I'm on the overweight, Deconditioned program. Cycle ONE, DAY 2. Thank you for understanding what we are going through! I'm REALLY fascinated with clubs and bells!

I agree…I’m starting Cycle 2 tomorrow. Baby steps so we get stronger, feel better, & have an improved life. Keep up the good work!

Glad to hear about the overuse, incorrect use and programming, and injury topic. I have found that KB’s and clubs are a lot of hand work/ hand exercise. My training mantra for all of this stuff is moderation.

Ah, handstands and walking on your hands. Love it. My dad wouldn’t let me lift in high school, so I taught myself how to do handstands, handstand pushups, and to walk on my hands. Good upper body work.

I love Clubbells (aka Clubs) but I find so many of the gyms just can’t accommodate this kind of training - the gym personnel just don’t get it and have blinkered themselves into training conventions - and other gym goers/members just don’t get it and believe it’s dangerous - that I’m a danger… I’ve encountered too many hostilities … only once I had a PT of Iranian heritage come running up to me so excited to see me doing clubs and sharing it’s Persian origins - but then quickly warning me that this kind of training isn’t embraced at that gym … unfortunately for me gyms have the high ceilings and some semblance of a functional training space to execute swinging and rotational exercises - but they don’t like this functional rotational training style … I can only “get away with it” as long as those gym patrons who think functional training is “stretching” and “yoga” are out of the space … and so they can’t witness what I’m doing as a crazy form of ballet with kettlebells and clubbells … ggggggrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhh! The future horror scenario is when the masses catchup and we are all bludgeoning one another into bloody pulps! 😂 Do we really want everyone doing this in a confined space all at the same time? Imagine! If only I had an empty warehouse … 😅

For the question about horizontal push and horizontal pull, I recommend pushups and inverted rows in addition to the suggestions Mark gave, especially with a set of $30 gym rings you can find at Academy. I commonly take my rings to the park for the pullup bars, but I've seen people use outdoor flights of stairs, basketball courts, or sturdy tree branches to set up their rings. In my personal experience, rings are superior for chest and back development compared to barbells and dumbbells, even if you were given all these tools for free and cost was not a consideration. Plus, I like rings for mobility and core work. And if you happen to be one of the people I've noticed recently looking for an opinion on ab wheels, you can totally use rings like an ab wheel, which I think is a much more superior tool for that movement too since it scales better depending on how low you set your rings LOL

I appreciate you consistently say this is all going to be a 5-10-15 year progression - it’s not a “you too in six weeks will be buff and beach body ready” snake oil BS!

You mentioned Montana as a potential seminar location, but how about Wyoming? I think you know a guy who knows a guy with a martial arts gym in Casper that’s no stranger to hitting people with sticks.

The handstand jokes reminded me of that old movie Major Payne when he was relaying the story of his buddy who lost his legs in his version of "The Little Engine that Could" LOL
