This is one of the best yugioh episodes ever imo. Each guy giving Yusei a card to make up something to challenge the overbearing warden is a great message and what a card game community should really be about. It’s a shame how different the shows present the players to the real world.
Can we take a moment to appreciate that the guards managed to beat Tanner so badly that he can't stand even an hour later but managed to avoid knocking him unconscious? That is a very special kind of beating
All over magazines and talking back to the warden. In the sub it makes sense because they literally found him carrying a knife on him but here they beat him up for having magazines.
@@yraco1232 If I recall Armstrong planted the knife are you sure Tanner owned the knife since Armstrong seems like the kind of person to plant fake evidence
Well seeing how Jesse Wheeler looks like he has been to prison due to the marks I think it’s safe to say he’s the one that influenced their speech patterns
@@ethancasem8259 those first 2 are the same reason, and reason 3 doesn’t matter. Yusei had ZERO ways out of losing. no facedowns, no hand traps, nothing. And AGAIN, the show itself in later episodes makes it CLEAR it was a loss.
Okay but honestly that scene where everyone gives Yusei the single card they treasured the most and start talking about the sentimental value of the cards is legit a pretty cool scene. And everyone in the cells got so excited when their or their friend's cards got used in the duel. It's a shitty deck with no synergy but at least it's a symbolic deck with no synergy lmao
@@MrFancyDragon my only explanation or head canon is that maybe a former ex gave it to them so they cherish it or maybe their younger sibling handed it to them in a moment of endearment
I always liked playing with light attribute monsters. But there are still so many other things it was confusing trying to find connections in all of them but still
This song has been burned into my heart and soul since I was a little kid. I used to watch 5ds on Saturday morning cartoons; Fox box, Vortex, CW channel, all that. I watched the original Duel Monsters series back then too.
*Goodwin orders Armstrong to put Yusei in a situation where he wants to duel *Armstrong literally does everything in his power to make sure Yusei can't duel. Why did Goodwin keep this guy so long again?
It makes a lot more sense in the original version: Godwin ordered Takasu to do nothing to Yusei except continue to observe him. While Takasu is normally extremely loyal to Godwin, he had severe prejudice towards people from Satellite and didn't think Yusei was worthy of being a signer, so he set all of this up just to hurt and humiliate him, against Godwin's orders.
In the original, it was a knife, but here, they censored it in a very unusual way. I have a feeling it was a certain *type* of “magazine” that he supposedly had ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Anybody else think that Armstrong should've had a chain burn deck? They're considered cheap, lazy, and skilless; they focus on doing small amounts of damage many times per turn, and Armstrong would probably want to draw as much pain out of Yusei as possible; and he could keep his chain theme.
@@GoblinAttacForce This is exactly why we remember. Because it showed how they would give up what they loved most for a good cause and Yusei showing them such respect and appreciation.
From playing the Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Generations app, I know that decks with mismatched cards are more likely to be a problem than a good strategy. It was smart of Yusei to come up with a way to get most of the cards into the graveyard so that he could focus on getting Armstrong’s life points down enough to use Rubble King and Blasting the Ruins to win.
@@h00pladeeznuts81 duel links yes but the duel generations app let you go very far for free and even duel people for free before it got shut down. Probably the best yugioh game ever in my experience.
Jeez armstrong pisses me off But joke time Armstrong: WHAAAT where did you find those??!! Yusei: in the one place youd never look in a diet book in the prison library
Yea Sean Schemmel is way overused in the dubbing industry now. Quite honesty Im fed up with Sean as an actor. He's in way too much now and there isnt a lot of variance in his voices now.
@@internetmovieguy Maybe so, but I still like his Goku voice. He does a damn good job as Crowler aswell in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and honestly I don't like judging people's work based on stuff outside of it. But yeah, his fame as a voice actor has for sure inflated his ego, so I can't say I have much respect for him other than as a voice actor.
@@SovereignJarodKwan no no no. As a voice actor, he is one of the few who make an effort to alter his voice. When he was crowler in gx, sounded nothing like goku. When he was the rapper in gx, he sounded similar, but had a different enough voice profile. He makes a good effort, unlike a bunch In the industry that are the exact same voice for every character they voice without being exceptional.
