I think we have the same one. I hardly even see the ads because my computer is so slow that the 1 second ad plays without actually loading, but sometimes I do see it for a split second. Sadly it's only available for Chromium browsers, so it doesn't work on Firefox or mobile.
What's funny is that the detection system fumbles almost 80% of the time, and ads are just black loading screens. Sometimes it doesn't even work, if only they never messed with this shit. Everyone with ad blockers should be left alone, if the people who own that ridiculous amount of money want to pay for premium, let them.
There's an extension called 'privacy badger' that you can download for your browser, and which you can set to block the trackers RU-vid uses to detect adblockers. Adblock works normally after that. For anyone curious: 1. Download and install the 'privacy badger' extension 2. Go to general settings and turn on everything in the 'advanced' section 3. Go to tracking domains and search for 'youtube' 4. Set all sliders for youtube domains to the far left, blocking all trackers 5. Enjoy
"Our bottom line is upset that you don't want our loud, spam/malware promoting ads playing before videos that you're trying to watch and wasting your already limited time to relax and not slave away to billionaire oligarchs, so we've made this website even more unusable than it was before to punish you for wanting to relax in your 15 min lunch break"
we as a generation: the millennials and zoomers have absolutely fucked up by letting RU-vid be the one big place to upload content. Of course hindsight is 20/20 but Jesus Christ, this is stupidly amazing how they have the monopoly and BALLS to pull moves like this. every update RU-vid has made in, id say, the last 6-8 years has been absolutely not for the people but just for the ads and for themselves. they have TAKEN more creativity and individualism away from the consumer then added lol.
Nigga what? Of course they are trying to do something against ad blockers. You think they want their income to just go down the shitter? I got this pop up, turned my AB of for a day and then turned it on again. That's it. And we can whine all day about how YT sucks or we just start uploading on alternatives like Odysee.
'Ad blockers violate RU-vid's Terms of Service' Considering the browser isn't part of RU-vid and I can install whatever the hell I like on it... tough luck Google?
I already forgot what advertising is because in my country RU-vid has already turned off advertising and monetization from this to content creators in my country for a year now lol.
I'm 30. I grew up with ads on the TV. I've never been annoyed enough about about RU-vid ads to go thru the effort of setting up adblockers. In fact I prefer ads to cover the cost of operation, than to pay a subscription for it. That said, I can't help but feel that the amount of people who use adblockers is so minute, to be irrelevant and therefore render this a time wasting move on RU-vid's own part, done to satisfy internal politics.
My blocker still works without any issue whatsoever. What i take from this is that they didn't even put in enough effort, so that a freely available ad blocker wouldn't be able to be you know: BLOCKED. I am sitting and laughing, day after day, on which i can simply watch youtube videos and not get ads
all I have to do is just refresh the page whenever I click on a video now and it works perfectly fine, like hell I'm just using normal AdBlock how is it this bad
Isn't RU-vid a massive money sink? I can understand them wanting to display ads as much as I don't like them. (Unless there's something I don't get here)
It wouldn't exist if it was a massive money sink, when you know they're taking most of the ad revenue and that some youtubers are making millions of dollars threw ad revenue I think it's safe to belive they'd be more then fine without blocking ad blockers
I don't really care about the Ad Blocker, I am okay with the ads and I support them as sometimes, something cool can show up like a song or other person video that makes good content. Good thing YT banned Ad blocker
Good thing that the system that detects ad blockers tends to fail most of the time. I usually get a black loading screen on some videos but that's easily circumvented by refreshing the page.
