Like I don't think we need our bodies anymore after we die sooo. I just hope Milo could get the help he needs and adopted to a good family hats the only thing im frighten with about that stuff. I think once Im a certain age i'll just not have pets.
Well... I think it really comes down to the individual animal. There was a case of a dog eating the face of the owner despite the owner only haven lost consciousness due to OD. We can't group animals with vastly individual personalities together.
@@rockycuro7737 Why? In that scenario I'm dead and my pet is locked in the house with limited time until help arrived. Giving up my body for it to last longer until someone comes and rescues it is an act of sacrifice in love. I gave my best friend all I had and in the end I made one final gesture so it can keep on living, possibly find some lovely home and die at peace, instead of the worst possible death known.
@@Romanscii It would still take longer than 24 hours, especailly if they were being fed dry kibble from the bag. They'd probably find a way to open that before eating the body... though they will bite it to try and get a response...
@@meirecosta9046 I know for a fact they will. My grandmother was losing circulation in her limbs. Her feet and hands could go numb while she slept. She woke up because something was tugging on her leg and when she looked down, she saw that her cat had eaten half of her big toe. So it has been confirmed.
Okay I don't see people saying this enough. But this is false information. Not all cats do this, and its not a food need most cases. Cats instincts is to keep thier territory/colony safe from predators. This is why cats cover thier feces. They are actively trying to Eliminate a scent for predators to find. A corpse is a heavy scent to attract said predators and scavengers. But the truth of the matter is its mostly a case of HIGH stress. Don't be afraid of cats because of this. Cats don't eat human flesh unless dire circumstances. And dogs are just as likely to devour you. This information is bias picked out of recounts.
Lonewolf I agree with you. Another bullshit story to make people afraid of cats. Black cats are evil and bad luck. Cats are evil demons. Cats are a witches familiar. Superstitious BS. I'm 72. I've had many cats.
Cat and dog both eat you when you die, it’s just nature thing. I have known this fact for a really long time and it has been documented really well about the behavior. The same goes for you if you stuck in a place where there is no food with your dog, if your pet died first chances are you will more likely to eat your pet dog corpse to survive. Everyone will say they will never do that bla bla bla, but the funny thing is you will find out eventually when you’re in that exact situation. It’s easier said than done.
My baby tigers already have my full permission to eat me if anything were to happen. They know this and routinely chomp on my feet while I’m sleeping lol
@@SassyNymphet Maybe for you it is. Ask people who have/had out of body experiences, know something about this. But nevermind, that's why I also said consciousness, as in brain activity that is unique to you.
My neighbor died some years ago his dog was really sad .he was not eating anything untill i fed him food forcefully. He is okay now . BUT PEOPLE SHOULD STOP SAYING THAT " Dogs are better "or "Cats are better " every one is best on their own way
It doesn't even make sense as a way to make cats look bad. Cats identify mostly by smell and movements, they eat you so easily because they don't feel like the body is really you. Which funnily enough is completely true. You are no longer in that body, it's just a bunch of flesh. It's us humans who are in the wrong for caring so much about bodies and faces instead of whats on the inside.
To quote that one post; "He would literally eat you if you died" "like im dead, why would i care, he's a hungry boy and he has a cute nose. Dig in Mr. Mittens"
I think I remember seeing somewhere that in cases where this actually happens, the cat will usually be observably depressed for months Cats definitely care about their owners, they just want to survive No matter what. It's the same concept as a human eating another deceased human in the mountains to survive. they may be filled with guilt and sorrow, but they will be alive
I think a key thing that people are missing here is that cats have a tendency to “love bite”, but dogs don’t. From what I read, the cats that do ‘eat’ the bodies tend to only nibble at it. I think it’s a fairly reasonable conclusion to assume that the cats might have been trying to wake their owner up by biting them. The same happens with dogs, too. In a French study at the University of Lille, they found that 24% of the bodies that had been found within a day, pet dogs had eaten at least some part of their dead owner. And yeah, cats definitely get sad without their owner. I remember as a kid, my mother left for about 3 days for a trip, and my cat was so sad while she was gone. He kept on waiting by the window for her to come back. And when she did, he was so mad at her for leaving, he ignored her for another 3 days.
Dogs almost never do it and there is countless cases of dogs dying of sadness for losing their owners Dogs are the most loyal animals on earth Cats arent even close to dogs loyalty
My one cat would probably wait until she runs out of options and my other cat would probably start eating me the moment he runs out of dry food in his bowl
Experts have revealed that dogs are more likely than cats to eat their owner's dead body, but which breed of dog you have can effect how likely it is your corpse will be eaten.
@@CassidyiszMe83 not really they usually suffer a loss of appetite right away they basically fall into a dog depression what woke study was thus you never sourced
This is not actually too true true dogs and cats both will wait until there’s no other food left in the house that they can easily access before eating you
As far as I've known, cats rarely ever ate their owners after they died. Dogs on the other hand have more such cases where they started eating the owner, sometimes even before they died. And apparently hamsters will form a home in the ribcage of their owner.
Besides, they will still miss the owner , there is a case where an old lady died and the family took care of the cat and the cat was really sad, I think it’s on RU-vid, it’s really sad
Eh why do I feel like dogs would eat me before a cat would.. why? Because dogs can chew through bones and animal flesh. My cat chews small bites , has tiny teeth and has trouble chewing on canned cat food chicken pieces
My grandmother when she was 82 was losing circulation to her extremities. Sometimes her fingers or feet would go completely numb. One day she woke up because she felt her leg being tugged on. She looked down and her cat had eaten half her big toe. They don’t always wait for you pass before they eat you.
@@keenari0470 I'm sorry about your Grandmother's toe. But I have never heard of a cat eating any part of a live living human. I have had Cats all my life. 🐆
My cat gives me a big ol' chomp in the morning when he wants me to give him treat-os, so can confirm. Also, I love my cat so much, if he had to eat me to survive, I would be fine with it.
I'm fine w/ that cuz bro, cats are just a mini version of lions, tigers, cheetahs and leopards. I'm already surprised my cat is waiting for my death to eat me
Doesnt matter the type of dogs all dogs still extremely loyal and the chances of them starving to death or dying because of sadness is 100 times higher than the chance of them eating you
Yeah.. I don't think my cats would start eating my body after only 24 hours. That sounds wonky. Maybe after a few days or a week with no food, but definitely not 24 hours.
If I die alone in a locked apartment with my dog. I would be devastaed if he did not eat me to survive and ended up with me before his time. Seriously, Im dead. Go nuts my boy!😊
Tbh, i love my cat so much. If I died alone and my baby boy was hungry, I'd understand. He needs to eat, and while not ideal, I'd be happy that at least I was able to provide for him one last time before someone could find him and take him in
Remember people, we never actually tamed them like dogs. They just arrived and continued to vide with humanity. They are literlly pocket size wild animals that vide with humans. Thus respect them. Dogs are a tamed animal, cats aren't
Yes they are they’re literally domesticated animals and were tamed by humans. Just not bred as extensively for many types of labor as dogs. their only real job is killing rodents and providing companionship so they were bred to be cuter and friendlier while still having a strong hunting Instinct. Please see what wild undomesticated cats are like before spreading weird misinformation to slander housecats. I also heavily doubt the authenticity of the information that your cat would just immediately eat you apon finding your dead body.
We have 4 kitties. 2 boys and two girls. Our biggest boy nibbles at my husband arms every morning. I tell hubby it's because the cat loves him and wants him to wake-up. I know the OTHER reason is to see if he's dead and is now on the menu.
