NAM is the best thing that ever happened to my guitar and my mixes. So happy with this.

I haven't done any real mixes with it yet, but some of the models immediately sit well with the rest of the mix.

Nice that you provided professional-looking credits to the people doing the amp capture and IR creations. The community is going to make this technology soar! Excellent video.
@NLNPNL

Thanks very much. The culture of the community around NAM is very generous right now. People worked hard to create the amp models and IRs. Some of them spent a great deal of money to do so. The least I could do was credit them.

NAM es perfecto para grabar y producir guitarras en estudio. Además de ser gratuito, no necesitas gastar tiempo buscando los modelos, ya que con una docena bien elegidos según tu estilo ya comienzas.

You’re so right on this. I spent years (and money) trying to make sim amps sound the right way without success. Thanks your video. It is awesome.

NICE demo! NAM has definitely taken the world by storm. The comunity and support is unreal also. Ps: nice demo track! In all my years of metal shredding, I still can't do a proper AC/DC feeling solo. Haha. Cheers

I didn't know it was going to be an AC/DC style solo until I did it 😂 Thanks for the compliments on the track. And I agree, NAM is great!

I was like woah! How does Lead 2 sound so "open", less compressed than the other sounds. It's just the capture of the BB pedal, straight into the cab IR??!? No amp!? How come I've never thought of that? haha
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL Год назад
NAM can capture distortion pedals, for sure. And that's right, you wouldn't typically load an additional IR for a pedal. Some of the nam models were captured by recording a mic on a speaker cabinet, so you wouldn't need an IR in that case. My understanding though, is that NAM is optimized for capture without a speaker and adding an IR later.

Hi. Thanks for the great video! Can you please tell me do you know is NAM technology capable of capturing reverbs, delays or hardware comressors? Sorry on my bad English.
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL Год назад
NAM can capture the tonal characteristics of a compressor, but not the compression action. It doesn't do time-based FX such as reverb, chorus, or delay.

A new rabbit hole for guitar players
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL Год назад
Yeah. You can spend your life going through tonehunt listening to sounds. What I do is go into the Facebook group occasionally. Every couple of weeks, somebody comes along and talks about how great a particular capture is. I sometimes go check those out. Other than that, I limit the rabbit hole to times I'm about to record guitar.

This sure has hit the ground running. Any body know where to find a setup video for Ableton? I'm on Win OS7 🤔which might be the issue. I can get the standalone up and going, just cant get it to show up in Ableton.. or Reaper for that matter.

Hi newbie here. how can i use delay & reverb on this vst? can someone help me 😅
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL Год назад
If you want to add additional fx, you'll have to load NAM in a DAW, or a VST host such as Cantabile. And you would typically load NAM and the put the FX after it, in the signal chain.
@spyware1100

nam is good, but have it's flaws. It's a community app, meaning that captures quality varies a lot. For me, most amp models are quiet and lack of high end. Hard to guess the proper input volume, varies a lot depending on the person who made the capture. Finding usable tones is a trial and error process, meaning you have to try out dozens of captures to find 2-3 that works well for your taste
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL Год назад
Tonehunt now has amp models ranked by popularity. It quickly becomes obvious that a few folks are making really good captures. Stick to those and it's a lot less trial and error.

Yeah, there's some bad models. Use the search function in the ghetto 6 to search for bass.

What about latency?
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL Год назад
It is a bit of a CPU hog. It works at whatever latency you set your DAW at. For the standalone version there's also a setting. I found it will pop and click of I have something else running, such as RU-vid. Other than that, I didn't experience any latency issues.
@milankotevski1663
@milankotevski1663 Год назад
The latency depends on your PC and audio interface specs, not the plugin.
@GuitarAcademia
@GuitarAcademia Год назад
Would be cool to know how much latency this plugin creates. Ignite NadIR has no latency
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL Год назад
@@GuitarAcademia here's a quote from a user, Rune Thoen: "Just trying out a possible live setup. Using an RME interface, Macbook M1 and Live Professor 2 as host, I can easily use a 16 (!) samples buffer and get a total latency of 2.15 ms (forgot the output buffer: 2.5 ms it is) from analog in to analog out. That's less latency than just about every modeler out there. Plays like a dream." Basically, the latency is determined by how you set your buffer size. If your computer can handle smaller buffer sizes, it will be a very small amount of latency.
