Dinger are great for 8ft of water. I love the slow presentation fall and gives time for bass to come check it out also stronger and last longer, other then that then the Senko is better. Reminder Dinger are great for not just shallow but then its a hard bite like cold fronts or fall season. Remember that slow fall from the Dinger can attract bass from farther distance and gives them more time.

I like both. I caught around 5 fish on a watermelon YUM in a couple hours. YUM has the better price and durability while Senko is heavier which allows me to catch it farther. Though right now I use senkos more. I like the notch in the YUM that make it more compatible with Texas rig. I am skeptical of the wobble makes a difference.

That slight wobble on the fall with senkos is what makes them special and no other senko style bait seems to do it. Yes, Senkos are pricy. Yes, they're very soft and aren't as durable. But they've earned their reputation and they just flat out work. On days with the worst conditions, on pressured fish, you name it. Don't get me wrong, other senko baits like dingers and even bass pro branded Senkos work too, but I've used Yamamoto Senkos for decades now, and they've never let me down. Green Pumpkin w/ black flake, Watermelon w/ Red Flake, and Black & Blue. I don't need anything else.

Dingers are good if you are on a budget or are looking for a soft plastic to throw in addition to another bait. But senkos are much softer, which is more good than bad because you get more action with a senko on the fall. You also get a much better hookup ratio when texas rigging due to the softness. I usually go with senkos.

@turkey2003

Its funny people saying the senko has better movement and wiggles on the way down and whatnot. But is that what bass want? Do they notice it? I see no difference fishing senkos, dingers, stick-o or any other brand. I tried them all and fish 7 days a week. The biggest difference I seen is bass is likely to hit baits it hasn't seen before. If it's been caught on a senko before it's less likely to bite a senko next time. So using a different brand than everyone else in pressured waters will help. The senko being more expensive means less fishermen use it, so that means less bass have been caught and released on one.

From someone who has spent 100's on stick baits, I'll take the Dinger. No question that the fall rate and wiggle with the senko is better, but for 3x the price, it's not worth it. In the same evening two weeks ago, I caught a 2.5lb largemouth on a senko, then a 7.1lb on a dinger. I think that pretty much sums it up.

dingers always work for me in the small backwoods ponds i kayak fish from. the senko just hasn't really worked for me in them, while the dinger is almost assured to catch fish. but! the senko seems to work much better in creeks. on the whole, i'd rather have the dinger because of price and working better (for me) in ponds. but i'll always keep a couple bags of senko around. that is compared to the 8 or 10 bags of dingers, but still.

The senko may have slightly more shimmy to it, but it falls much faster. In some situations that may be helpful, but I'd wager that for the average bass fisherman just throwing the worm around shallow cover without any additional weight, the slow fall of the yum Dinger would outweigh the slightly better action of the senko

I use Yum Dingers when the bite is on but, when they get really picky I go to a Senko and make sure I rig it right- which is something In see a lot of ppl miss. A Senko has a taper on one side that needs to be turned right to get the maximum wiggle on the fall- it's subtle but it's there and it makes a difference. Also- making sure you hook right in the center, if you're wacky rigging- will make it fall straight down and wiggle all the way to bottom- if you're off to one side or the other it will fall a foot or so then one side drops lower than the other and it planes out, sort of rocking back and forth until it settles- no good.

1. Senko for shimmy/ better action & faster fall. 2. YUM for slow fall, durability, & affordability. Both are great baits and have similar actions. It’s all opinionated & what baits work better for different applications.

All these debates on baits,hooks,reels etc etc, to me whatever works and it all depends on the weather and location. Ive caught large mouth up to 7lbs using a vintage zebco rod and shimano reel (3:! gear ratio) then I decided to go hight tech with tatula rod and reel and all I catch is 1-3 pounders while everybody else is catching 4 and up.. I went back to ace and retured those darn expensive gear lol

Put a small nail weight in the head of a dinger and rig wacky. All it takes and the dinger has a ton of action for 1/3 of the cost. I use an old ring and can go 10 fish before I change my bait.

I’ve been fishing one lure years before this stuff came out, Lucky Lucy. It’s 1.25 and can last through 6-10 catches. I’m about to buy the Sanko just to have something different.

Senko has more salt and the bass are holding to the bait longer so it is more forgiving for first time fishermen and the Dinger has more rubber and it is tougher and it last longer. It is getting a little too pricey for Yamamoto but it is the best bait out there, it still is cheaper than buying a real shinners.

