He sings the first 2 verses softly, then 2 verses fully, then 2 more go to falsetto. Love this guy, many campfires and parties drinking and fooling around to Chris Isaak. Saw him live at a Rockabilly concert in the 90's, he wore a suit and was barefoot. Sweet but deadly voice. Love your reactions and comments 💙💙
Happy New Year, Aaliyah! While this was his breakthrough song, it's far from the only great piece he's recorded. I've had the pleasure of seeing his show four times and he's incredible to see to see live. He's a humble man who knows his audiences are the reason he stays working. Happy news from me, my anak in Cavite just had her first child - a baby girl named ... Alliyah. ♥ We're not related by blood, only that our relationship has been online for several years and we have become dad and anak. My anak has honoured me in that Alliyah's middle name uses the first part of my name. I look forward to seeing your future reactions, Aaliyah. Blessings for your new year ♥
Hey Aaliyah, what a nice start into the new year. Glad you liked the song. It's one of my all-time favourites since I first heard it in the movie "Wild at Heart". Happy new year everyone.
Happy New Year Aaliyah, this is why RU-vid is a Great "sit on your computer" and sit while your veiwing Music while learning about Musicians and Bands. I've seen Chris and the band many times and even met Chris and other band members in person, he also had a weekly show in 1990s thru the 2000s that you can check on the RU-vid streaming channel, just type in The Chris Isaak show and there's a few shows. There are So Many Great Musicians to listen to others are like The Everly Brothers, Neil Diamond, Simon & Garfunkel and many others, Oh and BTW I'm Tim, an Ex Musician and a fan of the band
One of the most beautiful songs definitely so glad you discovered it and love it. I'm a singer and I can do that vocal cry which is so fun and awesome to be able to do. I love singing some of Hank Williams music and doing that he did that a lot. Maybe take a listen to some Hank Williams long gone lonesome blues that will knock your socks off.
You picked a great song for the new year. There is so much in his music and in this song. Lots of nuances. Kudos to you for your disclaimer. Very Classy. I tip my hat to you. We all have much to learn, and I am sure this old man can learn much from you. Carry on.
@@michaelb1761 he's talking about the actual rating the video was given. Not his opinion on it. It was very controversial at the time because it was one of the first R ratings given to a music video. But yes, to just normal viewers it was very tame. It definitely should have had a PG-13 rating at most.
I get to go see chris on september eleventh at The Britt festival in Jacksonville, Oregon. This is On my bucket list. It's a perfect end to my summer. I think Chris Isaac Has got to be my favorite living Voice out there. If Elvis and Roy Orbison had a son, they would be very proud.😅
Helena Christensen at the top of her supermodel game. Also the mother of a son to Norman Reedus (Walking Dead). Honestly glad she didn't react to the music video because that's sort of played out.
This song was inspired by a late night phone call from a female friend who wanted to come over to his house for a fling. He told her no but she insisted and came over anyway against his will but he couldn't resist. You should react to the official music video for this song because it's very sensual.
Hey Beautiful, good to see you again. Don't forget David Phelps. His most viewed live performances. You won't be disappointed. Until next time, stay well and popping for fresh !
If you liked this, check out another song of his, called "Gone Ridin'," the version from this very same live set. It's a completely different vibe and it's equally great.
Hi , I wanted to let you know about a artist who covered this song. Violet Orlandi. I play bass and her version made me play this song again after years of leaving it behind.
RIP James Wilsey, 2018. He was the lead guitarist in the studio 🎙 and in the touring band. Written by Chris Isaak. His major influence you can hear in his voice is the late Roy Orbison. Chris Isaak hosted a TV 📺 show filmed in Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦 back in the 2000s. Chris Isaak was born and raised in Stockton, which is 1 hour+ away from the Bay Area. He moved to my hometown San Francisco 🌉. He surfed and made music. He often appeared in the Bay Area Music Awards (BAMMIES). As for the music video 📹., the Helena Christensen was a top model then. She was a royal pain 😖 to Chris Isaak. Fast forward to now. She looks bad 👎 and Chris Isaak still is handsome 😃. In a live performance 🎭 in Australia 🇦🇺, when Chris Isaak sang this, presenter Melissa Doyle was feeling feint for him! L 🤣 L She is not the only female to fall in love with Chris Isaak! L 🤣 L I had chances to meet him before Wicked Game 🎮 peaked but never did. 😭 This is my 2nd favorite song of his. My favorite is San Francisco Days. A native like me, transplant or a frequent traveler will understand the references in that song.
according to my eighth grade math teacher, "nobody loves no one" is a double negative which turns into a positive result..... in other words, "everybody loves someone".
