It's probably the fact that he has a proper steady girlfriend, who is older than him and a good influence. Caspar and Joe are irresponsibly single still (nothing wrong with that though). Also, I'm sure having a pet means they have think about what time to come home etc, it's seems like they almost have a small child in Nala.
