The people that actually need to hear the message aren't receptive to the normal, polite messaging, let alone the more aggressive, insulting kind. The real issue is that we've let the auto industry influence or outright control our infrastructure and politics to the point that unless you have adequate public transportation (which is rare), you literally can't function without a car. People see it as their inalienable right to own a car and drive it even when they are actively a danger to others just by being on the road. Tech has made things easier with Lyft/Uber etc but people already feel this way about their "right" to drive when sober, so their sense of entitlement only gets stronger and less logical when they poison their livers and brains with alcohol and their inhibitions disappear. People are totally accepting of others ingesting/being addicted to an actively harmful substance to the point that you completely lose control of yourself and your decisions, and then demonize them as soon as they MAKE A STUPID DECISION IN THAT STATE. Even if you don't hurt anyone a DUI is like a scarlet letter, and no attention is paid to the more complicated issues involved and who is actually responsible other than the person who got hammered and then did exactly what everyone does when they get hammered.
I can feel the trauma in this PSA. The fact that he maintains his composure this well, is Miraculous. I can only imagine the things this man has seen due to “poor decision juice”. You’re doing Gods work sir. Thank you. On behalf of your entire community. 🙏❤️❤️🙏
I witnessed a car crash where the driver of one car was thrown from the vehicle. I was shaking as I drove the rest of the way home, could barely sleep, and when I did, I dreamed about it. To think they have to deal with things like that constantly. Bless them
@@xelectrix I have a co-worker who was in a fatal car crash. He was driving a van along a country road in winter, when a speeding drunk driver came round a bend on the opposite side of the road and smashed into his van. He was wearing a seatbelt, but his passenger wasn't, and neither was the drunk guy, so both were ejected from their cars. The drunk guy was killed instantly, but the passenger landed on the corpse of the drunk driver and was fine. It was about 30 years ago and he still shakes when he tells the story.

As an attempting to recover alcoholic, I have to say that "poor decision juice" is the best description of booze that I've ever heard. ETA: I'm five days sober.
When I need to I give my keys to someone. Mandatory walk or Uber. Like, don’t even give yourself the option of driving. Because yes, poor decision juice.

I made that a rule for myself when I was 19 and I've stuck by it. I'm 40 now and I have never gotten behind the wheel after a drop of alcohol has touched my lips. I don't want others to suffer because I don't make good life choices.
Last time I celebrated New Year's, a buddy and I sniped out a transformer at midnight for Y2K shenanigans. I'll never forget how not-smart people really are...
My local wrecker service uses reverse psychology and advertises every new years: “please drink and drive, we need the business!” Pisses people off but it gets them thinking about how grisly it can get.

Planned in advance to spend the night at my friends after the new year party. Got to enjoy drinking as pleased knowing I was responsible ahead of time. Made the experience twice as enjoyable knowing sober me already took care of drunk me.
My problem is drunk me didn't listen to sober me and I drove anyway. Bad decision turned into a good on though because nobody got hurt and the state trooper who arrested me gave me a talk that put my life in perspective. Started a chain of events that turned my life around.
Getting a DUI was the best thing to ever happen to me. I went to support groups that helped me get sober and therapy to help me find more productive ways to deal with my childhood trauma that I was using alcohol to cope with. Years later I'm like a whole new person. I'm glad I didn't hurt anyone with my reckless decision to drive hammered.
First responders should make all safety PSAs. Not only do they develop the best senses of humor, but their recommendations are earnest pleas to not make the most common mistakes they see. First responders do NOT want to see you- they want you to be healthy.
Exactly as I always tell patients we get paid hourly theres no premium per patient so engage those brain cells and Ill get happily paid to sit on our stations coach for 8 hours
As a retired first responder, who retired way earlier than I wanted, I support this message. The reason I retired? I was hit by an impaired driver while at my paid job (I was a vollie), which led to me being a bilateral leg amputee
I've heard many instances of people getting killed because of impared drivers. Also, one time on Highway Thru Hell where a security camera caught an impared driver crashing into his work trailer and house. On an episode of North Woods Law, some of the game wardens were chasing down 2 teenagers drunk on moonshine cherries, then the teens hit an elderly woman's dog, who she then that immediately rushed to the vet. In other words, impared driving not only can harm yourself, but also other people, animals, and objects.
I had to work at 5am on Jan 1 last year. On the way to work I pulled up to a wreck right as a police car was discovering it. There were no signs of movement in the car. Chilling way to start the new year.
Cheers from july 4, I was trying to get a friend home and passed a blazing fire while driving on the highway after narrowly missing several fireworks in CALIFORNIA. Glad that we've got firefighters, pretty sure they're not pleased to have us.

