Barry is older, taller than the twins and wrote the music (at his time alone), I don`t believe, that there are many talented teenagers, which would have taken their little brothers on stage with them. Here you can see, how humble and familiar he was as a teen!!!
Barry was only 3 years older. Love your reactions. You have come from a Bee Gees novice to devotee and I love it! It's like being invited to join the family. They have that effect. Barry, all of about 9 or 10, said that they were going to be famous. Mo said they went along cos he was the big brother but they knew they had to work for it. They never took themselves too seriously either. Never be anything like them again.
Since the beginning Barry was the heart and soul of Bee Gees. It's touching how he included his brothers in his dreams that came true. Barry is a good example of resilience.
Their father Hugh acted as their manager back then...and their biggest critic. One of his biggest complaints was about Robin's hair LOL though it looks fine here. Looking at this video one would never have guessed that these three would one day become the sexy, opened jacket, tight white satin pants wearing, insanely talented and adored by millions of red blooded females around the world music geniuses....would they? But they did, I was there LOL Good to see you Chad!
This is the first time The Bee Gees we’re ever on TV!! There first public performance was at a movie theater where kids used to lip sync to music before the movie started. They signed up to lip sync but Maurice dropped the record they were going to perform to so they were not able to lip sync. The theater decided to let them sing so they performed Lollipop! These men were all savants born with perfect pitch! Barry was 11 in this performance and the twins were 9. Barry did an interview with Piers Morgan after the twins passed where he did a lot of explaining about their lives and careers. I think you would love it!
No Barry was born in September 1946 he was turning or turned 14 in 1960 and the twins were born in December 1949 so they would be 11 around Christmas 1960.
All three of them look absolutely adorable in this clip - and as always, the consummate professionals...💖💖💖 Sir Barry (13 years old - almost 14... and standing on a step...) towering over the twins (turning 11 in late December, 1960...). As children, Maurice was just slightly taller than Robin, once they turned into full-grown adults, Robin towered over Maurice by 1 inch... THANK You for reacting to this video, Chad - nice to see You back at Your desk!💕
Welcome back, Chad! You were missed. I’ve lost count of how many times I have watched this performance but each time I am blown away by easily they could harmonize. They were just amazingly talented.
Very happy to see you back. My heart sings when I see these beautiful little boys. Barry has talked about growing so fast at this age, that sometimes they would put Mo and Robin on tea chests to get them in the same frame. It seems like I've heard Mo talk about not knowing what to do with their hands when they were standing there, and being told to snap their fingers. None of that matters when you see those sweet faces. Sweet faces with a real talent at a very young age.
Chad is my favorite reactor also because he is so genuine with his reactions. He holds my attention with his commentary. I have watched other reactors and they just seem to be so fake and melodramatic delivering their responses of the artists they're reviewing.
Hi Chad! Missed you! I echo Kathy Stammen below--You're my Number One reactor--because of the Bee Gees. They were humble of heart and had the grace to remain so throughout their careers. I don't believe they ever got the true industry respect that was given to other groups (such as the Beetles) even though they were inducted into the various Halls of Fame. Your reactions are a great way to honor them and even introduce us long-time-fans to lesser known songs in their catalogue. Thank YOU for all you do.
You mentioned the sound of 60's music. This is 1960, very early in the decade, so the music more closely sounded like the 50's rather than later in the 60's with sounds like the Merseybeat and psychedelia, war protest songs etc.
Chad, so very glad that you're back! I hope that your time off was restful and that you feel rejuvenated. Great reaction to the "youngsters"! Go back and watch the other two reactions you did from the early years and you'll be amazed how they grew from 1960 to 1963 and then to their performance of "Wine and Women" in 1965. In those five years they did a lot of growin'! 😀
So true, J2, so very true. Those "little boy" voices changed into those wonderful "big boy" voices and it was so very evident to us by 1965 what an awesome trio our precious guys were destined to become and the rest they say is history!
