There are lots of soft luggage that IS waterproof too, and it tends to be more lightweight than hard luggage, which allows you a little more wiggle room while packing. Everyone has their preference though! Keeping a dry bag for your rain gear keeps the moisture away from everything else you pack :)

10 out of 10 to whoever came up with the idea of these short videos. Well thought out, and very informative. 👍👍

Thanks Adam, some really good info. My top tip for soft luggage - throw out the bungee cords, buy a set of ROK Straps. :-)

Totally agree. No matter how careful you are bungees are lethal eye out devices and can leave convincing scratches

It is nice at Bridlington! My first holiday on a bike was when I was 16, on a Suzuki 50 M12. A great little bike. I did 800 miles in a week, of which about 150 miles was with a pillion (I was already a full icense holder). Great fun, all around Devon, including Dartmoor and the north and south coasts. 49 years later I'm still touring. Most recent trip last year to Morocco.

Excellent bike prep talk than the live event held by Bennett’s recently, all that Simon went on about was tyres 😒, this clip mentions most of it, well done 👍

Another good training video Adam. Perfect timing too as I just upgraded my bike and a bit of touring around here in NZ is on the cards. A bit different to riding from Grimsby to Bridlington which I also did many years ago. Keep up the good work :)

If it's your first time touring with the wife and totally loaded with bags and paraphernalia beware...its a different world to cruising on your own bagless. Its highly enjoyable of course but would recommend some basic car park manoeuvring practice two up and loaded to adjust to the bike dynamics and new weight. Practicing a single on/off pillion loading procedure when loaded will limit the embarrassment factor when using ferries and the like. Comms for two up touring is essential assuming you still want that marital experience on the bike! Above all enjoy and dont overreach on your first trip away. If you carry a pillion and it's a bad experience then they ain't gonna get on again....

Recommend a duffle bag with holes to put a bungee cord through, not all of them have the holes.

Great tips. Also worth checking the bike’s / owner’s manual for the weight loading limits. These should be listed and will show values for maximum loading weights front, back, +rider inc protective gear weight, pillion weight etc. You’d be surprised how low the weight limits are for most touring bikes and how easy it is to exceed them two up with kit. Also to know that the Police could prosecute for overloading with fines up to £5,000 depending on income. But at least it’s a non-endorsable offence. But could get messy in court if you’re overloaded and have a collision. Yeah, hate to be a bore folks and spoil the fun on it but safety 1st.

Absolutely loving these videos, I’m learning LOADS! I’ve been following WSB, BSB & roads for years ( plus a bit of Moto GP if there’s no other racing on!) but I have no knowledge WHATSOEVER about the mechanical & technical side of bikes ( nobody else in my family interested so nobody to tag on to to learn from either sadly which I’m gutted about as I find it really interesting and your videos are making me want to know more and more!) I hear a lot of racers talking about “the chassis being too stiff” in certain bikes and as such they’re suited/not suited to transition from short circuit to roads. Any chance you could explain what’s meant by this please? Is it something that can be compensated for in set up? Is it something that would be a “preference” for a specific track or a specific rider? i.e nobody wants a bike with a stiff chassis for the North West or TT because of the surface or is it a personal rider preference thing? I’m so sorry if this is a stupid question but I’ve got no other way to find out the answer! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thanks, and keep the videos coming! 👍🏻
