@@DiabolicCrusher yeah , and they charge full price lol. those obsolete absurd copy and paste texture is even making the ps2 game look nice, that's the problem.
"Who in his right mind gives ADOL the helm of a boat?!" Oh, man, I can't wait for Dogi to quip about the fun combo of Adol + boats. Ah, I can't wait for this game and the Kuro games...
Okay, this trailer really has me interested. Adol has got to be one of the smoothest swordsmen I've ever seen. His dodges and parries were amazing to see. And @2:23, I can almost see Crono and Frog smiling with approval over the continued legacy of the X-Strike still being carried and passed on.
I'm gonna go full Skallagrim now and overanalyse a cutscene for a bit. 02:46 That sword bind (before the nonetheless epic kick to the face) did kinda have me raising an eyebrow, especially with the spin beforehand, _especially_ while his opponent's sword was still threatening him. There are many ways Adol could've gotten out of that bind immediately, and he should have, instead of just pushing against his opponent's sword like an idiot for no reason other than to set up the gag. If I were directing, I'd've had him break the bind over his head and step back to make way for the kick. You can make a character's swordplay look flashy and impressive while still having them make moves that make sense... though the point that comments like mine often disregard is that the animators probably don't know much about swordplay, and are probably using other animation for inspiration and reference. But a trope is a trope, and Adol's swordsmanship is anime as fuck.
I think the Ys team know that it's always been about gameplay. The graphics are janky and colourful but they know that that's not what matters to the player. Much respect.
Just occurred to me, Adol has left his heavier armor and shield in the past now (from like Ys1 and such) since his skills have gotten better. Stuff like that would most likely slow him down with how he fights nowadays.
I mean this game is set between Ys 2 and 4 so not quite sadly Adol just likes to change his mind on how he likes to fight tho you could develop head canons for his 1 sworded appearences celceta - lost his memories and his fighting style of choice 8 - deserted island with limited resources 9 - shield would get in the way of his monstrum arm's abilities 10 - er idk, travling light?
@@Kraftium Ah so that is the time frame of this game? Okay, well then there goes that theory out the window. Thought it might have been after 7 or some later title.
@@Kraftium Its funny cause the light novel that takes place after 8 but before 9 explains that Adol and Dogi often are strapped for cash a lot of the time and need to sell off whatever gear they got from the games traveling around lol. Thinking about it is kind of funny cause he just throw his master crafted OP sword from 8 into the back of something and it gets stuck and it gets away and he's just like meh so its probably similar to this between other games lol.
Action looks amazing. Visual style is cool. If this can stick the landing regarding story and characters it could be a serious hit, but we NEED the pacing/narrative to be good these days.
Ys 10 is looking so much better. They need to massively promote this game to make sure it sells big. This time, it actually looks like a decent game. The people making this series work so hard but it goes unnoticed. Falcom please do this game justice. I don't know about your financial stability but do everything in your power to get this game out to as many people as you can. We all start somewhere before going big. It's never too late
Sadly, nisa will get publishing rights in the west so it's unlikely to get any advertisements or hype, i wish Falcom would just self-publish already and hire their own translators instead of partnering with these scumbags, but alas. As for their financial stability, i heard Kuro 2 flopped in Japan, it might not be too good so here's hoping this game fixes that.
@@DiabolicCrusher Kuro 2 undersold because it was underwhelming. It took everything Kuro 1 did and just made crap from it. Even the ongoing plot kind of went nowhere.
@@flashergoldpower15 That is not what it means, especially if Kuro 3 does better and Ys X keeps the company afloat. One game from a multiple-entries series underselling is no big deal, especially as every title is vital to the Kiseki storyline. They can’t just skip it.
Falcom animators had a better character development than they own characters and that is not Easy hahaha. Such a Gem of a trailer, I am really excited to play this.
@@mr.sinjin-smyth I did not play Any of them, so It is hard to say, haha. However, I like more the way Falcon Tell stories, even If YS is not know for its amazing plot, I still enjoy It, because the story and the amazing gameplay work so well together. I've heard that FFXVI is freaking awesome tho. Did tou played It?
@@markjoseph6243 I mainly play on PC these days so not yet. Will do so once FFXVI gets a PC release. I'm fairly acquainted with Ys series also having played Ys III, Ys Memories of Celceta, Ys VIII and Ys IX, so I'm so looking forward to Ys X myself.
@@mr.sinjin-smyth I see, you are in the same dilema I am. I'll wait for the PC Port as well. Good to see you like YsVIII too, It has my favorite combat, I dare to say, in any action video-game. But, my heart goes to the Trails series all the way. Have you ever played It?
