Stephen just running out the Siege Rhino with all those Walkers on board was such unbelievable hope beyond hope, when it's the entire focus of the deck.

It is so awesome to see my Sisay deck played! (I had the Ragavan in there incase i had nothing else to do with Sisay on the field with no other Legends, also the treasures are yummy)

Only problem with fan suggestion decks is power level is always a little off scale. A siege rhino focused deck is fun, but not on the same level as a 5-color super friends deck

And ticking up planeswalkers don't double the loyalty because that's a payment to activate the ability not an effect putting counters on them. Now if he had Vorinclex Monster Rauder, that would double the loyalty through the cost.

I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed seeing Corey enjoying himself and having fun with his superfriends. He seemed uncomfortable about snowballing, so I didn't see any posturing. I enjoy seeing the boys enjoy their decks, regardless of who they are.

Can we talk about the doubling season misplays? 😂 Corey should have made 6 Octopus tokens with the Kiora ult, due to Doubling Season. More importantly, when he +1s a Planeswalker with Doubling Season out, it only adds 1 counter not 2. Adding the counter is part of the ability cost, not an effect. Doubling Season only triggers on effects adding counters. None of it would affect the end of the game, just minor misplays.

@@hunterblan nah, the Planeswalker will enter the battlefield with doubles the counters on it if doubling season is out. But activating the loyalty abilities don't trigger doubling season.

As I'm sure you've seen, that's not how doubling season works. But other ones, like vorinclex and the white 3 drop from baulders gate DO give you extra loyalty because they are worded differently. Just so you know. :3 have fun doubling counters!

Is it bad i just want the deck list that Corey had to see which planewalkers he was actually playing. I know he was playing alot of the stronger ones like nissa and such but i still want to see it

Its always funny to see corey learn about whats good in commander. Like, as a 1v1 player, you'd think super friends would be bad because there are 3 people to attack your walkers. Then you realize that you cant really trade creatures in combat in commander because you die when you do that, so they are actually insane because like a single good blocker keeps them all alive.

I really thought my deck was going to suck going into it i'm not going to lie. Figured as I play a walker it would just get attacked down. My start was also really really strong for this game!

It’s a common misconception that nearly EVERY MTG content creator makes when talking about planeswalkers in Commander. It ignores some very key factors: 1. What makes you think every player can/will stop everything they are doing to kill planeswalkers 2. Even if they do, they look up after spending an entire game attacking and see your still at 35+ life, because they’ve been hitting planeswalkers and not you. 3. This is all assuming that for some reason your superfriends deck isn’t running a million board wipes like it should. 4. There are still other players that each one has to worry about. They can’t just focus on you…well, until its probably too late.

@@CyberNewType not every game is you getting a turn 1 ragavan into opponents soul ring and nissa who shakes the world + oko, two of arguably best planeswalkers at sticking to the board. If others were at least somewhat on curve with their stuff the planeswalker deck can't do anything

Also with my walker deck it is built to be very resilient. There were many times when I have played at my LGS where I was behind the entire game then boom one good turn with something other than a planeswalker and I am either in or winning the game.

Doubling season doesn't double counters when you activate planeswalkers because they are part of a cost. You are not "putting counters on" them when you activate them. FYI

@hunterblan you keep telling everyone to "look it up" however the ruling for Doubling Season does not increase the number of loyalty counters while you are activating the ability as cost and effect are two separate interactions. If Corey had out a Vorinclex from Kaldheim additional loyalty counters would be added when a planeswalker was activated.

It doesn't give them extra activations or double their tick ups, but it does doubles their loyalty upon entering.

@@kyleb7047 I never said it gives them extra activations. I stated that doubling season doesn’t double planeswalker activations. So a +1 is just a +1 and not a +2. This is because doubling season only doubles the counters caused by effects, and loyalty abilities are costs. Please double check your mtg knowledge 🤡

@30:30 Nope. They all get cast at the same time, you choose the order they go on the stack. Then they start resolving. This was resolved incorrectly.

aminatou's augury says "Until end of turn, for each nonland card type, you may cast a spell of that type from among the exiled cards without paying its mana cost." - you cast them one at a time, not as part of resolution of the spell

Nope. "until end of turn" is on augury. Which means you have to follow timing restrictions, but they don't go on the stack at the same time. So that was actually resolved correctly

My favorite thing to do is show people, who have just learned how to play Magic and Commander, one of these episodes. Then I tell them that that Corey is a pro player who has been to the Pro tour. And the rest of them work with MTG cards as their job. Their reaction is always priceless.😂 It may sound mean, but seriously, when you have 4 people in a room, including a pro tour player, and a director, and they all can’t get a card right that a new player can, it does a lot to relieve new player stress about needing to know everything right away.

Pw are bad in commander. Eaven if they protect themself they don t do tath much until they use the ultimate. And you are banking on them to survive 3 other players. There are ecceptions but they are niche.

@monkeydgaming5170 I get the error part. It happens but it continously happens.. plus very often at local game play they referenced these shows like oh that's how it works. So others will continously play it wrong because there is no need to look it up.. all I'm saying is have a judge there..

Got to love the deck that probably cost $400 won. Not surprised. Some people submit decks with like zero budget constraints and just cram in the most expensive cards I swear.

Ok first off, $400 isn't that much for a commander deck. That's about how much most of my decks are, and I try to avoid staples. Second, monkey dryad and doubling season alone is $100 at least, and shocks and triomes all put together are probably another $100 plus. So honestly it was probably much more than $400. And third, most importantly, it doesn't matter how much the deck costs. What actually matters is that he had about 7 mana on turn 3, which really let him snowball.

What a miserable game. Super friends has to be put in the dirt the second it gains traction or it runs away with the game. One of the most boring archetypes to play against and certainly one of the worst to watch.
