I am a "Quality over Quantity" creator with 100k subs, and uploads about two videos per year. Your video came in my feed, and I found it to be a great advice, hence commenting. The biggest issue of making a masterpiece is the time-commitment it requires. My videos take months to make. But, now you have just one chance of it working or failing. And, now your bar of success is no longer 10k-20k views. Instead you would need 1 million views+ for it to make it worth the time. Getting that consistently as a new creator is going to be hard. In my case, all my videos have excellent metrics, yet three videos failed to grow due to algorithm. First one, I posted during covid, about covid, and youtube had some hidden filter to not spread covid related videos. Second video was about 2020-disasters. RU-vid 18+ed my video when it was going viral and demonetized it. I had to reupload it 3 times with censoring for it to work, even though there was no footage that was 18+ in that video. Third one was about Ukraine war. It still has the highest performance metrics of any video in my channel. But, youtube algorithm has secret keywords they ban at certain times, and this video was hit due to that. RU-vid provided near zero views to that video. All views I got was from people coming to channel and clicking it, or from my own promotion. For new creators who has no idea how to create good content, I would suggest to be consistent first. You will learn how to make good videos only after making 10-20 videos and learning from the mistakes of each one. Then, after that start trying to make one masterpiece every few months. Every creator learned it this way, even if when you look at their channel you only see masterpieces, you are not seeing all the other work they have done in the past. You are not seeing all the abandoned projects. Like, it would take 10x more time to just decide what topic to make your masterpiece on. It will take few false starts and abandoning projects because it is not viable. I have 5-6 videos I have made 90% the way, and then abandoned it. RU-vid is now highly saturated, there are 4 billlion videos here, but if you try to make masterpiece from the first video itself, you are probably not going to last long, because your first video is unlikely to be a masterpiece even if you put months of effort. The most optimal way done by almost all youtubers is to have dozens of normal videos and one masterpiece every now and then. I personally am not able to do that since I am kindof a perfectionist, and when I start a project I think it will only take couple of weeks, but ends up taking significantly more time than expected. And it has been difficult to be consistent. A tip I have is that if you are starting out, focus on just two things. Script and Audio. The script should be well written, and information density should be high. Secondly, Audio should be well done. If you are unable to narrate yourself, hire someone. But audio is critically important. Add some music or sound effects to make the audio even better. Visuals doesnt matter much, so don't focus on it. Sticking to one topic and be the king of that topic is also an awesome strategy, but I have not been able to do that at all. The thing is, I am interested in a lot of fields, and when you feel that urge to create, in my case, it is often in differing fields. So, when you are making to satisfy your own urges rather than making for someone else, you end up doing things that are not the optimal correct path. In my opinion, create for yourself first, and that is often the only way to create masterpieces because you will otherwise get bored after few weeks of hardworrk if you are creating something in a boring topic for someone else.

Hello. Thank you for your valuable comment and for the advice. Wow, you suffered a lot because of the algorithm. I think is very hard to see your work being not promoted because of the algorithm. I experienced a lot, and yes, I agree with you, script and audio are the most important. This a lesson that every creator should hear from the behind. Your experience is helping us a lot and your real story is incredibly valuable for new creators. Thank you so much for spending time to share this with us 🤗

The problem is in RU-vid's algorithms. It does not value quality. It values quantity and uniformity.

As time has went on I think it is the best combination of the 2, get as much quality in a video as you can in the time frame that suits you. I have always tried to do 1 a week (have had gaps and time off) and I believe doing at least 1 a week has allowed me to grow and get much better at it, as well as find out what sticks and what doesn't. At first It would take me 2 days to record a video, till I got more comfortable, editing though is about the same amount of time when I started to now, though now I can definitely edit better. If I hadn't went for 1 video a week I think this would of taking me longer to learn, and I do not think I would be seeing the current success I am getting from videos that are sticking with my audience. I still try other videos here and there to try and see if I can get multiple types to work with my audience, so that is still a learning curve, but it is all in the fun of it as well. Another awesome insightful video, thank you :)

Thank you for your advice :) Definitely to try to do your best in a specific time frame is a winning choice for sure. And yes, by practicing you will become better at all aspects of a video. Editing speed, recording speed, structure, packaging, everything. Thank you for your comment :)

@@GabrielVIP thank you so much for your reply ☺️ I have another channel where I spent a month or more to produce the best video I could and it didn’t pickup. I am now more focusing on this channel: on the first video I spent a lot of time, but as I got better and better video after video, I was able to put the last video all together in a day or two. What takes my time is my full time job, but also finding the ideas, the hook. I do not have lights yet (thus not recorded any talking head materials yet) so I have been filming outdoors. But I will be soon buying those same lights (and the same setup) as you use. I have experience in editing and I am doing it more and more efficiently and faster and faster. But it is the “what” how it is delivered that takes me time to decide. I also always ensured that the audio (my voice over) is of good quality (no or nearly no mouth clicks or unclear words). Again, I am getting better and better at voice recordings :) I have around 20 subscribers and I know that they (some are colleagues) are always waiting for the next video to come out but I also need to put out something qualitative, it needs to add value, bring something to the audience while also being funny :) Up to now, I had the wishful goal of trying to publish one per week, worst case two weeks or three weeks. But I was sure that I could never achieve it in one week. I’m not sure if I need to lower my standards or try to come up with the ideas faster 😁 I am using VidIQ and AI but I am still looking for a good hook haha.

You take care of a lot of important aspects and I think this is perfect. The full time job is always a pain for creators but if you optimize the creation process you can achieve the target of 1 video per week. Lowering the standards may not be always a bad idea. Most of the time what we consider high standards is not important for the audience. Creating more can be a better choice for the moment. The best thing to do is to try and see how it works. Thank you for your detailed answer. I know that you will find the best option for you :)

Now you need to teach us how to get more hours out of the day to actually MAKE videos! Those of us that have to work full time to support buying gear etc don't have time to be consistent or high quality!
@GabrielVIP
@GabrielVIP 3 месяца назад
Hey bro! That is not something that I can teach. That is directly connected to your discipline and your desire to do it. Consistency can also be 1 video every month and work just on weekends on your videos if this is maximum of what you can do. The most important thing is to do it! When I was employed I still managed to do 1 video / week and worked every day for 1 hour after work at my videos. 1 day to prepare, 1 day to make the script, 1 day to shoot, one day to edit and so on. I know! It's hard, but you can make 1 video every month and that will be great if this is maximum of what you can do right now.

@@GabrielVIP I was being sarcastic bro! ;) I work.. play sports... coach football...and host three podcasts... videos are at the bottom of priority in that list unfortunately...I can make them, it's the editing I hate...takes too much time and has burned me out