So glad youchose this as your first reaction coming back!!! They are the cutest!!! Thanks for all you do sweets!!!! Adore how you love them and look at them so sweetly.....greatly appreciate your love and respect for them. As always, SUPERB cutie! 😍😘
Glad to see you back. I’ve love this clip, their first TV appearance. Really mind blowing. Their background and life story is so much of their appeal to me. Also, the countless number of stories of how they are good, decent, humble guys who always treated their fans so well. They always said thank you to a fan who wanted an autograph. Fellow musicians and everyone who worked with them in studio, on tour, at appearances talked about how they were just plain NICE.
It always amazed me that they thanked the fans when asking for an autograph, that's something only three men in the world do, can you imagine, their fans were the ones who wanted to thank them for paying attention and giving away a few seconds of their lives, but they were unique, they were never arrogant, always grateful that people loved them, that's very praiseworthy.
Hey Chad, so nice that you'r back and hope you had a wonderful break, but you were missed also a lot. Our little guy's are so cute on this video's, IT makes me a little bit sad time fly's.
Thanks a million dear Chad. So nice to see you back. How amazing and moving is this first tv appearance! Love their Buddy Holly-esque harmonies. The three brothers are so cute here and Mo and Robin's shiness at eleven is so touching. But their talent is so mindblowing.
Good to have you back, Chad. Wasn't very long to me, because of a so beautiful 9-day biketrip together with my wife along the river Danube (no E-bike traveling!), we made, reaching Vienna at the end. Great respect for your work and saying "from humble beginnings" (right up till the end), like Barry sang on the song 'End Of The Rainbow', to which you reacted some months before. They started with blue-grass like that one and had lots more in store, those days. Songs like 'The Battle Of The Blue And The Grey' or 'All Of My Life' and 'Follow The Wind'. Clear to hear and see, these brothers would have made it to top, whoever shared their career along nearly five strong decades!
Great that you are back. I hope you had a fantastic vacation and relax time. But the weekends are not the same without your reactions!!! As far as I know that was their first appearance on TV. All three were extremly cute, weren't they.I have photos of my two older brothers wearing the exact same clothes. I can't wait for the next reactions for this weekend.
Aren't they the cutest?! Looking forward to the rest of the marathon. Fantastic start sweets. Welcome back cutie, you and the Brothers were truly missed 😘😘💞💞💋💋
There’s older audio. I think 20 Miles To Blueland is the oldest surviving, but the audio isn’t the best. This wasn’t their first tv appearance, but is the oldest available video. Did you notice Barry’s frayed rope guitar strap? ...and his hair with a life of its own even then? They were born entertainers, worked every weekend. I believe Barry was only in school for 1 school year past this video. I do wish you would react to the video of their live tv performance of DON’T SAY GOODBYE. The twins are high-watered pre-teens and Barry’s hair is unbelievable. They are sharing a mic, which they often reverted back to for concert Medleys and studio recordings. Most of the other Australian videos have the mic on a boom overhead out of sight. Great reaction, as always. Thanks for keeping the music alive!!
We have missed you. Glad you were able to take some time off. We are so glad you are back though. Aren’t they adorable and talented even at those young days. If you get a chance to watch documentaries you will see more of their earlier music with funny stories. Priceless!!! Harmonies were even great then. Watch their hands. I believe the twins were standing on boxes to help with height variations. Great reaction Chad. You’re the best!!! Their father taught them a lot about stage presence. You can see a lot about their earlier years in documentaries. We are so thankful you love The Bee Gees. They are just musical geniuses with humble and loving personalities. Never will there be anything close to them!
Hi Chad , so good to have you back....hope you had a good break.....don't they look cute ? This was their first recorded public performance as far as I could find out.....Barry was about 14 and the twins 10 or 11......thanks so much....this is the first time I've seen the performance in its entirety.......
So happy you are back! You have been missed, a lot!! Yes, we all need a break and I hope you are rejuvenated! They were so precious but already talented. They are and we’re truly humble, real and honest and it shows on every video I’ve ever watched of them.
When you said that you were going to take some time off of the channel and you weren’t sure when you'd be back, I understood, it being summer break and all. I'm glad you had a good vacation break! But, I'm really glad you're back now because I've missed you and your channel! I'm so glad you reacted to the Bee Gees’s very first recorded performance because I think it's so cool to see how they were when they were just starting out! Even then, at just 10 and 13 years old, they were amazing! I think the twins were adorable and I love how Barry's voice was cracking at times when he was talking and singing because he was just becoming a teenager! So cute! I don't remember what performance it was, but there was one (there might be more; I don't know) a few years later where the twins' voices (and not Barry's anymore) were cracking because they were just becoming teenagers!
