Has it ever occurred to you that the source of our unhappiness is simply our desires? That if we desire incorrectly, this brings us unnecessary and avoidable disturbances and suffering? Not all desires are natural, and in this video we will show that if we learn to deal correctly with our desires we can avoid various types of suffering.

The topic of desire is very vast and has already been dealt with by countless philosophers and thinkers. Even if we wrote a thousand-page book on the subject, there would still be a lot to cover. In this video, we therefore intend to present reflections on desire from only two perspectives: Buddhist and Epicurean. We take Buddhism here from a rational, philosophical perspective, as a diagnosis of the human situation, as a rational analysis of our condition. As for Epicureanism, this was a philosophical school from ancient Greece that emerged after the death of Socrates, in the Hellenistic period, which has similarities with Stoicism. We will see how these traditions can help us live better by controlling our desires.