Lmao that roommate of Yusei is talking about his old roommate Yusei ingore him thinking about the crismon dragon seriously why this Yugioh arc is so hilarious 😂😂😂
*Greg Abbey,* the voice of Tristan Taylor, from the original Yu-Gi-Oh series, voices Yusei Fudo. *David Wills,* the voice of Tyranno Hassleberry from Yu Gi Oh GX and The Big Time from Thumb Wrestling Federation(Seasons 3-5) voices Chief Armstrong. At 13:02, I KNEW his voice sounds like The Big Time. Imagine if he were to call Yusei "turkey": "Where'd you find those, turkey?!" *Wayne Grayson,* the voice of Joey Wheeler, voices Bolt Tanner, that duelist at 13:37, and Jesse Wheeler(Joey's cousin). *Oliver Wyman,* the voice of Big the Cat from the Sonic series, Drew from Pokemon & Aster Phoenix from GX and Arc V, voices Alex. *14:43**-Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds VS Yu-Gi-Oh GX & Thumb Wrestling Federation: Yusei Fudo VS. Tyranno Hassleberry/The Big Time!*
And just to add in: Greg & Wayne voiced Raph & Mikey in TMNT. And I still appreciate this video link below despite the obvious winner. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wJFwgPqA1og.html
GRIMLOCK07 OH! You’re referring to the 2003 TMNT show! Whoops! ^^; I was about to correct you and say that Nolan North voiced Raph in the 2007 TMNT movie, which is what I thought you were referring to. But, then I remember that Wayne Grayson did voice Mikey in the 2003 show, so I double-checked, and sure enough, Greg Abbey DID voice Raph! (That I did not know before.)
Yusei was so f**king cool The way he stands up to authority, isn't afraid of someone who have power over him and is willing to stand up for others. Man was a true revolutionary!

@@aozorahaou2643 It's kind of like a " Where are they now " montage at the end of a movie. Like " Tristan traveled to the future to play card games on motorcycles."
5:36 Okay I get that we know Yusei is a super honest guy and wouldn't rat on you, but don't you think showing your newest cellmate your escape route is super risky?
"Did you look everywhere for the mark of the Crimson Dragon?" Armstrong: "Yeah, we searched im all over." "Are you sure?" Armstrong: "Of course, we looked all over and couldn't find anything." Me: "Why did that sound both threatening and sexual..?"
You people like theories? Here's one concerning this episode. Was this prison once a Duel Academy? Those are definitely GX-era duel disks, only colored differently.
@@luiscuellar685 Funny you should say that, I remember in the DS games you can get his runner frame, it had insane speed but poor handling. If I had to guess though, I'd say it uses the nose and wings to turn by leaning
8:59 You have to admit, compared to all the other Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonists, Yusei is a bona fide badass. Would Yugi stand up to Armstrong like that? Jaden? Yuma? Yuya? Maybe Yusaku? Didn't think so.
@@asmylia9880 Look, it's been established in Arc-V that none of these world really coincide since in GX, Aster was nothing big, then in Arc-V he's a king. Excuse me, what?
@@MasterOfViewership in GX Aster was nothing? Are you seriously kidding!? In GX, Aster was already a prodigy before he joined in S3 and also went in GX Pro-League in and out like it's his daily business. He was even considered being one of the Top 5 world duelist behind our DM Trio by Pegasus. Besides Arc-V is playing in a whole different timeline/universe than the DM/GX/5D's timeline. Hence Yugi giving Judai winged Kuriboh at the very beginning.
Has anyone realized that yuseh is stubborn from where he could have just took in the Stardust Dragon and go back to the satellites and then he accepted the offer that any one of the prisoners who have said yes but you're too stubborn to go with him
16:19, the fact that after Armstrong says that the duel disks give a jolt, and Yusei responds with "what" is hella hilarious cause it sounds like he's saying "watt" XD
17:36, 17:38, 17:39, 17:40 and 17:43: Take your jolt, Chief! I’ll never get zapped! (Evil laughter) Mr. Armstrong has rigged the arena, so his static generator will never zap him if he loses Life Points. 18:01: YOU CHEATER! (18:08) HEHEHAHAHA!
Ah, it's this episode again. I remember this one very vividly from when I was younger, expressly for the fact Yusei had to make do with a hodgepodge deck completely unlike every other instance in the show. It was just so cool and almost inspired me to go out and buy some cards myself.
You know what they say about Duel Prison: "What ever you don't don't go face down position or else you'll activate Bubba's effect and he'll inflect piercing damage."
Thank you Konami for this channel 5ds is my favorite and infernity and kalin Kessler got me into this game and I will always believe in the heart of the cards
@Eric DeVries What do we want? Holograms! When do we want it? NOW! What do we do? Give Konami money and force them to spend it on making the real card game like the show!
If Trudge was there, he would hear Armstrong's compliments & knew about his seedy situations! Yet, Trudge would say, "What are you up to, Armstrong? I'm getting suspicious of your whereabouts."
