Your Guide to Hiking French Ridge Hut | Mt. Aspiring National Park | New Zealand

In today's adventure, I wanted something a little more difficult and out of the normal tourist trail so when I heard about the French Ridge Track I knew that this was the one I wanted to challenge myself with. Apart from that, I felt like there wasn't enough information out there that gave a good idea on what it even looked like and if it was worth it for those on limited time. So here it is, an informational video with tips on the French Ridge Hut Track via the Matukituki valley track.
Hike is 17km one way using the Matukituki valley track that connects to the French Ridge Track at the pearl flats. The hut sits at 4,500 feet and cost per night is $25 NZD per person per night. This is paid at the Mt Aspiring Hut on the way to the French Ridge Hut. Thanks 🙏🏼 This car park is a one stop place to do rob roy track, cascade saddle track and Liverpool hut. Lots of options both challenging and easy

Thanks Sam. Mt aspiring national park and Mt Cook National park were my top places. Get them at early light or sunset and everything glows.

Really helpful video - thank you! If all the bunks are full do you know if hikers are allowed to put their own sleeping mat (e.g. therma rest) on the floor inside or do you have to bring a tent as back up during the high season (summer)?
