I haven't listened to Welcome to Night Vale since 2014, but I'm happy to report that the humor has aged pretty well! If you want to check out the original show, head to www.nightvalepresents.com
I am so glad to see the community is still alive. The most recent season has been a TRUE return to form and is LOVELY. Do try it. But the Spy in the Dessert is not that great.
I'm so happy you've made this I got into your channel in 2014 and got into nightvale in 2016 And it only took 9 years for those worlds to combine Thank you
Oh my god please keep making more of these, I don't have the patience to keep listening to the show like I used to but this scratches a long dormant itch in my brain
Other than the changes in intonation and outside sounds edited in; if you didn't tell me I would struggle to tell it was edited by the subjects alone. Stay away from the soil? Mayor vanishing? Dog eating someone? Yeah sounds right.
"She disappoints, she disappears, she dies, but she DON'T" as someone who has rewatched Woods more than any other of your videos, I appreciated this a lot
If you take Local 58, narrate it in a generic white dude voice trying to impersonate an old radio host, then you've basically heard everything Nightvale has to offer. You're better off with the Magnus Archives.
1:50 "She was swallowed alive by the dog, which has become a very popular lifestyle choice these days." You know I don't think I ever expected "furry vore" to be a topic in a Dathings video but here we are.
I am so thankful to see this become a reality, as people learn to appreciate the wisdom of it. Today, on the thirty-fifth of Septober six years ago, it's been a whole decade since I became soup and was swallowed by a dog, and I couldn't be happier! That is, if I hadn't disappointed and disappeared since then.
it's become such a popular lifestyle choice for a reason. It's become quite the popular knifestyle choice, as well, but that's neither here nor there nor hair nor theer. It's in Minnesota.
"performing secret vulgarities" actually goes so hard lmfao I love it I really should listen to Welcome to Night Vale at some point, seems like a fun time (also loved the 1-1 reference in the lil visualizer, that was fun)
i was about to comment this lol it also would be on brand for night vale to suddenly upload an episode completely consisted of mangled audio from previous episodes. and then then the next episode cecil would apologize for the disintergration of reality or something XD
@@nyuh "Hello my dear listeners. To start, I would like to apologize on behalf of the City Council for the disintegration of the fabric of reality the other day, which may have manifested in corruption of our previous broadcast. The Sheriff's Secret Police have issued a statement regarding the situation, saying it's mostly under control now. If you see anything indicating the destruction of reality, contact the Sheriff's Secret Police by shouting into any telephone box, they are all bugged anyway. And now, the news"
As if I didn't need further confirmation that I have Night Vale Brainrot, I was able to successfully guess that this episode was primarily sampling episode 24. The bits about the mayor being missing were a giveaway, but still. Excellent video
These YTPs have done permanent damage to me because every time I think of two similarly sounding words I automatically create a portmanteau of them. I've used "fantastrous" and "disastic" while talking to my friends several times now. This video will only deepen the damage. Keep up the amazing work.
you have homestar runner to thank for that. dathings has clearly been shown to be a fan of it, and the character strong bad would frequently create portmanteaus in the strong bad email episodes (usually in the style of “[THING 1] [THING 2], or [PORTMANTEAU]” or “…as I like to call it, [PORTMANTEAU]”. the first example that comes to mind is email 171, “underlings,” in which he says “…smelly underlings, or as i call them, smunderlings…”
Yes, a Night Vale YTP! It sounds like a normal episode, honestly :) And that "having once ate a clock myself" joke is the master wordsmithery I love about DaThings!
Not sure what the source is all about, but I liked the little visual gags (Mario Bros. 1-1 lol) and how expertly you were able to sentence mix a story together here.
you know I don't know if anyone ever actually said "the horse will always be a million times better than any car" or "handwoven fabric will always be a million times better than machine-woven" but with *art qua art* it's *actually true* until we get way way WAY better at AI design
Oh my goodness, I was not expecting a WTNV YTP Your portmanteaus (my favorite part) were absolutely on point this time. Or your pointmanteaus, if you will.
"which has become a very popular lifestyle choice these days" reminds me of Abe Simpson's story about wearing an onion on his belt, which was the style at the time.
My first thought was to pick an episode that would be freshly turning 10 years old by the time I published my YTP of it. The fact that it happened to be the one with the WWDTM reference was a happy accident
I legit started listening to this podcast June of last year, I'm not a die hard fan now or whatever, but this is still weird, it feels like a one year anniversary.
I wouldnt have thought that making ytps of podcast would really be possible, since u know, no visuals, but ive been definitly proven wrong! the audio-based jokes Are also a big part of the ytp humor after all! (man this makes me wish for the magnus archives ytp lol)
This has got to be the best sentence-mixing I've ever heard in a YTP! It doesn't sound choppy at all! It all feels so solid! I guess the tone of the voice in the original source really helped. ;)
@@FriskDrinksBrisk It's when Cecil says "And I like bread." This comes from the episode Stanchurian Candidate, where a character named Tad Strange says this. Tad Strange has the same voice actor as Cecil. In fact, that soundbite was ripped directly from Gravity Falls.
Back in my day before we had TV we listened to the radio and we took our reel to reel tape recorders and recorded radio shows then cut up and spliced the recording back together to make the radio man say "bazonkers" and "dingle dong"
This is my second favorite codpast, right behind My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother and My Brother.
Dathings1 always keeps it fresh. Dunno if I just imagined it, but in the beginning the YTPs were ultra clean, then dabbled with a little lost innocence, then regained hope. I've been around since the early days and what a journey lol. Skills beyond words. An ANALogy I can offer up is Dathings1 is like a video game, not a AAA+ mess shat out for the masses, but a gem for only whose who seek out gems.
