For the hand test it would of been more interesting to of perhaps poked the skin with a needle, not to break the skin but so it can be felt, and then on the fake hand press the needle into the hand. Maybe that would turn sensation of the needle would turn into pain?

I feel like the "spot the difference" pictures would have been much easier if it where not for the gray frame in between the photos. Felt like someone threw a flashbang at me every other second and my brain had to restart it's scanning of the photo each time.

Weren't you supposed to use the other side of the paintbrush to stroke the arms? I saw this experiment before and people used feathers and the brush (not the brush handle).

Nop. People are very sensitive to light strokes, like a feather. So I would guess that the light stroke of a thin paintbrush would be effective to bring the same sensation.

+Chris Randall It's not lost. Water can't be lost on planet earth unless we ship it to space. Water used in manufacturing is evaporated right back into the clouds like it would be anywhere else.

wasted != lost I'm familiar with the fundamentals of physics. But you can pull water out of one place and it go to a less useful place. I live in CA where there's a whole ocean of water next to us, but we're in a drought. I think the assumption is the loss of drinkable water or water that can be easily processed to be drinkable.

So how exactly do 340 - 620 Liters of water get used to produce a liter of soft drinks?? Does this not get recycled for other uses. Those proportions just seem insanely exaggerated, could you explain them any better?

+TheMusicMan The water from the city's reservoir some 15 miles away gets turned into water in the city's sewer system 50 miles away, plus water in the town's groundwater, eventually accessed by a well a couple hundred yards away. It starts as fresh water in a place where there is not a shortage, and it eventually ends the same way in a different place not too far away. I really don't know what they propose doing with the local water that would be a better use than drinking it. None of it vanishes, nor is any removed from circulation beyond the time it spends in bottles. The factory "wastes" it right back into the environment.

+TheMusicMan It doesn't go into the drink itself, but the production of it. Same as the total gas used to produce sustainable energy, because it's used to make the parts that produce it.

Test#1 I found the shadow really fast I thought it was the liscense plate on the car but when I realized it wasn't it then I couldn't find a difference And the last one with boat I didn't see it at all

By the time the third test came around, I'd figured out a method (to look, but not SEE: basically just systematically let my eyes pass over the image, not bothering to care what I was seeing, just looking for a change in light levels) to find the change quickly and easily. I attribute being able to do this normally to having a short attention span and probably being of lower intelligence. If your brain has to do things like pattern recognition manually (as opposed to the evolved "shortcuts") that's not remotely a good thing.

Does anyone know the actual name of the first illusion or the phenomenon behind it? Searching for terms like "spot the difference illusion" or "flashing difference illusion" just brought up other illusions. I'm also interested in the rationale behind using the handle of the paint brush for the illusion involving the hand, instead of the actual brush like it's meant to be done (assuming they had a reason and it wasn't just "we didn't do our research first").

Who else noticed the typo at 7:27 - "MINTUES"? It flashes by so fast, most people are likely to miss it. I thought that was an illusion too, and that they'd refer to it later, but they didn't. So I guess it was just a typo :D

the flashing things burned my eyes and I don't know why. I was literally drinking some lemon lime and bitters and Greg said that soft drink is pointless.

the flashing images hurt my eyes, trying to focus on something that turns into a grey screen and flashes isn't something i evolved to do.

Me at very start of video: (Why does he have a cardboard frame stuck to the back of his head....?) Mitch: "Your brain is making assumptions right now". Me: ...? Also Me: Oh that is what they were doing. (I didn't notice the other fake frame for some reason). Edit: I got the first and third one of the spot the difference a few seconds after me eyes ajusted to the grey flashes. I got the second one just before Mitch confirmed it.