I don’t know if I would call a song that says “No, I don’t want to fall in love with you.” a love song. It is a very sad song about how everyone is broken and untrusting.
Maybe she misheard the lyrics like I did for the longest time years ago. I thought he was saying, "No I..... wanna fall in love". I couldn't hear the "don't" part, or didn't notice it anyway.
If you like the Warning. Then check out Band-Maid. They are a Japanese all girl Rock Band. They are all BadAss musicians. I hope you enjoyed the holidays and have a great new year. Patrick from Wilmington Delaware
I really love your disclaimer. Knowing you have lots still left to learn is honestly the key to life. I wish you all success in your future endeavors. And you got a sub from me because of your desire to grow and learn. I'm glad you enjoyed this song. You should check out the righteous brothers. Specifically 'unchained melody'. It is one of the greatest live performances of all time.
Brilliant singer from my younger years, the music video was hot. Try a metal singer singing opera maybe once. Dan Vasc with Nessum Dorma. Another song from Chris was Blue Hotel. Enjoy the new year.
Great song great performance .......I have heard a lot of artists cover this song, Chris’s original version still remains an absolutel favourite ...... I would urge you to watch Diana Ankudinova’s cover (Other worldly Contrato), the arrangement and performance is a phenomenal example of two amazing versions
Oh! This song is a classic! This man's voice is almost like Elvis'. Aaliyah, boa tarde. When you can, give this old song from 1985 a try: Kid Abelha - Educação sentimental. Espero que você goste. Feliz 2024! Educação sentimental (1985) The life they taught me was a normal life,... it had work, money, family, children and so on. Everything would be so perfect if everything was just that,... but that's less than everything, it's less than I need. (Chorus) Now you're leaving... and I don't know what to do. Nobody explained it to me... at school, nobody will answer me. I know the time for the whole world, but I don't know when to stop. There is so much fear of suffering, that I suffer just thinking about it. Who should I ask, where am I going to look for a book that teaches me not to leave me? (Chorus) Now you're leaving... and I don't know what to do. Nobody explained it to me... at school, nobody will answer me. Who should I ask, where am I going to look for a book that teaches me not to leave me? (Chorus) Now you're leaving... and I don't know what to do. Nobody explained it to me... at school, nobody will answer me.
aaliyah should check out patricia janeckova singing'the doll song' from a 2016 new year concert on you tube!! patricia died of breast cancer last year aged 25!!
thank you! i'm not trying to steal your thunder, btw! there is a connection between you & patricia, in that she used to like to listen to rock music when she was relaxing! also check patricia out singing 'meine lippen'! one final recommendation is , nothing else matters' by miley cyrus featuring elton john!! all the best for your future! enjoy the rest of the winter - life is too short not to!!!@@AaliyahCapili
Unfortunately for some reason this live version has been heavily pitch-corrected in post-production (cf. the Wings of Pegasus analysis of it), very difficult decision to understand regarding one of the best singers of all time.
It trips me when young people that haven't experienced life try to react to a song they simply have no experience they can relate to. That is not a criticism...it is fortunate you haven't had that life experience. But you will. That is the day you should revisit this song. It is 3 AM. Your phone rings. Hey you up? You lie...you know me of course I am. Good...see you in five. You hang up. You know she will use you...but it is so worth it. But you also know she will leave...again...as she always does. You wish you had the strength to walk away. But you can't. You need her. It is just she don't need you in the same way. So you get up...and wait...just as you have a dozen times before. And will a dozen times in the future.
The problem is it's been pitch corrected in post. You should listen to the original version that isn't pitch corrected, way better, because it's natural. This version that's been dragged to 440Hz looses a lot of expression and sounds unnatural. I am surprised you can't hear this and the synthesiser like quality to so much of the singing?
You definitely need to take the time to edit out your spacebar clicks to pause the video You're watching, that's so distracting. It's like a giant clack and any headphone users ears.
I met Chris Isaak back in 2001 and again in 2003 a few times! He was doing his tv sitcom "The Chris Isaak Show"in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Chris was so sexy back then too!!❤🥰 Chris is such a nice guy as well as his band mates!
Chris Isaak was an excellent composer and singer. He was called the new "Elvis", both because of his appearance and because his main genre was rock songs. It is a pity that the controversies he had have buried his career. He had a lot to give
Aaliya I don't know if you only react to live performances. Because you are a singer I think you would appreciate a voice like this. I have never seen anyone react to this artist. She has one of the most beautiful voices and this is one of the best written songs. Please to listen and enjoy. " Joan Baez - Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands " Thank you.
