As a train enthusiast, while I’m sad to see the old trains go I’m so excited to see new trains arrive! I like the features of the new Class 777 Metro units.
@@AymanTravelTransport the class 507s and 508s by themselves already have more seats than the 777, so technically the class 777 is basically a downgrade
I don't like most modern new trains, that's just me, but these are actually really nice. It'll be sad to see the 507/508s go though. These 777s look a bit like trams to me too
Though it's sad to see the PEPs being replaced, it's much needed due to the age and restrictions so, these trains look like they'll do a good job, stadler seem to be very good at building trains
@@AymanTravelTransport I've seen vandalised trains in literally every city I've ever been to. They're easy targets. Whether it's more likely to happen in Liverpool, I'll let others discuss.
@@kevingraham2733 nope, was just making a joke about the crime rates in Liverpool (possibly outdated tho), but then again its probably similar to other big cities like Glasgow or London overall which renders the joke redundant as you're probably pointing out - deleted the comment anyway as I've realised it's not the right place for it anyways
At 1m 36s thought the lady was attempting to shove usb plug in the live terminal of the UK 3 pin socket! Plastic bezels on socket all the same colour and socket up side down.....how many kids going to do same? Nice trains
Live neutral protection can be bypassed! When sockets first installed on trains ....scotes had a lovely game of leaving a pin in the live connection...for some on to rest there legs on! And not saying Liverpool is full of scrotes!..but?....FYI born and raised till 16 within 3 miles of liverbirds😄
@@burgerpommes2001 No ac system is infallible especially not one that has the immense work and long hours of use as one on a train. In my opinion a good compromise is similar to the design on the Southern 377's with hopper windows that are locked out until required and are well fitted so they don't rattle like on older BR era stock.
@@pooletrainboy Open windows on an underground train is too noisy. I always have to slam the windows closed on the 507 and 508s as you cant hear yourself think.
Oh no I'd hope there'd be both included, 507, 508 and 777. They already have the 313 or 314 to model it off (Also Rivets new route is diesel btw so it's definitely not this)
huge fan of these trains, can comfortably (out)compete with what operates in London. would have thought they'd have learned from the BR700 trains to not include ironing board seats though...
On the one hand, they seem to be designing the train to be idiot proof. On the other hand, passengers are now responsible for opening doors. This should be fun to watch....
Love this video. But on another note: I find myself a bit puzzled by the current channel Name (Merseyrail Electrics). I have heard about the Wessex Electrics, and if one were to follow that naming example more strictly, _Merseyside Electrics_ would be more consistent. Or _Mersey Electrics_ even. Which could actually be merged into *Merseylectrics* (or _Merselectrics_) 😮💡 Greetings from Germany
507's weren't second hand, they've worked the network from new. Some of the 508's were temporarily used down south before being brought up to their intended network.
I think they will be going forward, the tyne and wear metro 555 trains will have the same technology. Its an expensive effort however as most platforms need to be either lowered or hightened to accomodate them. I can see this being an issue with larger networks.

@@MichelleW870 they said that about the 507s too. I was one of them. Its the same when anything new comes in. The old is always better than the new. Until the "new" get replaced, then it starts all over again
Ridden on one today for the first time. I found the seats comfortable enough for a 20 minute ride: I can't think would be much different even on the longest journeys Merseyrail run. But it's all down to personal preference of course.
I’m paying for this on my travel and I don’t need a MANAGER I’m not a 4 year old I would like to think I won’t get sucked out a window, and as for the sliding platform why bother no one needs it
If the sliding step wasn’t there, there’d be a giant gap between the train and the platform which is relatively inconvenient for wheelchair, bike and pushchair users. I’m not sure about the train manager either, but I assume it’ll come in handy for some passengers.
The sliding platform will be one of the most useful features, especially for older passangers and wheelchairs, currently staff have to deploy a ramp to allow wheelchairs to get on/off the train. Passengers will be able to do this temselves now without assistance.
Havig seen the struggle some people have with the step up on the present trains, let alone with prams and wheelchairs, it is a great advantage to have level boarding. Also saves platform staff from having to manoeuvre ramps, or the anxiety of passengers who are not sure when or if one will appear.