@@markjoseph6243 Love the Trails games having played so far played the full Cold Steel series. Looking forward to Trails into Reverie, though I'm also aware of the the Sky trilogy and Zero, might give them a go eventually. Another game I'm so excited for is The Legend of Nayuta Boundless Trails coming in September. JRPGs and Survival Horrors are my go to game genres. 😊
Ngl this game could be the best entry in the series, combat looks super fun, story seems interesting, the cutscenes are the best i've ever seen from falcom, and the facial expressions honestly make it all so much better
Yes, but their lack of budget caused the pubblication in west years after the original release. Is sad to tell, but maybe an acquisition by Nintendo or Bandai Namco could be a good thing, Nihon Falcom could have more budget and developers.
@@BLAZER_VA probably because comparison to Final Fantasy or Tales of saga, their brands are too much a niche. For example, the entire Trails saga only sold about 7 millions of copies worldwide.

Like a bird with its wings torn off, we are gradually deprived of our freedom. And we long for a return to the days when we were free. But the truth is we could always go back to those days" -Excerpt from "The Paradise Lost of Norman" by Adol Cristin
I came into the Y's series late with VIII and IX but REALLY liked the series. Especially as I got kind of burnt out with the Trails series. Y's does seem to benefit from keeping its stories pretty self contained for the most part so it seems to tell a story that seems more impactful and consequential then some of the later entries into the Trails series.
1:28 I came a little, Thank you Falcom, To whomever is doing the music on the Ys games; you are a fucking legend, your music is the best in gaming history.
@@jeff-ds2pr Nihon Falcom got less than 100 developers, is the reason why their games in West are going published years after the original release in Japan. Just today is going be in published Trails into Reverie, after 3 years from the original release in Japan.. Another example: Trails to Azure's original release was 2011, but only this year (after 12 years) they published the western version. Ys X is being published in 2023 only in Japan, Nihon Falcom said nothing yet about the western release.
@@jeff-ds2pr nope, Ys 9 got published in Japan in 2019 and 2021 worldwide. Ys X will be published at september of this year only in Japan and Nihon Falcom said nothing yet about western release. 2 months left, so probably no western release this year.
ys x nordics will prolly be best in series, so far best is ys 8 lacrimosa of dana but with all mana movement techs we seen in trailers its starting to look like the ys x will be best so far
I don´t see it suprassing the whole package of VIII yet (Gameplay, setting, story, characters, music). But it looks great and even a game half as good as Ys VIII would still be a great game.
nah , in your dream maybe. that shitty graphics was surely a deal breaker here , especially after their statement "oh, we're using the new engine with improved graphics" , my ass. it looks even worst than dana by a degree which using the older engine lol.
Just looking at the trailer, I got the impression that they're optimising for Switch. The graphics are nothing cutting-edge (though it still looks aesthetically pretty).
"Dear Diary: I, Adol Chrispin, after cosplaying as the Persona 5 Phantom Thieves and amassing a harem of monster lollies, now proclaim myself a Viking wannabe! I want to have adventures where I save the world (again!) from oddly-named, weirdly-themed and vague antagonists just so that I can flaunt runes and nonsensical germanic-rooted words! GUTEN ABEND! ICH ESSE BRÖT! MIT! KÄAAAAAAASE!!!!
Damn so it really is only 2 playable characters? That sucks. I heard a lot about the rumors of changes they made and it honestly worries me. I loved YS 8 and 9 and I wouldn’t really change a thing. :(
@@advmx3 I even found a few grammar mistakes in Ys IX. lol One of them having the word repeated twice in the sentence side by side or another where it had an extra letter.
Looks like a step up in the series but still keeping the Ys core mechanics. I am biased towards Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana so if X can top that I will be rly impressed!
it looks like they are also possibly limiting the party size down to just Adol and this new companion. Curious on how will that will factor into the gameplay and the story
@@mr.sinjin-smythys recently have a deep story, I wouldn't say it's better but it's still good, if it come to final fantasy I think it's better compared to trails series because it's more focused in storytelling
I loved YS VIII so much!! It reminded me good games could still be made with its story and characters. I haven't really had interest in the other YS games but hoping this one is good!
Yup, definitely feels like the people who thought the world design of Monstrum Nox was a good idea either had a stern talking to or an internal realization. This trailer screams, "Guys, don't worry, we know Lacrimosa of Dana was better so we're going to take a proper inspiration and try to surpass it. CUE GREAT ADVENTURE!"
Lacrimosa of Dana got me so hyped and played it multiple times.. Monstrum Nox has been a disappointment.. But this looks really good.. I'm soooo excited!!!!
@@krisnantoprayogosantoso4033 we’ll wait and see what kind of music the remaining team produces. People say Falcom is talented at letting the talent go 😅 They even wouldn’t let the music team to have their own social media it seems 😅