In 1960 Barry was 13 (or 14) and the twins ten!!!!!! Mo could already keep time snapping his fingers. Robin not so much. Poor guy was always a bit of a spazz when it came to rhythm! Even then Barry had the head nod going on! Mo looked a bit nervous. I like lots of bands but the story of these guys was from REAL poverty where they had to move in the night to avoid the landlord and for a time had to split the kids up to stay with relatives....that is poverty. They went through all kinds of adversity but were determined to succeed and still wanted to give their best to their last breaths. Such was their love of music! Sometimes I wonder if their long uphill climb was a reason they weren't acknowledged as much. They weren't sudden flashes in the pan like some bands. When they make the upcoming movie...if it EVER happens...I hope all of that is included. Maybe it will be 6 hours long! Maybe you can eventually do some of Brian Henderson's Bandstand ("Band of Gold" was fun "Hilly Billy" just silly). Some of that you have already seen but there are so many great bits in that to show their evolution. Again, welcome back!
@@nickjames3049 - Goodness gracious Nick, please chill. Everybody is so politically correct and easily offended! It's not meant to be offensive or derogatory. I loved Robin since I was a teen in the 60's. It derives from the word "spastic" which is simply defined as a muscle spasm. It's only derogatory if you WANT it to be. It WAS NOT meant to be. OK?
@Susie Q. Yup, bless him but Robin couldn't keep a beat then to save his life. Good think he was a cutie pie. Hilly Billy Ding Dong Choo Choo! It's totally silly and a must watch!🤣
@@susanhunter7124 - When I was a kid back when dinosaurs roamed the earth (man those stegosaurs left some huge piles of 💩) we actually used that word as an endearing label among friends. Obviously a generational thing. It is cute in the video that Rob tried so hard but his finger snapping was always out of time. He joked himself that he couldn't dance and had no rhythm, bless his heart. That was one reason we loved him so much..
Welcome back Chad. I hope you've had a great holiday to recharge the batteries. Mine has just started, three weeks before returning to work. So nice to be able to kick it off with a Bee Gees marathon. And you picked a great track to do it with. Even at that age their talent was obvious.
That "To Whom" album is just amazing, not sure if you've reacted to it all yet but what an odd collection of songs each vastly different from the next. its the type that you put on and you get yourself a cup of coffee and just listen. It was one of their most overlooked albums and people are starting to realize that I think. Keep it up Chad
Lovely to see you back Chad and I hope you are fully rested and relaxed after your well-deserved break. Great reaction to this Bee Gees song. Love how cute the twins were and what a great song written by Barry I presume. It's amazing to have these videos of the boys at the outset of their careers, knowing the heights they reached later on and how much people still love their music. Love them lots. Thanks Chad x
Glad to see you back Chad! As far as I know there are not any other earlier recordings. They did several appearances on Bandstand in the mid-sixties and I know you've reacted to a couple of those, but I think that is it for early, early days. I would love to see you react to some of those Bandstand performances, however.
Yes, this was their very first TV presentation ever and they were very poor, look what Barry is using to hold up his guitar, it's like a piece of clothesline, anyway later on with all the fame and money they had, always stayed humble and that's why we all love them. 4:20 Barry's voice is about to broke, 13 years 😊and the twins, Gosh!!! I just feel like pinching their cheeks 🤗🤗 They both had to stand in some kind of boxes to reach Barry's height a little bit more.
Great to see you back Chad (but keep having breaks when you need them). Please Please Me Beatles cover is another great one from their early days in Australia and they perform it with lots of confidence.
Good to see you on again 👍 As far as I have found, this is the earliest tv appearance footage. They played in adults clubs quite a bit I understand, also a few resort town hotels, and side shows in tents. At one point I heard their sister Leslie did some snake dancing. But, a family has to do what they must for a roof over the heads and food on the table.
