FYI: Dragon Shield's Matte sleeves are only matte on the back of the sleeves (not on the front like Ultra Pro Matte).

I'm curious, are the original clear have the nice shuffle texture that makes the cards shuffle well? I've heard people say The matte ones feel good and tend to be the ones recommended, but it is possible all Dragon Shields are equipped with this texture. There's also Matte Clear and Matte Anti-Glare Clear. The latter seems to have a frosty diffuse effect that reduces the harsh light. I have seen Ultra Pro Matte sleeves and they have some thing similar, which I don't like because it reduces the reflectiveness of the inside foil too, which turns your deck into looking like a bunch of commons. Is this the same with Dragon Shield Anti-Glare? I'm gonna buy the non Anti-Glare Matte ones. I recently bought Titansheild Matte Clear, and they are almost perfect outer sleeves, complete with the great shuffle texture, but they are a bit short, so some of my Konami and Ultra Pro rare sleeves pop out by a mm unfortunately, though I think they could be great for something else, like Pokemon Cards, binder sleeves, or Extra Deck oversleeves. I think Dragonshield is the only other company that has this texture on clear Standard Sized Sleeves.

I prefer using Inner Sleeve with the Yugi Oh size sleeves. Using Standard Size sleeves for double sleeving will increase the bulk of your deck more significantly than using inner sleeves. But your method of sleeving is useful for those who wants to use Art/Official Sleeves, so I can understand that. As for clear versus matte, Clear give more clarity and appreciation to the artwork and foils, while matte offer more friction and better shuffling/hold during play. One is not better than the other, I guess it's just preference.

Dragon Shields Clear come in Original, Matte, and Matte Anti-Glare. I think only the Anti-Glare ones are matte on the front and back, the Matte originals I'm told are only reflective on the back, so you can still appreciate maximum Holo but also shuffle well and protect your waifu sleeves. I can't confirm this.

Some good information about the Dragon Sleeves Since some colors of them are not fully opaque you can use the smoke inner sleeves to compensate for that (the real tight tight ones) if you opt to use standard sleeves as oversleeves for the yugioh-sized ones you can use the DS matte clear sleeves to show your art sleeves art but keep the shuffle feel of matte sleeves (getting rid of the usual weird sticky feel that art sleeves usually start giving with repeated use)

I have been using Dragon Shield Mattes since I started playing, we don't really have access to a lot of brands here where I live, but I have been more than satisfied with Dragon Shields so far. With that said, now that we can double sleeve, I really hope they make some japanese size inner sleeves, I'd love to double sleeve with Dragon Shields, just not like this. I'd love the sealable inner sleeve in japanese size too to be honest.

What i do is use Ultra Pro Small sized 100 ct inner sleeves fit like a glove they are 60mmx87mm and it is perfect yugioh size. Only had 1 in my whole deck feel too tight on a card and that was bc the card was off center. I put them in my 62mmx89mm deck protector sleeves and its perfect. Slick shuffle feel not being matte finish backed but they really are good sleeves. Id rather have a snug fit. Im not worried about dmg bc the card is literally cocooned PERFECTLY when you use the 60mmx87mm. some. A quality job is a job done once. Thats why I take my time and sleeve them ONCE. For the record though, KMC perfect fit minis and Dragon Shield Matte Japanese sized sleeves are the best way to double sleeve for Yugioh. My other deck im building will be Dragon shields.

I think Paul was dissatisfied with other Matte Sleeves like Ultra Pro because the Matte Frosted clear side reduces reflections, which is actually a double-edged sword because although it makes it not as blinding if there is harsh light, it also reduces reflective holos, which may make your cards look like commons. But Dragonshield seems to have Clear Matte (only the back is Matte), Clear Matte Anti-Glare (probably both sides are matte), and Original Clear (both sides are glossy probably, and it might not have the textured backing to shuffle well.) The only other clear sleeve with the shuffle texture is Titansheild, but they are too short for double sleeving, unfortunately. I could very well be wrong about other sleeves, but I think Ultimate Guard and Ultra Pro clear Standard sized do not have the textured shuffle feel, so they will start off too slippery and over time stick too much.
@pailofawesome

The tight form-fitting sleeves ( Perfect Fit's ) are used a lot in Magic: The Gathering. We double-sleeve by using those, inserting the card upside down into them ( so that the opening of the sleeve is at the bottom of the card ). You then stick that sleeve into a normal-sized sleeve for your card game, with the opening of the Perfect-Fit facing downwards so that the card is right-side up in the larger normal sized sleeve. This form of double-sleeving has been proven to protect cards from water as well. It doesn't allow water to reach the card because it has a hard time traveling into the second sleeve. I really urge Yugioh players to do similar if they are now allowed to double-sleeve. Two "loose" sleeves ( one not as form-fitting ) won't really help protect the card I fear; though you could always test it with a bowl of water and submerging a card.