I literally told all of my college kids at work that if they need a DD, to call me!! I won’t judge them, nor will I tattle on them to their parents or our boss lol I just want them to get home safe and if that’s calling me at 3am because they need a ride, then I’m there!!
I've told my friends the same thing. I've gotten more than a few calls through the years; and I haven't lost a friend to DUI yet. good call on your part.
If I had a driver’s license I would do that too, sadly my brain works at a slower pace then the average person making me a hazard on the road so them driving themselves is probably better… but you’re an awesome person for doing that

I said to call me at any point but she ended up staying the night where she was at! I know her mom from my previous job and she also lives around the corner from me so I know she didn’t stay the night to keep me from having to leave the house lol Her family and I are pretty close and her mom was thankful that I was the “on call” DD🤣👌🏽 Her mom also knew about her party plans so it’s not like she was afraid to go home either lol
I told me kids that when they started high school. I said I'd rather be mad as fire at them, than sobbing at the morgue, so PLEASE call me if a ride was needed! I don't know how close they ever came - but I never got called, and they're all in their 30's now, so they SURVIVED!
I'm glad I don't have to work new years eve, I'm a taxi driver. I always keep a first aid gauze+compress and CAT in my job pants along with a 2.5" locking folding knife with belt cutter and glass breaker nub anyway.

The Earth takes 23 hours and 56 minutes to rotate a full 360°, but because it's moving past the Sun it takes a full 24 hours for the Sun to appear in the same place in the sky. So there's one more full Earth rotation per year than there are days in a year. It's difficult to explain without a diagram to be honest.

I graduated high school 5 years ago come June, Christmas of 2022 at around 9 @ night one of my former classmates lost control of his vehicle and slid into a tree, pronounced dead at the scene. He was only 21 years old. It was never disclosed if he was intoxicated but he was driving home from a big party-

Remember folks, if you go out drinking, you can pick your car up the next day once the hangover subsides, you DONT need to bring it home with you that night.

This is why I always have the new years party at mine. I don't mind the clean up, I can stay level headed on the sauce, I live centrally to everyone and NO ONE DRIVES DRUNK FROM MINE!
I have this dog. THAT LOVE THE FIRE TRUCK. He get all happy. He and I sleep throught through the New Years. In Seattle one year, there was all these kids starting fires , in different locations in Seattle. That was a night of Howling , barking and headaches.
To be even more pedantic, it's actually 367 rotations during a leap year. As the Earth rotates on its axis prograde, it has to complete one extra revolution per year relative to the number of days.
Even a $50 Taxi or Uber is cheaper than losing your license, job or freedom. Hell if you don't even have that at the end of the night sleep in your car...what are the cops gonna do, MAKE you drive home drunk? Just pack a blanket in the boot (trunk US) like my mate always did (tho the fact that that was her usual was a bit of a worry at the time, but better that than drive!).

yeah they are hard to come by and unfortunately we lose tons of them every year due to drunk drivers, im talking about the innocent sober people minding their own and along comes a liquored up smooth brain moron and takes that good life away then they walk away with their own pathetic life, its so unfair.
