This is the email that I received:
Hi bharat
I have seen a lot of your videos in youtube channels and I love them. I am currently working in TCS in India. I have 8years of work experience and I am currently preparing for masters in Germany in Computer science. But my parents at this time are unconvinced with my decision to go Germany. They think I will go away and will never come back. My father is retired and they think they will become alone. So they want me to get married this year and settle here in India. I too feel guilty that am I becoming selfish and thinking only about myself and my career. I am not happy working in TCS and I always wanted to do masters. So now I don't know if I am doing right and I also don't want to hurt them or leave them alone as they are or they will get old as time passes.
Can you give me any advice?

Most of the Indians faced this. To the guy who wrote the email to bharath: Please do not feel that you are selfish. It's completely about the mentality most of the Indians have. Just fly... to achieve your dream. There will be a day that your parents will proud of you. I can tell this with my full voice, as I made that decision years ago being as an Indian unmarried woman by then.. and now I am still living happily with no regrets.

This is even worse for Indian women. Agar ladki bahar padhne chali gayi toh shaadi kab karegi. Dahej kaise denge. Over qualified hui toh shaadi kaun karega.I dont understand why is marriage such a big deal in this country. Live and let live. People should get married only when they feel like it not because they are running out of age.

Really hate the dark side of indian culture. Also here in this video, the parents are being selfish. I have the same situation at home...My parents don't want me to go abroad....They feel insecure that their son will go away and will not take care of them. They are educated but very traditional. Their mentality is I should stay with them, make their life happy during their old age, in short be their servant or bonded labour. That's why when I asked my father to let me go abroad, he took away all my money and forced me into an arrange marriage. This is my story. Now my life just revolves around them. Please donot stop bonding betwween parents and son by spreading the word of independence! The parents of of our generation still depend emotionally atleast on their child though not financially atleast! The topics you mentioned about career plans ,you will definitely get this in India too!May be the independence of living holds good for our next generation as we would have seen the consequences alredy and know how to handle whereas parents of our generation cannot or find it difficult to stay alone as they r emotionally dependent on sons and daughters !

I don't know why students wants to pursue higher studies in abroad? They live and brought up in this soil but wants to work in abroad ,this is not fair..we should not forget our country...f they have skills they get jobs easily.. parents or kids needs to understand those countries are behind our work and brilliant workers only to progress n develop their country... remember their first priority will always for their citizens... we never know when they will throw from their company.. and the one who is working there will always be in fear n feel insecure.. it's a fact.. one should not go behind the money.. there we may get luxuries/comforts but not the bonding relationship which is really precious.. first we need to serve our nation and not their's.

Not with the part-time job. You earn anywhere from 10 to 15 Euros an hour.

No. Because you'd never have excess money. The reason is you would have money sufficient only for 1 year in your blocked account. For the next year, you would have to make savings from the part time job. If you send that money home, you would have to again ask for money for the second year from your parents. Also, it won't be possible for you to do the part time job all the permitted time (e.g. during exam months) as that would reflect badly on your studies, which is the reason why you're there, not for the part-time job. Now, if you continue to do the part-time job in the second year of your studies as well, you can save a certain surplus (not your whole earnings) and send them home once in a while, as by then you'd already have savings from your first year. Hope this answers your question fully.

After 8 years of experience you would probably be touching 30. And after your masters you would be 32+, and If you see the stats of Indian students many are depressed/sad when they don't find the right partner at a later age. So your parents are not completely wrong. Independence and all is important but you know what there is no replacement for parents in this world. Maybe I am wrong but this is Indian culture where parents and kids are not separated as soon as they become 18. It's not that kids don't grow up or can't make decisions. It's the love and respect that make us asking for advice from parents lifelong, even when it's actually not required
