Well done, Shane. Glad it’s not just me who likes wider decks-especially where it matters, as you said. The lack of concave, though! I hope yow starts adding more concave to their decks.
@@shanelai2515 That would be the best of both worlds! I managed to put my hands only on the Arica so far... But still struggling to get a Snapper over to Brazil! hahaha
The pain that I have put my Medina through, riding off road, grinding on highway barriers, ollies off ledges, I truly thought it would be in shambles by now. But like yours it is still riding as well as day one after two months of hard use. I am really impressed.
I bought the arica right now. I first bought the oxelo some month ago because I wasn't sure if surfskating is the right sport for me. But now I am in love and wanted to get a more advanced board which also suits to beginners. Your video helped a lot. Thank you!
Great video! I bought arica in black. also have Yow Pyzewl Ghost. The Arika is a pro level, for me is difficult but is the coolest and funny surfskate than I have. Arika turns a lot compared with another surfskates than I have.
Great review Shane. I wish I order this board or camo instead of Pukas but that’s a part of a search for best surfskate. I like Meraki a lot on the other hand.
Thanks for the review. Specific specs are helpful. Both the inside bolt and wheelbase dimensions. Noticed YOW notes "deep" contour. I guess their relative concept of deep.
You gotta try a soulboardiy dude, there outstanding decks, mega wide, light and the torsion flex is the best for feedback for surfskate. Just my opinion but I think you'll love them 🤙🏻 Thanks for another great review, I think I'll click buy on the Arica. Thanks for the info dude
Hi! Can you give me advice please? I am 190 and my weight is about 85. Also i use 12 Uk shoes size. I can’t decide between Yow Hole shot and yow Arica. Both of them are good, both of them have nice design. The only difference is the width. I love the hole shot design, but afraid that it will be not enough space for my feet. What can you recommend for me? P.s. I already have Slide avalanche 31 as a first serfskate. It is pretty good, almost enough place for my feet, but it is feel more like for chill riding. Hard to sharp turn and slides. Want to try something different.
Haven't tried the medina camo yet. They are quite similar in terms of size. Both wide and have a large tail, which I like. I might have a penchant for arica because of it squared shspe
Yeah. The arica or medina are pretty good all rounder. Very comfy. But if you are after deep concave, go with smoothstar. It's more suited for bowl and parks.
@@shanelai2515 Hi Shane, Thanks a lot for your inspiring videos. Only tried Oxelo in the stores and I am getting really hyped by those Medina Camo and Arica. I'm a rookie and 186 cm tall. Do you think this is a good match ? That's a pretty harsh decision to make in regard of the investment... Thanks for your help !
Big fan of the channel Shane. Trying to decide between the Arica and Snappers but not sure if extra 0.5inch width of the Arica makes up for the lack of concave. This will be my first surfskate and would like it to be versatile for learning snaps and maybe some light bowl action, although mostly neighborhood carving and fun. What are your thoughts between the two? Does the Snappers (or similarly concave board) ever feel tiring, with too much concave for long sessions? Thanks!
Haven't tried the snapper but I have the carver super slab which has the hyperspoon concave(really deep). It's like a sports car, it kinda forces you to be aggressive and your leg, esp the calves are always under a higher baseline tension. So you def feel the muscle burn faster. It it's for cruising and doing a lot of pumping, not ideal. For bowl, they are optimal
Just the insight I was hoping for. I had not heard that before but suspected there were some cons to large concave. Sounds like Arica may be the better choice then for my likely majority of riding. I don’t have any bowls close to the house so it would be occasionally at best.
I have a Puka Dark that just came in, how come your board doesn’t have the new crappy white wheels that Surfskate Love reviewed? Any thoughts on that Shane?
Very old reply, but do you have the link to that video? I've got a pukas dark with the white wheels, curious to learn about them to see if upgrading is worth it.
This model similar to 77 Toledo Smooth Star (17 Wheel base) 34 and 33 Deck size I think its fair comparison better than Pukas Dark Can you comparison Arica and 77 Toledo I’m undecided about which one i should buy
Both have very wide deck. 77 has way more concave and is more suited for bowls. Arica more flat and comfortable barefoot Arica is more twitchy and 'playful' 77 has less lean
Fantastic work as usual, Shane. Odd question, but what size shoes do you use? I only ask as I felt swamped on a Medina. That said I’m used to street decks and using the edges for leverage. Cheers!
Many thanks mate! Old street decks used to be 10”+ wide (I’m taking 80s as I’m quite old) and I was fine with those as a teen. I guess it’s just adapting and improving my technique. Thanks again - honestly, really useful review and brilliant channel. Such a great vibe.
Nice one, I was waiting for it! How long did you own the arica and tested it until the vid? And would you say its pushable with practice or way too instable and only to move with pumping?
Great review. I wish there were decks of this type, wider and concave, for big people like me, so as not to have to ride on flat and narrow boards, losing the grip of the feet (Yow Malibu 36' in my case). My only hope is Smoothstart Manta Ray I think.
You'd still get wheelbite with narrower decks. The meraki system allows so much range of motion. Smaller wheels would be recommended to minimise wheelbite
