Nathan Barnatt, This video was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. I cried from laughter. I'm sorry that so many people are criticizing it. I'm sure you worked very hard on this project and were disappointed to see that it wasn't picked up by AS. This was weird, over the top, absurd and bits were overacted - and that's why it's so incredible. It's unapologetic, pure, concentrated lunacy and an excellent parody of social stereotypes. I guess that's a bit hard for some people to appreciate. I'd just like to say thank you for giving me this beautiful piece of comedy that not only made me laugh uncontrollably, but really brightened my day. Thanks, Chris

This has a lot of potential. No pilot episode is flawless but this was a really good start! Adult Swim is stupid for passing on it in my opinion. Better than half the shitty cartoons they air now.

Awesome Pilot guys, we've watched it 3 times! We'd love to see an actual series come of this. If it ends up on television, will there be a way to access it like on Netflix or some other platform? We'd love to watch and support you guys, but we don't have cable. Best of luck guys!! :)

I just gave this a watch after a year. I've got to say it's still a shock to me that this didn't get picked up. I've seen so many bad pilots that get signed and this one was actually good. It had room for improvements in certain areas. It's only my opinion so I won't elaborate, but the only flaws I seen were things that could've easily been fixed in time (a couple of episodes tops). I really do hope you get another chance for your ideas Nathan. You're a great writer and actor and it's easy to tell that one day you'll have a show that we'll all watch and enjoy weekly. Watching this now makes me sad. Things seemed so much better almost 10 years ago. I remember feeling unstoppable and the world was at my fingertips. It's nice seein a few of these people together in their younger years trying to make something amazing. This just reminds me of better times...

I was about to stop it at about the 8 minute mark, but I kept watching. It got better, I thought the ending part was a lot better than most of it. Not sure why I didn't absolutely love it like everything else Nathan does, but it was pretty hard to watch at times.

Walcom I personally loved this pilot, very sad to not see it get made into a series. However, Nathan has other projects He makes that I enjoy so it doesn’t bother me that much. I think Nathan himself isn’t most people’s cup of tea otherwise he would have millions of subscribers, if talent was the deciding factor, Nathan would be far more famous than he already is.

I can see why it didn't go past the pilot. Although the episode does have excelent camera work and scenario, the script was the problem. Grouping Keith with the other guys was a good idea in my opinion, because it gives the show that little touch of relationships between people everyone likes to see, like, for example, in Ed, Edd & Eddy. But that's a cartoon, and that's the problem with the script. It's *too* unrealistic, too cartoon-ish. And at some points, I thought there was no script at all for a scene. Another problem is that sometimes situations are... Forced. Unnatural. Like the first scene where they all introduce themselves. There's a lot of fun moments, I give you that, like for example the last scene where Sheffard (if I heard his name right) eats from a dog bowl. Or when they start throwing stinky bombs at Tony. But that's it, a few fun skits that will not save an entire episode. I suggest you double check your scripts, because if the show was better written, it would have took off *instantly*. No offense, but you kinda looked like a wannabe Seth MacFarlane with this one.

That opening scene was painfully unfunny... there is a way to do self-aware comedy, but that definitely was not it. Generally felt really stale, like something that would have been produced 10 years ago, immediately riding the wake of Napoleon Dynamite... seemed like, at any moment, any of the characters could have busted out with a "Gosh!" or "Dang!" without a hint of irony. And the less said about the sub-sitcom-with-laugh-track jokes ("We gotta go call Keith's family!" "You are my family!") the better... Probably should have gone with 22 minutes of dancing around LA... would have had a much better chance of being picked up.

One of the characters is Keith's brother. That's why he says you are my family. That's not meant to be a sitcom moment. Let's go call Keith's family is a lame excuse to leave because his literal amily is right there. Holy shit I had no idea that all of Nathan's fans were TV executives!

zenintrude Ebert did actually write a movie at least. But my larger point is that people are commenting on specific REASONS why the show was passed on (it's too cartoony, for instance), when in actuality Adult Swim asked for a live action cartoon. So my implication is that everyone seems to have the answers here, yet no idea how TV development actually works. It's a lot more complicated than saying "if so and so was a different character, maybe it would have gone through"

FriendsInFaux What Adult Swim/Cartoon Network/Turner/Time Warner asked for is not the point here, and is certainly not what people are critiquing... or at least is not what I'm interested in discussing (I don't have the time nor the inclination to read though the whole of this video's comments). The problems I had with this pilot are not with whether or not it was meant to be a cartoon, a multi-cam studio sitcom, a one camera mockumentary, or anything in between; my problems are that the script is not funny, the attempts at comedy are stale, the acting is not good, and the production feels pretty cheap (which probably could not have been helped, so don't take that as an insult!) As I said in my first post, the "We gotta go call Keith's family!" joke feels like something that should have a laugh track after it because it's fucking not funny... watching this show was like watching edits of Big Bang Theory with the laugh track removed to show just how brutally unfunny, obvious, and stale the show is. It has nothing to do with understanding whether or not the characters are related, it's trite and simply not funny either way. You need to understand that people on here are not attacking you, Nathan, or anyone else involved in the pilot... they're simply voicing their opinions on the product. Clearly the executives had issues as well or we'd have seen 12 more of these ordered for the fall.

zenintrude you're way off on the production. It was highly produced and looks like a freaking ep of Breaking Bad. Guess you didn't hear any of Keith's dialogue cause it's almost straight from Talking Classics. And the opening scene was actually making fun of Big Bang Theory a show that I thoroughly hate. I'm really divided on this one, because this is a little all over the place. If this were put on TV, it would take a nose dive pretty quickly, but that's not to say it's crap. It's just that the pacing is really rapid, the dialogue isn't great, but that's not the worst though - the worst is that every actor seems like they are trying to play the same character. There's little to no contrast. Keith Apicary is so great because he sticks out like a sore thumb, but now you have like 3 other characters behaving just as oddly. It just doesn't feel right. That being said, Keith is amazing as always. I could watch him all day, but I think he works best when he's surrounded by normal people rather than other idiots.

I know because I actually work AS in ATL, and this type of content, (while a little funny) its simply not funny enough for anything main stream. I could go into detail, but what's the point? So, it's a show about a bunch of jerks who steal from and take advantage of a friend who finally feels like he needs to get away from them. So, they follow and torment him because in their self-centered worlds he has no choice but to be their friends. This show was underdeveloped, the plot was garbage and it really wasn't funny. I love your other stuff Nathan, but this wasn't good.

Is the audience suppose to believe that a bright, intelligent woman would not only put up with continual idiotic sexual harassment, but actually marry and hang out with them? You guys should really consider normalizing your character base up to 'Workaholics' level, wherein characters are outlandish enough to find themselves in ridiculous situations, but not so much that the audience just can't relate to them. Lose the exposition intro and you might just have me.

Great! Really enjoyed it, would love to see this getting more developed into a series. It's a bit hard to really dig out the characters and understand them in a short 20 mins but it's awesome to see Nathan's work getting on a better production like this!
