I'm 61 years old, and this is a brand new career for me. I've done so many chapters in my life and this is something I've always wanted to do - coming at it from being a fitness instructor & personal trainer for a few years. always been a car / truck guy. The death of one of my sons turned my head around and now I am out to do the things that interest me and there is no way I will miss out. Thanks for your video and the positivity you have. I'll do great.

Every job has negativities , even if u have a phd even an MD , you start at 60k a year and that's a phd !!! So if u are first year trucker and you run hard and make 50 k your first year and that's not hard to do that's great , second year u can double it if u are smart and find the right carrier that u can work with or even be a trainer and double your salary for sure ... what's really important is staying safe out there and take care of that cdl ... thanks for your support man keep doing what you doing

I just spent three weeks at my companies terminal training and met a lot of truckers... lots of negativity. However, there are positive drivers that love what they do. Got to stay positive. Make chicken salad out of chicken shit! Everything in life is what you make it.

I'm not in the industry but I know it's like anything else yet approached understanding there are things that are going to be the high in the low you're going to have to work at it . you might say it is that it's your business , it's your life, it's your career, it's your environment you're going to have to make it what it is by working at it. Absolutely nothing else out there is anything different not one single kind of work or trade. if you're going to run it like a business and make it your career you're going to have to establish the boundaries, understand it and learn to accept it is exactly what it is. no matter what task or trade you are doing..

Misery loves company. There is a lot of negativity on the internet and RU-vid about certain companies and trucking as a career. Easy to get caught up in that crap and it rubs off onto a person fast. You don't start at the top in any job, remember that. There is NO substitute for experience.

I went to truck driving school always see ads for local truck routes, but all of them call and say need 1,2 sometimes 3 years experience. Wish I knew this before school. Had interviews with local routes but you have to peddle product and the days off and hours are not stable. Going OTR would be a big challenge for me right now. Any advice? Good videos

First, thanks for your service! Man, you are speaking my language. I start Trucking School next week. I'm really excited but nervous as well. Never been behind the wheel and those things look big! Not sure where I'll end up but I'm going with the attitude that the first year will be tough, but nothing comes easy. So some growing pains and learning from my mistakes will make the 2nd year better! Good luck to you!

What are the odds of not quitting but getting fired for a new driver. Im sure all the trip planning, hours of service, dot inspections, proper weight distrubution , being on time for delivery , lack of sleep etc....all this has to be very stressful and somewhat overwhelming for a rookie. How easy is it to lose your job if a few mistakes are made , such as a few late deliveries? This has to be a common concern for some. Thanks
@supertrucker1356
@supertrucker1356 6 лет назад
A hard part of a rookie driver might be finding a place to rest. Better start planning an hour before your 11 hour clock runs down. Walmart parking lots are usually a great option
@Italianborn
@Italianborn 3 года назад
No company will ever fire you if you run just a bit late.. there's traffic, accident, road condition to keep in mind.. learn how to read a map or find a place to rest, or to get used to be on road 24/7 , those will be some of the issues