This is true. I watched a vid on dragon sleeves from tolarian (I think was his youtube name) and he said it could protect the cards from water. I called bullshit. Then he actually put it water for a few mins. Took it out and it was still dry. 10/10 best sleeves on the market

Was looking into it last night actually. Unfortunately they only make perfect fit inner sleeves for standard size (MTG, Pokemon). For japanese size they only have the card sleeves themselves. Consider getting KMC perfect fits for the time being until Dragon Shield comes out with their own. However beware that you might run into some issues when sleeving due to how tight and we'll fitting the dragon shields themselves are already

I recently ordered Titansheild from Amazon with that great texture, and unfortunately all of my shiny cool sleeves I want to protect are too long and clip out by a mm, which are the Konami sleeves (BEUD and also Kaibacorp), as well as some reflective green and purple ultra pro, as seen in my Harpies and Dark Magician deck profiles.

So it seems despite some saying they are too wide or expensive, these are probably the best ones out there unless you have smaller sleeves or don't care about shuffling, or maybe I am misinformed that Ultra Pro Matte and Ultimate Guard have the grip textures.

In MTG you double sleeve by using a perfect fit inner sleeve then a standard sleeve over the top, looking at my YuGiOh deck I have doubts that a perfect fit sleeve would fit around the card and inside a JP-size dragon shield without warping the card. So my guess is the best approach for YuGiOh is to use clear outersleeves over your favourite JP-size sleeves.

@shelltear7277 3 года назад
Not sure about classic size. But I think standard size is Pokemon/Magic the Gathering card size - so a bit bigger than Yugioh cards. Japanese size is the size below that - these will fit Yugioh cards. The better way to double sleeve is to have ‘perfect fit’ Japanese sleeves inside and regular Japanese sleeves on top. Perfect fit sleeves are slightly smaller than Japanese size but are just big enough to fit a Yugioh card in without damaging the card at all, giving it the best protection as there are few air gaps.

I think to be legal for play they cant be bigger than the 63mmx90mm. I think Yugioh cards only can be sleeved with small sized trading card sleeves/Japanese sized. I dont think its legal to use a Standard size sleeve bc it would be too big compared to the actual yugioh small sized card. I think putting your cards first in the Konami KC sleeves and then a larger sleeve is illegal for tourney play. Im newer but played way back in the days of no sleeves...2005. Im learning too what is legal. From what I hear the best combo is just using KMC perfect fit mini inner sleeves and Dragon Shield Matte Japanese sized outers.

Most people in other trading card games sleeve with a smaller inner sleeve. Like you said the outer clears are good for rare sleeves. BEWARE OF ULTRA PRO. Obviously not every pack is going to be terrible, but the pro-fit sleeves are super super tight. I won’t even use them because I’m afraid of damaging my ultis trying to sleeve them. I wouldn’t recommend using them at all. Maybe I just got a bad pack, but I’ll never buy them again.

There are two options 1. Perfect fit inside Japanese sleeve. 2. Japanese sleeve inside a clear oversleeve. For oversleeves you can use Japanese size over sleeves and standard sleeves so long as the card does not move significantly and is clear. In terms of the standard Dragonsheilds, just bought the clear ones to test myself, when using them as double sleeves they should be fine as the thickness of having a Japanese sleeve inside does not let the cards move. @@Gambino.- there is no ruling disallowing the use of standard sleeves. Rather it is the fit of sleeves. You can use standard sleeves so long as there is no significant movement in the double sleeve. For clarification: imgur.com/a/j2unNF5

Also since when is that how you f-ing double sleeve a card, I'm not a big competitive Yugioh player, but in all of the other TCGs that I play competitively in, you sleeve the card with the that thin sleeve and use an actual colored sleeve to sleeve the card as normal.

There is no specific ruling disallowing the use of standard sleeves as outer sleeves. Rather it is the fit of the sleeves that matter. If you have standard sleeves that snuggly fit over your sleeves then it should be legal. For clarification on ruling: imgur.com/a/j2unNF5

@@joshuaj7379 If that's the case, then using a standard outer sleeve should be just fine. The Japanese sleeves fit snug in the standard with no moving around.

I bought a pack of their Mini Japanese Ivory matte sleeves. I have to say I’m not a fan at all. My 40 card deck, looks like a 60 card deck. The deck sits there loosely. One wrong touch, and some of the cards will just fall over. I won’t be buying any more of their sleeves.

@@DMD_Yugioh lmfao everyone has. While i dont usually post anymore and just lurk in the background, im still in the group and follow the goings on around the community. U may be asking “but matt, i miss u getting involved in convos! What happened to make u take the back seat?” Well, DMD, it was bc ppl are toxic and were reporting old posts and comments id make in the group that made me really hate the group, plus, 9/10 times i say something, someone turns it into a meme and makes me a laughing stock. Hell, even ppl on my Friend’s List from locals have screenshot things of mine out of context, and put me on blast in Zodiac. Basically, to put it short, i dont engage in shit on Zodiac anymore bc the community is toxic as shit, and hell, i havent even played this fucking game since Pre-Pandemic. And at this rate, idek when i will come back (Covid and my dad being on Chemo until AT BEST Mid Jan, but more than likely March) even tho i have a fully built Invoked Dogma deck. Perhaps i’m gonna just switch to Pokemon SwSh VGC? Idfk, but yea, Toxic ppl are the worst.
