Oddly, the old people in this series have done more impact to the young ones more than their own parents. Like Sheldon have dr. Sturgis, Missy have Meemaw, and Georgie have Dale.

@@ninjalukehutch_1828 But its not just about academics, its about Mary favoring 1 child over the other 2. Why do you think Georgie and Missy screw up? They do it to get attention from their mother; Sheldon doesn't have to do that because he already gets special treatment. Let's just say that in an opposite world, if Sheldon WAS to drop out of school, Mary would take his side fully and say he can do whatever he wants because she didn't want him going to college or even high school in the first place.

I'm 61 and I did finish high school but I never had to show my certificate to anyone so having it didn't make an ounce of difference to my life. I made a good living in my chosen occupation and at the age of 49, I landed a job that put me into the top 2% of income earners in Australia. The richest person that I know personally is an uncle of mine who didn't finish school and he is fabulously wealthy (and I mean fabulously) and has been since I was a child.

I dropped out and I'm living a better life. Then again, I already got a GED, I graduated high school, I dropped community college, and that was because I had no plans. I only went because I was told by everyone to go, my teachers, my counselors, my therapist, and my doctors said it was my best option. So I went for 2 years not realizing that I wasted my time, but maybe it's for the best that I stick around because then I wouldn't realize what I want to do.

My challenge, how solid can a 16 year old’s plan be? Wisdom is lost on the youth for a reason. His parents have lived life as adults and obviously knows things he does not so to completely ignore their advice and guidance is foolish in the least and arrogant in the most. Not sure what high school lessons you learned but in my state, they don’t teach about taxes and they don’t teach you about state and local gov (emphasis on local gov and how to vote)- and yet, we expect an 18 year old to have all the tools. I didn’t have all the tools until I was 25 and even then it was still a journey.

This is the problem in our goddamn society we dont let people especially children make their own decisions and somehow believe to have control over their every breath.. its not about what’s good or bad for him or whether he has a solid plan or not but rather that he should stay happy and figure out what he wants and what he actually is…ppl pls stop controlling ppl’s or for that matter even ur children’s life and leave them alone and let them fall in a hole if they want but atleast them be satisfied at the end!! And its not always what elders do is right but whatever..i hope this message is an eyeopener for shit parents and ppl who ruin their children’s goddamn lives…children bless u all who r struggling with this unfairness. I can't believe so of the hate towards Mary some people have or saying that she only loves Sheldon. Or that people think George is a great father. Neither of them are perfect parents. They are also two very very different people. Mary is stressed out a lot. She, in my opinion, has a good head on her shoulder and is responsible for keeping the family together. George does not support her in this, hence why Mee maw doesn't think he'd good enough for her. But I also believe that they balance each other out and if they only had Georgie and Missy, they would be fine. Sheldon is actually the problem. He is so incredibly different that neither the parents nor siblings really know how to work together. Mary is really the only person that can connect with him and she, very reasonably, if afraid for him and so pays more attention to him. It's not a good thing for Georgie and Missy and I think Mary would like it to be different, but I think it is only natural for a parent to focus more on the 'troubled' child, while also knowing deep down that George is able to connect and help Georgie and Missy and that they will be okay. Then if there is trouble or troubling signs with the other kids (whether correct or not) it all becomes too much. Even so, George immediately wants to kick Georgie out of the house, while Mary wants to work things out, as she always has done.
@TheJayden3977

Totally agree. I love how people bag their parenting as if they are A class parents themselves. There is no textbook way to parent and no one is perfect at it. It’s hard work, even more so for someone who is on the spectrum like Sheldon is.

had I been Georgie or missy i would have abandoned that excuse of a family as soon as I turned my legal age... it's not those other 2 kids' fault either if one of the siblings turned out to be different.. they don't deserve a neglectful childhood... which goes on till adulthood as i saw from the relationship between mary and missy in tbbt
@voidska
@voidska 8 месяцев назад
Well the big glaring problem with mary which makes most people dunk on her immediately is that she's a possessive, strict, zealot In the episode where she literally took EVERYONE'S possessions ((we dont even know if she took away her own possessions)), she herself was sinning. being selfish is a sin, and when she sees missy sitting on a couch eating a treat georgie got for her because he's SUCCESSFUL, missy watching tv and eating it, she just SNAPS for some reason and takes all of it going on about how she's "reclaiming her house from the devil". She was an okay parent at best, same with george, but george was at least somewhat there for them and wasn't a religious fanatic trying to cram his beliefs down his childrens throats. That's why most people like george, because he knows when he's wrong and he knows when he fucks up, but mary just... there's rarely ever times where she goes or even admits that she was wrong basically; people don't like mary mainly because she's a zealot who contradicts herself and rarely ever admits that she was wrong about something. or at least that's what I think, who knows Oh wait, uh there's also the lack of communication and the time where she did hide something INCREDIBLY important from george revolving around sheldon ((a VERY good college sending him an acceptance letter / invitation to their college.)) mary was kinda pretty horrible there.

@virgie4715
@virgie4715 Год назад
True, but it’s not really uncommon for kids to be more mature than adults in some ways because their judgment isn’t being clouded by years of life experience. As they grow older, they usually grow out of that. Then there’s something to be said about the fact that Sheldon’s childhood was very rushed. He skipped middle school, went to high school then college all before puberty even hit. That may be why he’s more childish now, kinda reliving what he missed out on.

The media or history never focuses on the 95% of the dropouts who failed miserably without having the financial means to have a decent life. This really depends on where you live and what you do. Your mom may have been able to go to nursing school but now days if you want to be an RN you have to have to graduate from high school and go to college . A few years ago in my state all the nurses in the hospitals had to be RN's or be fired they lost a lot of older nurses that were just LPNS because of this because they couldn't get in to the classes to be an RN because they didn't finish highschool. My job won't even interview you if you have a GED a full diploma only and they asked to see it too I work in the medical insurance field.

I don't know where u get such information. College doesn't' make u dumber, even the worst college. If u go to college, the primary focus should be academics. The people who say BS like that are the ones who party 24/7 and then fail and then finally drop out. When in doubt search online to see the statistics. The media and news like to romanticize the idea of high school/college dropout who became successful cause everyone likes an underdog story. This gives an impression to naive minds that u need to drop out to be successful. The media never highlights the 95 % of people who are struggling to make a decent living after dropping out. Trust me I have friends who did this, while I am not smart by any means I persisted through college. I liked the work that I got. I earn 6 digits entry pay. George and Mary were incredibly strict with the kids and looked how that worked out. Georgie becomes a millionaire despite dropping out of high school. Missy becomes a single mom of 4 kids from at least 2 different men and probably doesn't have a job. Then there is Sheldon who works for a university but lives in an apartment building with friends. Americans have a stunted view of education as a means to an end....a rather vocational view of education. My grandfather said education doesn't make you a smarter or better person, but it does make you a person with choices. The more education you have, the less invested you are in a status quo. Change is less scary. Incorporating new things, changes, people are less daunting. My grandfather said anyone can make money, not everyone can make a difference..... education or not.
