Hii friends!!
This week I reacted to "Your Name" (2016)!
So this is the first time a NON-GHIBLI FILM HAS WON A POLL ON PATREON - AND I DID NOT EXPECT THAT AT ALL. So naturally I thought it wasn't going to be up to par with one of Miyazaki's movies but... it somehow was. This movie was phenomenal and I'd have to say.. one of my all time favorites. Thank you guys SO MUCH FOR RECOMMENDING IT because it was SOOOOO worth the watch and if you haven't seen it GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW.
As soon as the movie ended I cried SO much and it hit me really hard. I think this movie was beautiful, the artwork was amazing and the storyline (as confusing as it got at times) tied together well at the end and didn't leave many unanswered questions. I HIGHLY recommend everyone go watch this and cry with me thanks.
So AGAIN THANK YOU FOR RECOMMENDING THIS FRIENDS and I hope you enjoy the reaction!! Let me know your thoughts in the comments and if you have any cool things to share that you found about the movie!!!
Thank you guys, and enjoy!

This movie was one of my best friends' favorite movies before he tragically passed away at 32. Several friends and myself were planning to go to Japan with him to visit the many real-life places depicted in the movie. Unfortunately, he passed in February while our trip was planned for November. We debated for a long time about whether we should go or just cancel. Then, we made a decision to go, but to make sure that we remembered him as much as possible. My favorite place we visited was Suga Shrine, which is the staircase at the end of the movie where they met. It was bittersweet. Your reaction made me remember how beautiful this movie was and how much I missed him.

“This film just gave you a feeling you can’t even explain.” That is literally the same for so many of us. This film completely change the Paradyne of how people view anime around the world. For all those outside of the fandom of the medium, what it is, what it can achieve. Thank you soo much for this reaction. If you want something away from Makoto Shinkai and something in Studio Ghibli that is both beautiful but will also feel really sad in the end in its own way or break your heart, check out ‘The wind Rises’ and ‘The Tale of the Princess Kaguya’.

I don't know what I'd give, something significant, to be able to forget what Taki learns when he and his work colleagues travel out to find Mitsuha's village, just so I can experience that discovery again. That emotional gutpunch, when they realise about the comet, actually made me gasp out loud and genuinely shook me. What an incredible sensation!

I think I’ve finally figured out what it is about this movie that always leaves me feeling so empty after I watch it; it’s the not knowing. Not US not knowing, but THEM not knowing. Let me explain. Through the entire movie, we watch Taki and Mitsuha as they grow and go through this incredible adventure. We see them switch bodies, and because of the experience of living as the other person, they learn more about them than most people could ever even hope to learn about their significant other. And this leads to them falling in love with each other. Then Taki finds out that Mitsuha is actually dead, and has been for 3 years. But he is so determined to save the one he holds dearest to him that he fights time and fate itself just for the CHANCE to save Mitsuha from Tiamat. He manages to go back to the day of her death and the two finally meet face-to-face for the first time during twilight. Mitsuha is overcome with emotion at finally getting to see and talk to her love, and Taki gives her all that she needs to save herself and the town and chart a new course through time. But they never get the chance to say “I love you” with their voices. They never even get the chance to say goodbye, and they don’t get to spend more time together, as twilight ends and Taki is sent back to his own time, and Mitsuha to hers. Then their memories begin to fade. In order to enter, and in turn exit, the underworld and undo the timeline to save Mitsuha, Taki and Mitsuha needed to sacrifice that which was most precious to them; their memories of each other. But by writing “I love you” on Mitsuha’s hand instead of his actual name, Taki displayed an act of true love, which was protected by the moon god, allowing the pair to retain their feelings of love for the other person even as their memories of the person vanished. They knew they loved someone dearly, and that that person also loved them, but they did not know who it was, what they looked like, or even what their name was anymore. Mitsuha is saved and they both spend the next several years with this constant feeling that they lost something dear to them, and have been searching for that person since. Finally, they are reunited in Tokyo, and their love never faded. No doubt, this is a very happy ending as we get to see Taki and Mitsuha reunite with each other, and they are overjoyed at the fact that they have found their other half, that person they had lost so long ago. The part that absolutely kills me inside is the memories they lost along the way. Mitsuha will never remember what Taki did for her, and likewise, Taki will never remember what he sacrificed in order to save her. The twilight scene is the one that guts me the most. To see the joy and emotion pouring out of Mitsuha when she finally comes face-to-face with Taki for the first time is so beautiful. And especially so given the circumstances surrounding the meeting; they are in a place that is briefly not constrained by time which allows them to meet even though they are separated by 3 years, Tiamat is still looming in the sky above on the brink of splitting, Mitsuha has JUST learned of her death in the comet’s impact, and the opportunities to save the town and herself are slipping away as the seconds pass. And yet, they’re still both just so happy to see each other that none of it matters, if for only a moment. Added on to that is the fact that they’re both so young, barely more than children. And yet they’re love is still so real and genuine. For them to forget all of that is incredibly painful to see as the viewer. But the closure that both we and they get in the final moments of the film is truly spectacular. To see them reunited is a glorious moment in cinema, and even though they will never get their memories of those times back, I truly don’t think they care. Not anymore, now that they have found their other half again. This movie left such an impression on me. There has never been another movie that I can say what I’m about to about this film; I can say, without any exaggeration whatsoever, that Your Name is a perfect movie.

