1. Yuji doesn't have a CT 2. Todo couldn't harm mahito at all, it was all yuji (Todo can't attack the soul) 3. Yuji doesn't have a domain expansion 4. Yuji was already badly hurt physically (after choso's fight) and mentally (nanami, kugisaki's deaths) This fight was only fair. He needed that help to even the fighting grounds

Mahito really did deserve everything he got, but man if it wasn't and isn't a slog to watch/read Jujutsu Kaisen without him or Gojo around. They were kind of the backbone for the best and most interesting parts of the series and it just doesn't feel right not having either of them there.
