@Stuart Hall - Theo Von was just being honest when he said the jokes Tom Segura made offended him, but he knew that he was in the wrong and not Tom - it's not like he went and lashed out at Segura or anything. He said that he realised it was just jokes and he shouldn't be so up tight about it on his podcast. Theo is just super honest.

Algiz that practice is indeed still ongoing, albeit from what I've read to a lesser but still substantial degree, and brings with a whole host of social and environmental issues. Not in the least the children who try to steal the "death shrouds" that are placed on the corpses to resell them for the literal equivalent of pennies. But that's not a major city. Major cities, where the middle and upper income households are we have everything from lame you tubers to people cutting carbs and a Starbucks on every other corner. It's very different from the general perception of India abroad which is, through no fault of the misinformed individual, is highly skewed towards slumdog millionaire and poverty porn documentaries. There are plenty of local Mommies here too and tens of millions of comedy fans following the whole ring of podcasts from YMH to JRE and the DTFH.

I've no doubt the things you mentioned are true. Nor do I need to try and discredit them, obviously, since I haven't been to India myself(only friends have and have told me about the place). That would be like a virgin sexual therapist trying to tell someone about sex. Considering there are more than a billion people in India they're likely to have tens of millions of any kind of person. What you said about Varanasi not being a major city(and of course by Indian standards it isn't) comes across as funny to me since I live in a tiny European country where the population of Varanasi alone would take care of a fifth of our overall population. Puts things into perspective.
