@@TheMerchan It doesn't compare to growing a child in you, but caring and looking after a pregnant lady isn't easy. (Which you are supposed to do. Don't be assholes) I'd say it's a 25/75 split.
@@seplays8743 Idk, I kinda disagree. two different shows with two different genres. I often find the laughtrack too loud and annoying more than helpful
@@anthonyshepherd265or when he mentioned the graduation of his son, Leonard Cooper, and Amy told him that he should be grateful that she let him name their child Leonard
@anthonyshepherd265 If he's typing his memoirs on a computer, why is there need for a microphone in front of them? I always thought he was being interviewed or making a podcast-style or audio memoir, which would explain the microphones and talking.
i want to see one with raj as he ended big bang single even after how hard he tried, maybe this special episode can include everyone. maybe they drifted apart or are still in touch? would love to find out
This is the reason the show often deviates from what we heard on TBBT. The contradictions and discrepancies are due to the classic unreliable narrator. Well played.
Sheldon's back story was created for laughs and really wouldn't have made any sense (or been entertaining) to film it the way we heard it in TBBT. George's character would've been unwatchable. So they had to ignore a lot of stuff in TBBT.
The way I see it is that Sheldon in TBBT was the unreliable narrator. He said things to keep a certain distance from his family for one reason or another. This is him years later working through what actually happened
My guess is the reason why Sheldon spoke so poorly of his father in The Big Bang Theory was because it was a coping mechanism for him. After all, he was going through a couple of life-altering changes at the time: going off to CalTech, his parents planning to sell the house and move to Houston so George could coach football at Rice University. Sheldon's always been adverse to change, and the sudden death of his father must have shaken him to his core, even more so than the rest of his family. So in order to cope with it, he made his father out to be a toxic, cheating, alcoholic redneck as a way to gaslight himself into thinking that his father had very few redeeming qualities and thus should not be mourned nor missed. Basically, it was a form of denial, believing that the man he loved and looked up to was not as good as he actually was. It wasn't until years later, especially at his own wedding, that he finally came to terms with it all and admitted that he missed his father. Perhaps this whole show, since it appears to be a memoir of his life, was Sheldon's way of setting the record straight: for the audience, for his friends, and especially for himself.
@SR-iy4gg jim hasn't gained weight. He's aged. Your face naturally slips from your facial bones as your collagen and muscle tone decreases, making your jowls larger. He was 34 when he first started filming TBBT, and he's 51 here. There are a lot of changes in those years. That time period is where the majority of first facelifts occur. And I don't know if she's lost weight. The show purposefully dressed her in close that were unflattering to her figure, used bad makeup, and made her hair look thin and greasy (make under). So, it's difficult to say.
"I had already made my contribution to the project!" Has the same energy as "But what does that have to do with you, the baby comes out of HER, right?"
A thoroughly well-written and entertaining show! I'm so pleased we got to see Mayim and Jim for the finale! And thank you Ian & Jim for both playing such an iconic role. Feels like the end of an era! God bless you all!
@@hetwiki Probably be about what Adult Georgie said when he first appears and how he described how he had worked hard for years to get his tire business off the ground while effectively having to step up for his mom and missy while Sheldon left for Caltech.
It's odd to hear Sheldon and Amy have a conversation without a laughing track in the background, I prefer it this way. Update: yes I know there was a live audience but because the background laughter was literally the same tone each time, it makes me suspicious enough to question whether they were forced to laugh a certain way or just robots and also they laughed at anything which was not even that funny at times.
@@Aaliyahchannel2024 A laugh track recorded life while theywhere filming... but still recorded; edited and added to the program when aired for TV. In the end, the point is that when you are watching TV, you hear people laugthing when tere is a joke.
@@glamrockfoxy6667I hardly doubt The Big Bang Theory would come back. Perhaps a Sheldon & Amy spin off could possibly happen. As I read something where the creator of Big Bang Theory is not only doing Young Sheldon spin off show but I think has plans for like 1 or 2 other spin offs in the same universe. As for The Big Bang Theory, that ended perfectly. No need to continue that.
