And getting an ACTUAL independent verification judgement procedure would also push monitor manufacturers to provide the specs their monitors could achieve in day-day usage, straight out-of-the-box, rather than controlled tests from a lab with biased graphs and perfectly controlled climate.... speaking of climate, I'd love to see some form of "non-room temperature" testing data by independent sources too so one might maybe find a suitable display for their "room temp" that 30-35 degrees CELSIUS on a "normal" summer day [or to show wether one should mount some active cooling solution to the back to keep it relatively operational at "given specs"]

I actually don't like that my monitor can't use VRR BELOW 60 Hz... That's a questionable minimum range, since my GPU usually goes down to 40 FPS or so with heavily demanding games, while it does exceed 144 with less demanding titles.
@JessicaFEREM
@JessicaFEREM 2 года назад
VRR should allow you to have zeroHz imo if you're parked on the desktop there's no reason for the display to update. also it should allow for 24FPS video playback since that's the movie standard.

perhaps below 60fps the monitor doesn't need vrr at that refresh rate because starts duplicating frames at 120hz(?) if you go at 40fps the monitor refreshes at 80hz internally? im guessing so don't @ me, im not sure but seems logical to me

Nothing in between The smallest non-phone 4K OLED you can get is 48" For some people that may be acceptable, but that is literally the size of my entire desk. Where is my second monitor supposed to go? Edit: There is one notable exception, and that's a $4000 OLED Monitor from Dell that has a 60Hz refresh rate and *immediately* went out of production after production started Edit2: Forgot about laptops. Yes, you can also get 13"-14" laptops with a 4K OLED. Nothing with twice the size, tho.

@@insu_na I think there are also 17 inch laptops with 4k oled. However, Alex has said he finds quite a few laptop oled screens to appear rather "dirty" when displaying the same colour throughout a significant portion of the screen.

@@Beerus26 Why would anyone want a VA panel? Do VA panels have 0.1-0.2ms pixel response times? No? Are they actually more in the 10-30ms range? I hate display manufacturers who claim 240hz or 360hz and then have pixel response times that are slower than 60hz... great, the smeary mess updates very fast.

Still waiting for a 32" 4k oled with freesync, HDR 500 or better, 120+ refersh rate (would prefer 165 or better but lets be reasonable), and for less then $500. I don't mind spending more, but I plan to get 3 so rather not go too high on price.

Mostly a plexhead, I think maybe I let TV marketing & specs influence a decision to jump from 1080 monitor right to 4K too early, without ever looking at or understanding the 1440 market much less this great new variable-sync standardization.

Ouch. Those specs will arrive in the next 24 months on QD-OLED for sure, and better actually, but not for $500, more like 1200 to 2000 dollars. 500 bucks will not happen before we get better tech like the QNED nanorods, at affordable price too, so 10 years or so. If it happens at all

Biggest issue still remains people trying to drive high resolution and high refresh rate monitors using hardware that is not actually up to the task they are asking it to do then expecting a magic bullet software adjustment that fixes their hardware deficiencies.
