Being a makeup artist myself I'm always curious about how others work and what they carry in their kits etc. But I am so tired of seeing those huge cases loaded with tons of products. I love efficiency and minimalism when comes to my kit and this is exactly what I can see in your video. I absolutely love it. The content of my kit differs from job to job obviously, but I don't need 4 different foundation formulas all of them in 20 shades, 200 different eyeshadows and so on. Sometimes I think that "makeup artists" forgot how to mix or adjust colors and formulas. Thank you for bringing back a little bit of that old school artistry. xo
I Would love to see what brushes you would pack for a single klient too - love your kit - but allways wonder how RCMA palettes work on dry or oily skin too - and lastly - would you do a 'makeup artist q&a' - where you answer work related questions only??
I completely agree!!! That would be great to see him do each on a model like Charlotte Tilbury's does in here video tutorials and explain the application technique as he performs 👍!!
There’s also no excuse for having light shades either. Deep shades shouldn’t get more priority over everything else just because they’re deep skin. People with all kinds of shades ware makeup and a fair person’s needs is just a relevant as a black person’s needs
What about brushes?? And can you do a tutorial for the "playboy" style makeup you were talking about? It sounds pretty but I can't really picture it fully.
Wayne your so classy and professional... You've been around way before it was "cool" to be a beauty you tuber ... They could all learn a lot from you 🌊✌🏽️❤️
I have very streamlined small sort of minimalist makeup kit and I love having it that way. Everyone always talks about the what if somebody asks for a certain thing and it's true, it's never happened. I'm glad you made this it makes me feel better
The best way how to apply the RCMA foundation is to put a tiny amount on the back of your hand and warm it up. Then pat it on the face with your fingers and blend with a clean, dry synthetic foundation brush. Better start with a thin layer and add more where you need, it does layer up nicely.
This video (and over all your way of thinking on this subject) makes me feel good and that I'm going down the right path. Last week I did the makeup of two 8 year old girls for a dance festival, and since I knew what their mothers wanted me to do I brought enough makeup to fulfill the job, wich was a very small quantity of eyeliners and eyeshadows, also the job was very far away so it was best this way. When I started doing the makeup one of the mothers told me that she was surprised that i was working with so little, as a makeup artst I should've come prepared, as if I didn't knew what I was doing...
Wayne...you are AMAZING!! I've been watching your videos since I discovered youtube and you thought me so much!!! You don't just slap some make up on...you think about ingredients, formular, skintype and so much more. Thank you for teaching me so much about make up!!
Thank you Wayne for this video. It was very informative. I always have a hard time picking what makeup to pack and end up taking too much and I when don't use it when I travel and your video helps me to keep it basic. I'm so glad I found your channel about a year ago. You are so informative and love all your videos. Your the best one out there. Thanks again.
I am a make up artist originally from good old Blightly but now based in Tasmania. I try to carry as small a kit as possible, as to be honest packing and unpacking a huge case of make up is not my favourite thing to to do. I have often arrived on location and worked with other make up artists who have the biggest kits I have ever seen and sometimes that is really intimidating to me! I really love this video Wayne as it gives me the confidence to downsize even more. Thanks you gorgeous thing you! xx
I have so much respect for how simplified you are in your approach. You are so different from every other makeup artist on youtube. Whenever I want quality advice, I turn to your channel, Thank you so much for all of your time Wayne!
I'm not Wayne but in art especially women seem to be "rounder" not saying that angular women aren't feminine they are equally as beautiful, look at women you think look nice and how their faces look and experiment with soft highlight and contour... Sorry if this wasn't clear but if that is you in your picture you're beautiful
Mind blown. I am definitely going to decompress my kit tomorrow. I carry a Zuca with me, a Mac travel case, plus my lighting kit, to every appointment I have. It's really heavy and bulky! Thanks for this video!
I am such an over packer. When I go to client's houses it looks like I'm stopping for a week LOL lugging a huge suitcase about. I need the RCMA palette!
I've been saving for a while now to undergo a professional make-up course and in the meanwhile you're one of the few people I would actually listen to and learn from on RU-vid. A huge thank you for making these clean, to the point and very informative videos. 💗
Wayne, I just purchased your eye kit on Beautylish. They work beautifully! I love your videos. Concise and thorough. Every time you wink at the end of your videos,my heart just skips a beat! Thanks for all the wonderful content you bring us!
thank you for making this video! i am starting my career as an esthetician & makeup artist at a salon soon (and we have a lot of bridal clients). I am self taught (in makeup) and have some experience in that area but it has been awhile since I have worked as a makeup artist. I am rebuilding my kit and I've been a little stressed because makeup can be expensive. I don't have the luxury of splurging too much right now because I am actually saving for my own wedding. But seeing this video makes me feel so much better.