Ooooh the memories. I miss Sheldon and Amy arguing, Amy confronting Sheldon about the things he had done that aren’t okay, Sheldon proving his point but not actually, and them talking about a little running gag from tbbt (Amy and Sheldon only have sex during Amy’s birthday). This one scene only already bring back so many memories and that nostalgia feeling, even this time, it’s without a laughing track. I hope older Sheldon and Amy make an appearance again before the series ends. And I hope that older Leonard, Penny, Raj, Howard, Bernadette and the whole Cooper family to make an appearance at least once in this season finale. Please, it will be the best thing ever for the OG fans.
Well that explains the retcons. Sure he may have perfect memory, but it is possible he's embellishing his memory to make himself or others better/worse. Like how George cheated on his mom or that he was a raging alcoholic.
Similar to Gilmore girls, where Rory is much nicer in the original. Which made people speculate the original series was the books she wrote and not exactly what happened
I would expect to find he was an unreliable narrator. It would at least explain the discrepancies between Young Sheldon and TBBT version of his family.
Sheldon mispercieved things like that and in his arrogance never sought to set the record straight. If his memoirs come out, his mother is going to smack him around the head with it right into the second edition with corrections.
Well, sometimes what narrator sheldon says doesnt match up with what actually happened in the episode. So I assume whats is shown in the show is what actually happened, and the inconsistencies with TBBT are sheldon legit misremembering or having misunderstood the situation.
seeing the stuff from tbbt in the background of sheldon’s office just makes nostalgia hit hard, the dna model, gollum, the picture with sheldon’s face and his nobel medal
A sly way to address the shows occasional inconsistencies to TBBT, Sheldon chooses to remember himself as more accommodating and cooperative then he actually is. It might also explain why Young Sheldon occasionally heard the voices of the TBBT cast. Sheldon's friendships changed his life and lifestyle profoundly and change is something Sheldon canonically fears.
That isn't unusual for him. As a child in YS he claimed to Paige he was the glue that held their family together. And on TBBT he said that "your little ray of sunshine is well" after recovering from the flu, which had driven everyone crazy. He never did have a true sense of self.
How does that explain the "George cheating scene". In YS it's revealed it was a misunderstanding, but in TBBT Sheldon is fully convinced he did walk on his dad cheating.
I really wish that they had other cast members from TBBT to return to reprise their roles like Kailey Couco as Penny, Laurie Metcalf as Older Mary Cooper, and other older verison of the Cooper family
Howard did vocally reprise for the episode where Sheldon took engineering, and Amy had popped up before telling Sheldon that he was lucky she let him name their first kid for Leonard Nimoy.
Funny thing is, this a continuity snarl to the BBT. While yes, Sheldon always makes sure to sleep with Amy on her birthday, he also specifically requests that she also ask him whenever she needs him to fulfil her needs in the Season 12 Episode "The Conjugal Configuration".
I love how each actor plays this seen. Marie is doing her best to stay strong and not break infront of her kids, Missy is breaking down crying, Meemaw is holding Missy and Marie making sure they are both ok while Sheldon is so unable to process anything he just sits down unable to even understand what's going on.
They kind of already did that when Sheldon traveled to Texas to invite Georgie to his and Amy's wedding. Georgie contradicted much of what Sheldon had told about life after their father died. Basically he said to Sheldon "what would you know about how things were? You were never there."
In Sheldon's defense here, when my ex-wife was giving birth to our first son, it also was taking a long time. There was a segment on a gardening episode that I was looking forward to all week. At the moment when my son's head first appeared, the doctor said "the babies head is appearing. When no sound came from my direction, both, the doctor and my wife looked at me. My wife said my name, to which I turned around with a confused look on my face. It was a very good segment. So, I don't have a problem with Sheldon on zoom. I'm sure it happens all the time.
I am over here waiting for the audience to laugh the second I see adult Sheldon and Amy 😂, even without a studio audience laughing this scene made me laugh .
0:11 i like how they included the Einstein tile on the board at the top left...well considering that this scene takes place in the present present its a cool detail.
Would have been cool if that seen was shot like how tbbt was with the wide angle and even potential the laugh track instead of the way young Sheldon is shot which is a lot more close up with more cuts. Just as a way to reconfirm the split between the two
I would love it if Amy asked why the words he's writing for his memoir are so different from what he told everyone previously. Put the burden on him to explain things. Sheldon was an adult during TBBT and is an adult writing the memoir. Why is there such a difference? Did he lie when telling his friends stories about his childhood, or is he lying now?
