Just keep in mind, that in that Virtual Camera obs plugin page, it says in bold red DO NOT USE HORIZONTAL FLIP. I only mention this because you mentioned using horizontal flip in this very video, even though you really should not do that.
The background isn't the disorganized couch with stuff all over it anymore. Looking like a real media/console channel now, not that it wasn't to begin with. Thanks again.
No support for G7, well that's me bummed. Luckily I got 3 capture cards I could use (1 being the 1 reviews, another being the newer version of the 1 you reviewed and mentioned, I still need to review them both thinking about it) so doesn't matter to much to me. Great video as always
You don't even need an external microphone. You can connect the headphone output of the camera to the microphone-input of your computer with a cable with 2 male mini stereo connectors. Set the microphone output volume between 10 and 12, and that's it. I left the microphone setting of the camera on auto. Don't forget to turn on the microphone return setting on your PC (so you can hear what the microphone is picking up in your headphone)
Panasonic's official method is basically like doing the old Canon EOS utility workaround? Kind of a let down tbh but its something. Hopefully they polish it up and streamline it a bit.
@EposVox this would be great if OBS was able to capture the video feed, not the screen overlay area.. If you have lumix tether on a second screen, as bigger resolution as possible, so that obs would get the higher resolution, your main screen ingame fps and stutters are permanent.. This is why it would be awesome to be able to minimise tether screen... note: I also had the stuttery video like you did but i just changed the cable and usb port on my motherboard and now its gone ( I cant tell which one fixed it)
Update: They just added a Mac version yesterday. Still kind of meh and much better to use an HDMI capture card, but hey it's an option and better than nothing. It makes me wonder if camera manufacturers will add in true webcam features in future cameras because of what has happened in the world or if it's just not a priority at all. What extra hardware and costs would it potentially add to a camera to make it technically possible?
I keep wondering this same thing. It seems like Sigma is the only one who is taking this seriously, with UVC being a standard spec in the fp since launch
I have a Lumix GX850 is there a way i can use it as webcam?.... i got that cheap HDMI Video Capture... but seems like the HDMI Connection is only for Play Mode... am i doing something wrong???? Thanks in advance for help tips.
Glad I watched your video on the 20.00 capture card and ordered one, its way better than that software, but at least with the software you can get something working. Thanks for the heads up on the Capture Card!!
Eposvox,I have a question I wish to be answered. Why don't you use Camcorder's for live streaming, and instead only focus.on DSLR setups? They have more benefits for live productions, sooo... Why don't you use them?
Hey - QUESTION PLEASS - i’m using a Lumix G7 with HDHI capture card. I set up everything right but when i hit record the camera goes black and display “Video Now Recording” how can i fix that please?
nice thing but if you have money for a 1000-3000$ camera then 200$ is pretty much nothing for a decent capture card^^ maybe it will be good in the future if they keep the software updated and will improve it
Thanks, I just ordered the anonymous capture card. OBS doesn't give me the live view window to choose from, just the little control panel window. And the Virtual Camera add-on opens up with a garbled interface...cropped elements that are indecipherable. May be a bug with it interacting with Win 10's scaling settings for my 4K laptop display. Sorta *not* in my case. Thanks for the most detailed configuration description I've found.
I have a G7 and wanted to upgrade during black Friday this year.... Can you please help me make a choice and provide an affiliate link please? I want to buy another Panasonic since i dont want to buy new lenses... can you please recommend lol thanks, I've been watching and learning for years.
Interesting, I tried it out a few days ago with my G9 and didn't experience the frame rate issues you have. I did, however, have quite a significant latency...
This might be a long shot. The frame rate looks like the same as what i see on my end. However while my gh5 is streaming, if i change the camera mode a few times then back to creative video, the issue disappears. I am going to assume its a bug as i don't see the issue in the official Panasonic video tutorial either. Do note i am using a thunderbolt 3 port and not a usb 3.0 / 3.1. Not sure if that makes a difference.
personally i would maximize the panasonic app on the screen as OBS is recording the screen. suppose you resize the pannasonica app in windows to 1x1 pixel, then OBS cannot make it FullHD! point of attention in your review!
@@EposVox ah okay. thanks for the clarification. still a bit confused, but got a Camlink 4K for my G7 and Blackmagic Intensity 4K to save me the hassle. Great guide though if you're just on the lookout but there are other options out there
Is there any duration limitation? Hello. I tried to stream with my Nikon D5600. Unfortunately, after 30 minutes the liveview auto shutdown making it unusable on OBS via HDMI link. The Nikon Webcam software provide such poor quality so it's useless. I want to buy the Lumix G9, but it has 30 min video recording limit. Will I have the same issue? Does it auto-shutdown? Or I'll be able to use the G9 for livestreaming to OBS via HDMI/Tether without auto shutdown? Or should I go to GH5? thanks guys

man this is so limited. I'm on a mac with a gh4 LOL. I've had better luck with my older af100 through HDMI capture card but it ridiculous crushes the black.
The part that i really dont get it is why they released the "Lumix Webcam Software" and theb this one, instead of improving the other one...... compatibility is also different, might be that? i just dont get it, btw both are beta, amazing