This makes me feel so much better about my kit. I always feel weird not walking in with my entire collection. But I've come to realize that as long as I ask about what the color theme is before hand and have my staples I'm good. Prom makeup can tend to use more color but bridal is always the same. Always.
love your honesty. love your work. love your wisdom. love because you're a world renowned mua but you share it with us. love the oldschool part. love the way you describe your style. still love you after all this years!! love from indonesia. xxoo
Love seeing such a minimal makeup kit from a pro!!! I've watched sooooo many makeup kit videos where so many are carrying wayyy too much (granted, I do too), but I'm really striving to minimize what I bring for my freelance gigs! Thanks Wayne! You're always to-the-point with your videos. 👌🏼
This is basically what my kit looks like. I always say you never need a lot in your kit for a flawless makeup application. Glad to know I'm not the only pro with a "tiny" kit.
Love this..... You are so right. I know I take way to much stuff out on jobs, and the "what if" stuff never gets used. You have inspired me to cut it down x
U r awesome! I know u probably get tired of hearing/reading that but it's so true! U never forget us WOC. It just feels good to see a makeup artist who's not brown, always keeping in mind that we want to get glammed-up too. Love u to pieces! 💕💕💕
thank you so much for this! I'm researching what I need for my pro kit and was terrified I'd have to spend hundreds of dollars on hundreds of products! this has lifted a massive weight off my shoulders :)
I love you for being simple, down to earth and very organized. I always feel I'm there with you standing next to this mirror, you feel so close and real :) Kisses from Miami Goss
Hi Wayne! Love to follow your opinions and videos. Loved and appreciated your personal story. Cannot help but admire your mother and definitely appreciate the love and respect you show her. We all have been given a life that takes us on so many different journeys. Many of which are often very difficult. But what we encounter on those journeys and how we react can definitely shape us into the individuals we are meant to be. Positive reactions breed postive results. I have always said the bigger the battle the greater the victory! Anyway, here is what I want to tell you. I purchased your #13 brush a while back and I have found it to be my "go to" brush all the time! It can do everything!! LOVE my Wayne Goss brush! Thanks!
I used to carry so much, now I have it down to a tote bag size (incl brushes, disposables etc). So much easier. Dont forget some bobby pins - a must have
I love your videos; I appreciate seeing someone who actually appreciates - and masters - the art of natural makeup without looking ridiculously overdone. Very talented :)
I've been doing makeup for 8 years now and I've learned that less is more, especially when traveling to a client. My makeup kit is very similar to yours and RCMA is amazing!
Hi Wayne, I love your honesty and you are full of great advice for us girls it's amazing how you know more about our faces and make up than we do. Every girl needs a friend like you. Love n Big hugs from Sydney Australia xx ☺☺💖💖
I agree with carrying a smaller amount in your kit or customizing for the event. I am in makeup school now....and our "basic" kit includes pallets...multifunctional items. I was going to make up a bigger one...but I am certainly rethinking it...just having a small shoulder bag with my disposables. Too much stuff in your kit can feel overwhelming. XO
This is a really helpful video to those (like me) are starting out as a makeup artist and agonising over what to include/not include in your kit. Love your videos Wayne. You are inspiring X
This was so helpful! I'm an aspiring makeup artist who doesn't have a ton of money to invest in a kit right now. This really helped me to see that you don't need every product ever to create beautiful makeup looks on clients! :)
I'm about to travel to Thailand from the US for a month and I'm trying to keep the space my makeup takes up to a minimum. This video really helped me figure out what I need in my kit 😊💗 Thanks
pack your makeup in order of what will you use for example primer foundation concealer .... It really helps me organize more and also try creamy lipsticks as blusher ! Specially Thailand is super hot! have a safe flight!.
Im just starting out as a freelance makeup artist and honestly, everyone online just scares me tf out. I don’t have enough money rn to build a kit as big as the ones ive seen online. This made me feel so comfortable, thankyou so much for this.
This is really helpful! I'm trying to scale down my collection before I go to college, because I'm not using the whole thing and it's just taking up space. I've always loved your philosophy with makeup. Great video!
