I was a big fan of Azhar's batting. He was only person got retained in Indian team for a long time during his out of form period

Who knew watching this match that one day azharuddin would become the captain of Indian team infact one of the most successful captain of all time.azharuddin was the best captain of India team.Dhoni and gangualy were the captain of best Indian team but azharuddin was the best captain of India team.Match fixing scandal ruined his carrer and under the influence of that people have forgotten his all the contribution that he made to the Indian cricket.Few people are saying that Sachin never played well under the captaincy of gangualy and dhoni.They have to understand one thing that with the time reflexes of a person becomes slow and performance can not be as much as effective by the time he started playing.Sachin started his career under the captaincy of azharuddin and azharuddin gave him a full chance to grow not only in batting but bowling as well.sachin had given best of his batting under azharuddin.
