This is the same kind of thing people said about cell phones or TV when they first came out and it will not age well. People’s bias against the unknown blinds them to the inevitable evolution and adoption of technology as that unknown becomes known.

@@LionElAton look, im no prude when it comes to tech, but in this case it's different. TV and Cell phones don't directly access your brain, despite how much it feels like it sometimes. Im not like my parents and grandma who say everything was better without this stuff. But, we've had a ton of warnings about this kind of tech through fiction. Whether it be VR, AI, or neural chips. I mean, if you've ever watched Doctor Who, remember the cybermen? The entire episode that delves into their creation? Despite what I'd like to believe, people would use this technology for darker purposes than just a more convenient way of using the internet. Like I said, I can see the use of them for amputees, but if used by common people? Big no from me.

People said they didn’t want smartphones because it would track their location at all times, and now look, I’m sure you’re typing these comments on a smartphone. People said they didn’t want cars because they felt like they were too dangerous when they first came out. And I’m sure you have driven in cars countless times now. People said that no one would want to fly in an airplane because airplanes could crash. I’m guessing you’ve flown in a plane. People are incredibly bad at predicting what technology they won’t use. They’re always, always wrong, and dystopianism bias is usually the easiest bias to spot.

@@LionElAton but they were kind of right? I mean, we live in a society that has the highest rate of suicide and mental illness, largely tied to technology usage. Imagine plucking a chimp out of the trees and plopping it in front of a screen all day. That’s not going to be a healthy chimp. That’s essentially what we’ve done to ourselves; we’re just so saturated, we don’t even realize or question it, until recently as we’re seeing the real negative consequences ol’ gramps warmed us about.