The 90's look always reminds me of 'mum' makeup...the berry/bitten lipstick, kohl eyes, natural glow to cheeks...a Pamela Anderson look! It's probably why it is my 'easy option' makeup look...as the 90s were when I first started trying make up! Would love to see it recreated as I think it will the next make up 'trend' contrast to this overdone 'on fleek' stuff! Lol X
You look different Wayne, you're gorgeous. I've been out of the loop on your videos and watching this I realized how much I've missed you. Much love xxxxx
90s Super Model makeup is amazing. Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Kathy Ireland, Heidi Klum. That George Michaels song featuring all the super models. OMG The BEST! =)
Hi Wayne ! I hadn't watched your videos in a while and today I chanced upon one of your videos again. oh my God what a huge transformation . You look great . Good going !
Hey Wayne, I know it's gonna sound really weird but.. For some reason, I just wanted to tell you that my heart warms up every time I see you in a video. You seem like such a nice, kind, genuinely good person. I'm not even such a makeup enthusiast but I had to subscribe, because I'm a 100% sure your opinions are real and you are an incredible makeup artist.
I love that makeup bag! Besides the size, it's Clear so you can see/find everything! Also, thank you for that Blush Tip! that you can use lipstick as a cream blush...I'm Obsessed with matching my blush to my lips, so this is a great tip. I'm sure I've heard it before, but now it sunk in :-)
i personally do carry a lot in my kit but bc i love doing all kinds of work varying from bridal to high fashion and hopefully red carpet/ tv and film soon and of course sfx but i have a seperate kit for that but its awesome to see the simplicity and how you dont need it all to be the best :)
wow! I thought I needed like 6 million dollars worth of makeup and gear! you've helped me realize to focus more on skills than stuff! thanks so much for posting this!
Hi Wayne - great video, so useful!! I would love a follow up video to this one, showing how you use your kit on a client or pretend client. Such a useful video, thanks again 😍😍
I'm such an overpacker even with my makeup kit - this video is just what I needed. Thank you very much, Wayne! BTW, does anyone know what brand is this big clear bag, please? I love It!
I got a set of 3, one big, medium and small exactly the same from Tesco...got them for my hospital bag a while ago but Amazon/eBay will probably have something very similar/same X Will link if find X
+My Kit Co.™ I have it from My kit co. and thay are really different from the ones you can find at the supermarket😉 i love it! And my kit is never been so organised!
I love you mentioned Alexis Vogel. About 20 years ago I bought her makeup kit. Still some of the best foundation I have ever tried. One of the only to be pale enough for my complexion. I think she and the company parted ways so I have never found a cream foundation like that since.
I’m trying to pack lighter as a makeup artist and came across this great video! It’s really help condense my kit! Questions: can you make a video addressing somethings? Like typically how long should it take you to do a full face? Or what if you have multiple models/clients how long should each one take without taking away from the look?! What about a sanitation essentials kit?! I’ve run across some artists that don’t even have one or know what to put in it? An updated video on how to properly sanitize your kit: foundations, eyeshadows etc.. I would love to know more from your perspective! Thanks!! :)
I have always believed that my kit was small and had the basics to work well , but yours surpasses it , I still have to go with a suitcase. thinking un make it smaller now.
Wayne, this is amazing. I always take way too much stuff with me (a stuffed Zuca plus backpack) and this is really inspirational. Defenitely gonna use your tips right away, I happen to have to pack for a job tomorrow.
Thank you.. I'm ordering it today to add to my huge crazy makeup collection. I really love Makeup Atlier anti-aging foundation, moisturizing base & the pearl powder you showed on your all highlight video i sunlit..these products are gorgeous..Thanks again, Doreen G. xx
Love the simplicity and even the bands around each product why do I complicate everything? Love this!! Also a new subscriber / fan and love that your videos are so short and to the point but yet still informative and personable!
This is so informative Wayne! I am building my pro makeup kit now and I am proud I choose the same products as yours! I am starting with the basics and then will expand the collection more Thank you
I really wish you would talk more about the products. Like what number is that RCMA foundation palette? I'm trying to build my kit and I would love to know! Also the lipstick palette. Did you buy it like that? Did you depot your lipsticks? Where can I get that as an empty palette? So many questions! I would rather a longer video, than a short one of you going "This is my foundation palette, this is my lipstick palette"
It’s great to see that you don’t need 284739174 products in your kit to be successful. I am just starting mine and was very afraid I didn’t have enough but I have everything or a variation of it that you do!
Great video. I usually do editorial work, so I always know what Im going to do. Either way my complete kit its quite small for a make up artist, maybe 3 of that bags. And it works perfectly, I can do it all. I never buy a product if I dont really need it. When buying a new product it has to give me something that I can't really achieve with the products on my kit already.
