900 videos and almost 5 years for 100k, 500 videos and 3 years for 50k, and i uploaded daily for 3 months straight (which got me my most popular video) , while working a fulltime overnight job, it was such a crap time now after all the suffering and grinding, i can space out my videos a bit and upload but it still doesn't change that 99% of channels need to upload 3 times a week just to stay relevant to their audience

Music production as well. I gained a whole new appreciation for different music genres once I had to write, record, mix my own music and realised that each of those steps is a proper discipline in and of itself.

Another tip: don't wait for a opportunity/miracle. The grind/hard work doesn't come to you. You rly have to start and just keep going I think. I used to be someone who was like "yeah, everything will be fine eventually", but i started realizing that this kind of mindset won't get you far in life(tho for some lucky people it does i guessxD).

Lol I like the "disgustang." It's a nice touch. But real talk, if you're an early subscriber, sometimes you don't notice just how the content improves over time without looking back on it because you're just growing with them, it takes a while to hit. There becomes a time where it transitions from just a hobby to a full on vocation. Like some creators will go through like 3 different channels and multiple different concepts and styles before they find the one thing that works. I think what's most effective is that, you wanna be doing something that kinda motivates you, something you like, it's much easier to stick with that way, idk. That's just my take.

Loved this topic! As a creator still in the pre-success phase lol (but I definitely do feel successful in the sense that I'm proud of my hard work, it's not all about numbers and money) it's definitely hard feeling like a lot of the people at the top had channels that just blew up immediately or after a few posts. Those channels definitely exist and are some of the biggest channels on the platform BUT there are SO MANY creators that were at the grind for a long time before they got to where they are today and I'd love if more RU-vidrs talked about it because it can be really really encouraging to those who are working hard on their channels. I've seen so many smaller creators get discouraged because of this, so just want any of you to remember if you're working on that RU-vid grind that it takes time and your hard work will always pay off, whether it's a large channel, making friends, or just being proud of what you've accomplished, your hard work will never be for nothing

I can relate to this, Ive been making animations on RU-vid for around 2 years, heck Ive been making animated content for 3 years if I count my instagram days. I only have 49 subs which means its hard for me to get a huge audience in the first place, but even though I see channels who reach a hundreds subs within days which can make me self conscious, I just keep trying and hoping that I get there, because even though I know very well that I can never make it as a content creator I do it anyways simply because I love making videos just because of pure passion and love.

Making videos is a great hobby that I didn't know I'd love. Since I started a few months ago, I've seen (small) growth in my channel that I didn't think I'd see. That's all I need to make this worth it. I think that grind needs to be fueled by passion, less so by desire. That's where I think people would be more prone to failure.

If you don't like making videos then youtube won't even be the kind of job where you love what you do. If all you want is money just get a normal job, there are a lot of them that will make you A LOT more money than youtube ever would unless you have millions of subs, high view counts and good sponsors and even then keep in mind that even pewdiepie doesn't even begin to compare to the richest people out there.
