Nice build out and I applaud you for being able to live in such a condensed space. Logistical question: so you obviously had tools to put all this together and I presume furniture and the associated living “clutter” that an apartment collects. What do you do with this sort of stuff now? Thanks for sharing your experience!
I sold all the clutter last summer when I moved into a Tacoma. I kept it minimilistic ever since then. I have basic hand tools for this project. Chop saw , jig saw, level and skillsaw!
I've seen hundreds of build videos, and this is one of the most appealing for a few reasons: 1. Nice use of the shelf units and drawers built into the space, with light colored paint inside 2. bed low enough so you could sit on it upright 3. flip up counter for cooking. Overall, I think you did a great job with wood, paint, and space. Looks comfortable for car camping for one, adventuring, etc. I will subscribe and watch more of your videos.
It looks really nice. One thing I would suggest and maybe you already have one since you didn't show much of the outside of the vehicle is a 8'x6' awning for the side. I have one to go on my blazer which I plan to mount this spring. That would give you a little protection outside when you are in the back country. However, I did like your build none the less. Keep on Adventuring.
I like it !! You did a great job too- Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures AND cooking videos, thank you ! P.S. I respect your forward thinking about saving money and building out your truck etc. You got skills !
2 suggestions if you haven't done them already. cut a cover plate for the backside of your wiring area. 2nd- tie that battery down so it doesn't move around on you. you may even want to add a 2nd battery down there.
You might check out “Matt the Designer” channel for an inexpensive way to use your sunroof space with some USB fans for added ventilation. With propane inside, adding a carbon monoxide detector might be another good idea. Nice seeing your build come together. 👍
Co2 detectors are installed! Ever since the diesel heater I made sure to take all precautions with exhaust etc. I do have USB fans I use with the windows cracked. Ventilation is real good so far but roof fan vent might be in the works before summer starts to boil
Absolutely LOVE this. I would so love to do something similar for my daughter (long story) but have zero skill... in fact, I'm thinking less than zero and even less knowledge. I'm in Northern Utah as well and boy... cold nights for sure. Sleeping bags alone in a vehicle are brutal. You look very comfy in your arrangement and it looks very cozy. My "shell" that I'm clueless on is a 2003 dodge grand caravan. 🤦♀️
Good use of space. Keep the fridge, get a 9 or 10 buss 100 watt solar panel for the roof. You already have everything else to set it up except a charge controler and the panel. On a Suburban with a roof rack a solar panel properly installed wont be that noticeable from eye level
Ps: Under the hood makes a great place for the diesel tank. May have to modify the fender splash shield some ... but worth it. Just pull up to gas pump, lift the hood and no more diesel smell on the inside of vehicle
I am thinking about camping in my 99 k2500. I don't know about you, but I just need a place to sleep, and a bathroom. I can eat anywhere, anyway. I'm not going to poop behind a tree, or at a truck stop at 6am. HA! You have a very creative stealth camper!
On the bedside of your Yukon, u can mount a radiator fan to exhaust heat or cool the inside using a reversible switch. Just an idea that can work for u. other than that grwat build 🙂👍🏾
@@RenegadeRickJames it's a hack version than paying for a maxxair or the other brand plus no cutting of the roof of the Yukon or any vehicle with side and rear windows
@@corybenge1639 rear windows pop outward, u can place rigid foam cut to shape of the window and u cut out the shape of the fan, use a nominal switch ( not sure of spelling so pardon me on that ) to change speed and the direction of the fan. Hope the idea can help🙂👍🏾.
My 6 year old daughter, Ainsley, said during your video “this is so much better than calling my friend Olivea”. She also said she really likes your bed and she likes your dog. My 5 year old son, Dayne, said he loves your car! And wants to know what you do about water?
Hey there! Tell the little ones I say hello 👋 water jugs for water. Thank you for the great comment. This was a lot of work! Best of all tho, I been living in it a few days and can not be more grateful for this change in lifestyle. The build has been well thought out and really paying off now that I'm full-timing
You have a great set up but honestly this is great for camping and trails , as far as living in it I hope it doesn’t affect your mental health cause as much time that you can spend outside doing things eventually this is where you’ll be for a long time . I wish you the best .
@@RenegadeRickJames You are welcome, I might have to call on you to set up my future Overlander Toyota truck. Haven't decided on either a 4runner or a Highlander.
Put a lot 400-800 watts of solar on ur roof to future proof. Your inverter is not too much maybe too little because u will live full time so a microwave is good. Also ur Apicool cooler make it into freezer then.
Been looking for a setup for my SUV and after watching hundreds of videos I came across one design that I like and this is the second one. Thank you for sharing this so now I need to decide which one will be easier to build and cheapest . Maybe I'll incorporate the 2 designs into one. Who knows. But I like your easy bed setup. I just wish you gave more detail on the build like how you installed the flooring. Still great build though. 😊
nice build, and great use of space. I've wondered how much extra room I would get removing that rear side trim like you did. and removing the second row opened a ton of space! great job. How is it working out?
Love your build, just subbed. I just started a conversion on a 96 K2500 Suburban and this helps a lot. Curious about the bed, can you sit on it like a sofa, mine is so close to the ceiling that I have to keep the bed on the floor without a platform.
I LIKE IT! .. I've been on the fence .. Burbon/XL build at 1st & later add a 6x10 Cargo & use the truck to tow & store .. HOW DID U VENT THE HEATER?? thanks 4 Ur share!
Heater was vented out through the floor and out back by the bumper. Had to drill a hole for the heater to seal to the floor. Thanks for leaving a comment!
really...nice design an build. i can dig it... i have a 06 denali and looking to do the same... this summer. Any suggestions at all would be appreciated
Your mattress will mold, u can see already the water signs on the wood from the condensation of your body. You must cut holes into the wood for air circulation or better, when you stand up, move books, woodblocks or somethingunder the mattress to get it elevatad so that it can dry out during the day. You also have to hang your duvets or lift them up for same reason.
