Safet Sušić Pape was then the best football player in Yugoslavia. Many say he was the best of all time. In Italy in 1990, he was already at the end of his career. Srojković, Savičević, Prosinečki and many others say that he was the best. In Italy 90, Yugoslavia was unlucky, losing on penalties to Argentina to enter the semi-finals. Some think that Yugoslavia was world champion in Italy in 90, so that there would not have been a war in Yugoslavia?! 🤔
he was 35 and he wasn't good in Italy. Prosinecki and Savicevic on the bench was a big Osim mistake as well as Vujovic as 1 striker having Pancev, Boksic and Suker on the bench.
My first big tournament I remember. Father Serbian, mother Austrian. I often come back to watch highlites of this glorious times and team. What a team and what a country it was ❤
Prvo svetsko koje sam gledao na TVu kao klinac. Zauvek ostaje urezano u secanju. Jugoslavija je tada imala najlepse dresove ikada. Malo je falilo da se napravi veliki rezultat.
Tada u to vreme je bilo dovoljno samo sreca ti treba a sad Hrvatsku prati ta sreca sve penali i prodju na osnovu dva ili tri igraca sto vrede,...?!A nekad Susic,Stojkovic,Vujovic,Katanec sve imena razlicite republike bili su fidbaleri za razliku od danjasnjih
@@dariotercic6680 Sreca je kad dobijes na lotu. Kad skoro stalno prolazis na penale i osvajas bronce, srebro, i redovni si ucesnik svih SP & EP-a to nije nikakva sreca nego sposobnost. A kuzim da zalis za onim vremenima kad si bio mlad i zdrav (nema te osobe koja ne zali za svojim mladim danima) ali ocigledno ti nogometasi koje si naveo nisu bili nista bolji od danasnjih Hrvatskih nogometasa koji imaju vise trofeja sa samo zadnja dva SP-a nego kaj bivsa SFRJ ima iz njene cijele 45-godisnje povijesti i svih SP-a na kojim je bila.
@@robertbauer3419ovaj tim Jugoslavije nije ni po čemu lošiji od tima Hrvatske koji je igrao finale.Čak bih pre svoj novac stavio na ovaj tim Juge, a takođe mislim da je taj tim bez obzira na samo četvrtfinale bio bliži osvajanju prvenstva u Italiji nego Hrvati na prošlom prvenstvu.
Columbia played way too rough. Can't blame them though, knowing what kind of team Yugoslavia had at that time. They were hoping to get to the penalties and search for their luck there.
Nope, colombia was 3rd i group . Germany and yougoslavia was in top 16 . At the end germany win that coup and yougoslavia was elimineted in 1/4 final against Argentina ( final match was germany vs argentina)
@@aleksandarpesanovic1762 Yeah Colombia was third in the group, but the system was different,with only 24 teams playing, so Columbia was in the round of 16, they have lost against Cameroon, after a huge mistake from Higuita.

@KEROVSKII Yep, just checked it and it wasn't offside, the leg of the Colombian player keeps the Yugoslav player onside according to today's rules, back then I believe the rules were even more in favor of the attacking team so this was definitely a wrong call by the linesman.

Micro-details decided whether Yugoslavia would win the title of World champion that year and, consequently, led by a unifying triumph, lead to the calming of tensions in Yugoslav society, which a year later slipped into a bloody war, absolute tragedy and genocide.
I agree with most points but dont talk about words like genocide if youre not familiar with the juridical definitions. There was as much "genocide" in Yug as lraque had massdestruction weaps.

@@almiratlic8323 Nope. They identified only 4k. Rest were bodies brought in from fights around the place to pump up numbers. Its around one promille of total population. No women or children were found amongst victims. There was no "dolus specialis" that a crime needs to have in order for call it gncd.
Yugoslavia always had bad luck missing empty goals easy shots etc probably becuase it was usually much better technically Tham most euro nations that it mentally didn't prepare like germans to kill the game by scoring instead of trying to make beautiful moves
genetically and culturally many are not slavs it is taught in former yugoalsvian school that they are slavs but many are not slavs it has to do with the language which is at least half slavic (rest is a mix of Turkish dominated words) and other also

Yugoslavia was better team and deserved to win,and they not exist any longer now its a 5 different countries. Serbia, Croatia,Bosnia,Macedonia and Slovenia. Croatia is 2nd two times in the raw at the world cup.Serbia got amazing team but lack of international experience and Bosnia is also good. I believe all 3 above would beat Columbia even today

Yugo team, skilful yes. Ruthless killer instinct, NO(on the football pitch I mean). Safet Sišic ‘was’ a class player BUT he should not of been on the squad, he was a liability. Better Osim put on one of the many young guns on the bench. As for Vujovič…. His golden days where over. He too was a liability. Many other younger hungrier players should of/would of done much better for results. Poor Osim most probably was pressured in playing a national balanced side, which was counter productive for winning 🏆 . I mean big fkn deal of there where more Croats or Bosnians or Serbs selected than the others. Putting the best players on the pitch is priority!!! But alas, it wasn’t to bee.
