Young boy asks Pope Francis: Is my father in heaven? 

Instead of fire, brimstone and damnation, this pope delivered a message of mercy and kindness. So wonderful.

What a beautiful message from Pope Francis. It made me cry! I love the Pope!!! God bless him.

What ever your beliefs. this good man comforted a child grieving for his father.

The heaven is God's right. God's love is beyond compared of man's love.

I can understand how this was a merciful answer for the boy.

What is better? A beautiful lie or a hard truth?

The pope Francis words are healing, and also made me cry.

So sad to see so many people who say that they believe in a loving God so willing to see that loving God send a loving man to hell just because he didn't believe in that loving God. People if there is a Judgement it will be your heart that gets judged not your doctrine. Basically the Bible teaches that it is because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice that mankind will have judgement. We all serve one of two masters Love or hate and it is the master we give our heart to that we will be judged by. For all those who don't believe in that Loving God what will you be judged by?

I just cried !

3 requirements to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. 1. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. 2. Repent for your sins. 3. Be baptized in water. Maybe the father of the kid was baptized earlier in his life. Maybe before his death he did accept Jesus Christ into his life and maybe he did ask for forgiveness.

It is known to us and to you that those who are in invincible ignorance of our most holy religion, but who observe carefully the natural law, and the precepts graven by God upon the hearts of all men, and who being disposed to obey God lead an honest and upright life, may, aided by the light of divine grace, attain to eternal life; for God who sees clearly, searches and knows the heart, the disposition, the thoughts and intentions of each, in his supreme mercy and goodness by no means permits that anyone suffer eternal punishment, who has not of his own free will fallen into sin.

Those of you who left the mean and judgmental comments regarding his answer to this boy will answer for it, one way or another. You think you're high & holy but you're low and worthless. The hard truth is your existence.

The Pope should have left the question alone and whispered yes to the boy to make him feel better. Jesus asked why do you call me good, there is only one that is good. To get to heaven you must believe that Jesus is our savior, no good deed will grant you a pass to dwell with God. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” “For by grace are you saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves - it is the gift of God. Not by works, so that no one can boast”If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and receive forgiveness from God, here is prayer you can pray. Saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. It is only trusting in Jesus Christ that can provide forgiveness of sins. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your forgiveness. "God, I know that I have sinned against You and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness! Amen!"

As much as this brought tears to my eyes, I have to say the pope is wrong. All people are sinners and worthy of the wrath of God. No one does good - no, not one - in the words of Paul. Salvation is through Christ alone, not through our own works, because through our own works, we all stand condemned. If the boy's father died an atheist, he is lost because he stood in rebellion against His Creator and the source of his life. That might sound harsh, but reality is not dependent on our feelings. It is what it is.I feel for the boy - I really do. But you're not doing him any favors by telling him beautiful lies.

That parish is located in one of the uglyest outskirt of Rome where in the 70s a horrible building 1 km lenght was build : now it's notorious to be a bad place to live.

If you want to find heaven look within yourself

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, let him be damned! This is rank heresy!

There is so much wrong with this. Why would this question be answered in public? What a catastrophe. He could have answered privately--in an appropriate way for a child of that age! Instead he declared that Jesus is not the only way unto the Father. I shudder.