Not a fair representation. The senkos have a lot of salt added to them and bait sent. At the end of meijers fishing season. You can find senkos in sale. I bought 20 packs for a 1.50 a piece.

Senkos break easier because they have salt in them. The salt causes the fish to bite and not let go.
@JayKumarsBassBlaster

Yes and they sink faster. I would say salt in general gets fish to bite it, not sure of the nt letting go part vs scent...

Jean Choquette that's not at all what Thomas said. He said that the lure that catches fish after fish without wearing down will be out fished by the lure that breaks easiest. That makes NO sense. It's totally contradictory.

Rez he said the one that breaks the easiest will outfish the stronger one ! The stronger one doesnt have a action as good as the other one so you wont get as much bite even if it last longer imo

@Studio2770 6 лет назад
Jean Choquette but he's saying that the stronger one will catch fish after fish. I've caught plenty of fish on both. The difference I feel is the weight. Going back to what you said, you're saying action is superior despite the stronger one catching fish after fish. No sense.

The senko in my opinion is made of better quality plastic. The reason the senko broke easier then the yum dinger is because yum dingers are COATED in slime so they’re really slippery. The senkos are more flexible so they have a better action.

Does anybody boil their soft plastics in water for half a minute to make them softer or restore their shape? Maybe boiling the YUM will make them softer and give them a bit more action.

Fish don't care about durability they react to action. And for the record Yum dingers are made by Big Bite and the same bait is packaged under several different manufacturers, some with proprietary colors, many cheaper than the YUM; Jann's Netcraft, Cabelas, ect.....look for the tell-tale "hook slot".
@nickspencer3132
@nickspencer3132 6 лет назад
Yea but I care about durability, One pack of senkos will last me about 5 fish but one pack of dingers will last me about 10 fish, senkos only has more action when wacky but otherwise, there is no pint in buying senkos.

1. Use an “o” ring On your wacky rig, should be a no brained at this point. 2.its not always about the fall rate,but, the “quiver” on the way down. I’ll stick with my yamasenkos.... But I will say, for t-rigging with a light weight or Ned rigging, the dinger will work equally as good.

Like others, I can’t bring myself to spend $8 on them, especially when I hear they rip EASIER. I could go through a bag of them in an hour at my local pond. I use the yum swimmin dingers more than any other bait, period. They never fail me. Even if I’m not getting anything on any other bait/lure, I throw one on and kill the skunk. It’s my go-to and actually a crutch at this point.

Pear Fishing you are full of shit and and you know it, stupid people believe fish actually sit there and taste the plastic, you can argue they will keep in on their mouth longer before the spit it out, bass eat anything and I mean anything, as long as they see it, plus most strikes are reaction, stop the bull shit, next time you think you're catching more fish with your expensive bait switch to a a cheap one and then you will see how the fish still bite just as much, as long as fish is there you'll catch fish if they aren't there you will not catch a fish, and if anybody is new watching this then reading my comment don't fool yourself into believing the more expensive baits are better, for a third of the price of a yamamoto crap you can have three times the fun, and I got 11 pound bass hanging on my wall that I caught with zoom pumpkin color worm on clearance from Walmart so shut the fuk up dude.

My conclusion: senkos are more expensive than dingers but both have their advantages. Senkos have more salt content and sink faster, making them a great candidate for wacky rigging so that you can cover more water. The high salt content has a huge drawback, however, in the fact that more of the mass is devoted to salt and not plastic, making the senko rip much easier than the dinger. The senko can only survive a few fish, whereas the dinger can survive many fish without being torn apart. The dinger’s low salt content has a drawback as well, however, because more of its mass is dedicated to the rigid plastic, hindering the action of the bait. In the action contest, the senko definitely wins. If you’re looking for a purchase suggestion, it depends on what you do; do you wacky rig a lot? Use a senko. Do you Texas rig a lot? Use either. There are many variables to your purchase decision, but if you’re looking for a middle-ground between the two, I’d suggest the Bass Pro Shops Stik-o as it has the great action of the senko combined with the durability of the dinger at a good price. If you don’t have a bass pro shops nearby or can’t order online, go for strike king’s stickbait. From my experience, it’s a little worse than the bass pro shops stik-o, but it’s a good choice if that’s all you have. But remember, fish bite all of these lures! There aren’t any huge deciding factors that go into purchasing stickbaits other than the color and the price! If a fish will bite a stickbait, it’ll likely bite a stickbait no matter what brand you’re using.