Anime that deal with relationships beyond time and space have this charm to it. You would think it gets confusing and overcomplicated, but the beauty of it is establishing raw emotion and connections that stand the test of time and space. The relife series also deals with similar theme.

Great reaction I loved this movie! I love how much meaning it has, and intertwining metaphysics, visuals and poetry and philosophy into something beautiful. The threads of time, what a great point it made about that and the way it did it. Not sure how to put that into words. It was really like a perfect beautiful poem written by someone with an appreciation for deep thought, visual beauty and again poetic beauty along with some kind of philosophically beautiful angle of perspective, and the ending tied it up in a nice pretty, threaded bow!

It was just such an ammazing time that, after all the good feelings, all the enjoy, friendship and good moments, I returned home, took a shower and, did not know why (and not know for sure even now), but i started to cry so hard and for so long. The only thing I could imagine is that i criyed because it was so good that even hurts. And i think this is my way to describe the feeling you are saying in the video, just "so beautiful than even hurts". It has been a pleasure seeing your video. Good job! My best desires for you in the future. PS: Sorry for my english, I'm spanish so probably have made some mistakes

The mastery of the art shows when the participant cannot help but let feelings run through. The artist does not choose what the observer feels, he simply paints a road that will take every person down their own path. That a simple panoramic scene can cause such a strong reaction just shows the power of art in any form. If I had to put a label on this movie, all I could say to justify my feelings for it is that it is visual poetry, enriched with a compelling story and great sound design. It helps that the character arcs touch some of the deepest philosophical questions we could have, but the seriousness is balanced out with the slightest touch of naughty humour, and a respectful mouthful of rural and city zeitgeist. The movie simply touches all aspects of human emotion, it even glimpses into birth all the way to death and oblivion. And it does not only go through the story but with the visual and sound aspect as well. One of the most important details of the movie is that it does not treat the viewer with condescension. There's no explanations or holding the hand of the viewer. He will have to follow along the movie, pay attention to the details, reach his own conclusions, all while taking in the breathtaking scenery. This heavily contrasts the dull and patronizing method of Hollywood blockbusters. This movie took risks and the payout is exponential. Without a doubt, this is one of the masterpieces of our time

Natalie Gold suggested your reaction site - and I'm quite glad to have visited. First thing I saw was 'Your Name' Reaction - a film I adore. It also gives me a good case of the 'feels'. One of the things I most appreciated with it was the trust the film had in the audience to keep up with the story. Another thing is I like to think is that the quiet hero of the piece is the Kami who is madly pulling strings to protect its people. My suggestion for another fun anime to review would be "Summer Wars" - which also has some great 'feels' in it.

Did you notice they appear in the movie weathering with you? Taki is with his Grandma and Mitsuha is at the store when the boy buys the ring ❤️✨ Watching the movie backwards could've been a little spoiler 😂

I don't know if you will read this... but this movie changed my life. I watched it on your first channel before it was closed, and just rewatched it now. When you were saying "why am I crying?", I completely understood it. I didn't know why until I watched a video on RU-vid by a guy named "KindaNeet" - the title is "Why Anime Makes You Emotional". He talks about a physiological reaction called "frisson", and I am now a firm believer in it. I highly recommend giving it a watch if you still wonder why you can have such deep feelings so quickly into an anime.

This was the second movie that ever made me shed a tear, it was just a fucking great experience, my family often calls me emotionless cause I don’t really tell them much about my feelings. Nice to know that I can still feel Castaway was the first

I didn't even know about this movie, but feel the urge now to buy it and take a look. The animation is usually awe inspiring in any anime. The attention to detail is often stunning and it is quite natural to feel breath-taken by such beauty. I do too. I'm a 51 year old guy and I am very emotional, where my heart on my sleeve you know. Extremely sensitive too, I might say overly sensitive, but that's me. I have never known love, so this may strike a deep chord in me and hit close to home. I too by the way have a passion to look up at the stars and go up there. Often thought about getting a telescope, still could, but no room right now. The stars fascinate me, yes, astronomy-mad really. Great reactions. Love your channel.

This is my favourite movie of all time. Which I was surprised by, I’m more of a hard-action/thriller anime kind of guy. But there’s something about this movie just pulls you in. And don’t get me STARTED on that twilight scene. When he forgets her name, I straight up sobbed.

First time ever watching a reaction to a film I haven't seen. Was wondering if my more emotional reactions to watching VKunia reactions was down to my memories of the film she is watching or her emotional reaction triggering mine. The verdict: It's the tears in the top left hand corner of the screen for sure.

19:14 That feeling you're trying to find a word for might be "mono no aware" (物の哀れ), which has deep roots in Shintoism, Buddhism, and medieval Japanese literature and poetry; the term was popularized by the scholar Motoori Norinaga. It means the "aware" of things, and the word "aware" is difficult to translate; it's like a deep emotional sigh. There's a narrow way and a broad way to define mono no aware; in a narrow sense it has to do with feelings related to impermanence, more broadly it has to do with depth of feeling and sensitivity to the world. If you're searching for a way to describe what you felt, you might enjoy digging into that term and seeing where that exploration leads.
