And then Superheavy Samurais got Monsters which can be placed in the Backrow instead of being destroyed! Oh and also one which doubles as a Field Spell (It's still a monster, but it can be placed in the zone reserved for Field Spells.). And a Level 11 Synchro.
Gong is a character that basically stands out from everyone else in the entire series, possibly the entire ANIME in my opinion. He seems cold and intimidating at first, but once you get to know him and become friends, you know he'll always be there to have your back or cheer you up and even be the best goddamn friend you know. Not only is he willing to stand up for others and his friends, he's even willing to sacrifice his entire strategy, deck and beliefs to protect those he holds dear, even if it means defeat or possibly death. His character doesn't just separate him from the others, but his deck is what makes up what makes him stand out, normally you'd face players with spells, traps and monsters and sometimes without spells or traps, but his deck is what surprises me the most when I saw that he had only MONSTERS in his entire deck. At first I thought it was impossible to make a deck like that but he proved me wrong, SO wrong. But I can see one downside to this deck. Just one spell or trap is enough to throw the deck out of balance, and you'd almost a sitting duck if you do have one in your graveyard. Other than that, this deck is pretty powerful. Honestly, almost every time I see Gong use an action card to save his friend or sacrifice himself for others to get a chance, it makes me cry because there are hardly people in the world who are willing to just put themselves in the line of danger for a close friend or a complete stranger. I know I'm just saying things all around the place, but it's true. This is the reason why I love Gong, his personality and deck, and that's the truth. If I were lying and say Gong is trash, slap me sideways and call me Weevil Underwood.
His other weakness is Deck Devi since all his monsters have low attack... but i find funny how his deck is the only one making Honest ( which is still broken ) pretty useless
Gongenzaka is a interesting character from the Standard Arc, after the Synchro Arc he was reduced to a side character along with Shingo (surprising, I know). At least he has a different dueling style that makes his deck unique and cool. I will warn you if you do watch Arc V, it will make you love it or hate it.
It's pretty good in Duel Links, especially since most of the defensive cards effect ATK or switch to defense position to protect from attacks and they aren't affected.
Agreed. I think that's because at first he came off a little snobby and a bit of a meathead. But over the series he shown compassion and humility. Heck, by time the Friendship Cup came around he was the most humble guy in the group. By time season 3 began he became very wise and the most level headed person in the series. His skills as a duelist was amazing too. His synchro are notably still very strong to this day, hard to summon but very strong....gong strong.
I know this is an old vid, but it's pretty bizarre to me that you didn't mention that the Superheavy Samurai monsters with "soul" in their name fuction as equip cards, allowing Gong's deck some versatility and further protection without undermining the no spells/traps clauses on his cards.
When I seen this part in season 1 episode 7 (2:35) it was like they were there frozen in time, they should’ve made the kids in the playground moving. Also to hear that Gong has no spell and trap in his deck reminded me of the original Yu-Gi-Oh Season 1 episode 2 when Joey Wheeler had his deck full of monsters.
Yep, the trouble of Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad decks well Superheavy Samurais rather, is that their skills get shut down if in Tag Duels his partner ends up chucking S/T cards in the GY which lead to trouble in a hurry.
Gong is in in my top 5 favorite characters of arc V. Can you blame me? The guy sticks by what he believes in to the very end and is just a nice and lovable character all around.
I love this character and when I heard his deck was nothing but monsters the first thought through my head was this, "We have another Wheeler deck but it actually works."
I do like the designs of his monsters more than I did at the start of the series my favorite duel with him was when he dueled Dennis and my favorite monster was the Kyubi one he used against Crow
Gong's deck is very unique and skilled, you could add other monsters into it. For example being Sangan and Kuriboh. Possibly Witch Of The Black Forest of your able to, but some Superheavy Samurais need you to reveal the tip card of your deck for something to happen. (I forget which cards it is).
I loved superheavy’s since their first appearance a deck of only monsters is a interesting choice but once I built the the deck I never stopped I still play them one of my best decks
His duel against realistically played correctly still strong X Sabers themselves with new support and support was Amazing... sadly though his deck is kinda weak against Deck Devi, and you gotta be carefull which cards to use though 👑
Yugioh follows the trinity format for every series except for Sevens (I haven't go rush). The trinity the main protagonist, the main rival and the main dueteragonist. DM: Yugi, Kaiba and Joey GX: Jaden, Chazz and Syrus 5Ds: Yusei, Jack and Crow Zexal: Yuma, Kite and Shark Arc V: Yuya, Reiji and Gong V-rains: playmaker, revolver and soulburner (I only remember their handle names)
It's true on what people say, the a great defense is the best offense! (I am actually using a superheavy samurai deck in yugioh duel links and man... it is something.) I got all the way to Bronze Two using it and thinking about going all the way to King Of Games).
It's a shame that his archetype doesn't get any new support nowadays, can you just imagine how sick would a superheavy samurai fusion or xyz monster would be?( The fusion cards can exist by either contact fusion or a monster effect that fuses from hand or field, like hunting hound or d/d swirl slime) when ddd and entermates get literally *THEIR ANIME USERS* as fing scales
Y4RM and Gongenzaka, the manliest in all of YGO, fun fact tough, he's one of 2 chars ever on pulling a Draw in all the series to date, the other is Kaiba 👑
generally i think its a bad playstyle to just go defensive i mean it is a effective method if you have spell or trap cards but going all monsters means you base your strategy in hopes your opponent is stupid enough to attack your monster repeatedly
Superheavy samurai is probably the most MANLY deck ever put in the game. I mean, no spell, no traps, synchros only, Def position and most important... NO ACTION CARDS. This deck is forbabsolute units
To truly get the most out of the a Super Heavy Samurai deck you need more than the Samurai. To get Big Benkai out fast put 3 copies of Benkai in the deck and 3 copies of Giant Rat in the deck. Giant Rats ability to summon earth monsters with 1500 or less Atk works with Benkai because in defense position with zero spells and traps in the graveyard you can attack using its Def points. And having 1 spell card in the deck can be useful in emergencies with Berserker Soul, since it’s the only spell in the deck you’re guaranteed an unstoppable rampage with Defense position high Def monsters.
Yugi: But that's not how the game works; duel monsters is about supporting your monsters with magic cards, and with no magic in your deck your monsters will get beaten every time
If Gong had that one spell card Banner had used for his Alchemy deck making all cards that would be sent to the graveyard instead removed from the game, Gong's deck would benefit greatly
TheKpa11 That would actually cripple it in the worst way possible. First, he would lose all his graveyard effects and revivals. Second, the second that card was removed, the entire deck is rendered moot.
Wait... So Gong's Japanese name's parts INVERTED is a nod to his style? Ascend, Incarnation, Hill? Flip that and bring it up a notch. Hill, Incarnation, Ascend? The Hill's incarnation ascends? The Mountain's incarnation ascends.
Can you tell me where to find this scene, because I watched episode 114, in which they boarded the pirate ship and kidnapped Zuzu, then Yuya fought with the pirates, then he almost fell into the sea, but Crow and Declin came and pounced on him. 0:50
After Yuya was rescued, in episode 116, they were talking on Declin’s boat and they were sitting, but I did not watch this scene or from the other side, so can you tell me how long this scene existed?
I always that he was in the later years of high school since some that I was a middle schooler do to me being so small at first but I in my last 2 years I finally got my growth spurt it hurt like hell and I drank a gallon of milk a week
