Want to become a better fisherman? There is no better way than to head underwater and study bass behavior! Come along as Matt teaches how to get the most out of plastic worms while studying footage of actual bass eating a ned rig, dropshot, shaky head, and texas rig!
We learn a ton about bass behavior when we head underwater, but we also learn about the lures we're using. From above, a ned rig doesn't look like much but when it hits the bottom it comes to life, and its obvious bass can't resist them! Did you see any stand out baits in today's video? Perhaps it was the way that Smallie Smasher shakes at even the lightest touch on a dropshot, or the way the shaky head sways on its way to the bottom.
Below you'll find links to some of our favorite baits from each category. We've included our best colors and rigging components for each. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

When I was 8-9 years old my dad taught me how to fish a plastic worm, he made me count 12 seconds between twitches, and those twitches were 2-3 very light taps....amazing how many bass I caught using that technique throughout my life, and crazy how few were caught going any faster.
@acuailtrash7320
@acuailtrash7320 Год назад
Fish it that slow huh… that’s crazy.. how many casts to you do a minute then? Wouldn’t it be hard to cover any water?
@ansoncraig9525
@ansoncraig9525 Год назад
Thank you. More insight than the whole video. Actually giving a time for how long to let it sit helps way more than just saying, let it sit.
@sheastewart7608
@sheastewart7608 Год назад
@@acuailtrash7320 well, get your bait out into an area that you think the fish are at, work it slow there and if you feel it is out of the area of the fish, just reel in and re-cast. But if you're unsure of the structure and cover at a lake you may be better off with few casts and working slowly all the way in to get a feel for the body of water.
@thedawsonian9094

@@acuailtrash7320 you’re not really trying to cover water with plastic worms. Typically best for targeting certain areas of water (cover, drop offs, grass, etc.)

Matt, I don't think we thank you and Tim enough!!!!!! Love you guys all way in Cincinnati! Been a subscriber sense like 2015 or 14 I think was 14. I'm 56 years old, been fishing my whole life, grew up with a tributary of Ohio River right in front of my house,( really like 1/4 mile away), so I been in front of water with large mouth, smallies ,and alot spots! Rivers full of spots! I mean spotted bass, not fishing spots lol. But just wanted to say thank you to both of you big time. Like I said been bass fishing along time, but you guys are great at like this video at slowing down, what I got the most today, slow down when worm fishing, because we will get going to fast all time trying cover water. So ty for all you guys do, love product videos, rods, reels, baits, you guys figured it out early in you tube, and it's been a good ride!!!!!!! Ty and GOD bless you and your family's!!!!!!!!!

I love this video. My 9yo son just got bit by fishing…so this dad is trying to soak in the complexities of this sport so he can catch fish and have fun and not be discouraged. My favorite thing to say is, doesn’t matter if we catch fish, we are spending time with each other. He just bought his first rod and real, I bought him his first couple but he ponied up his own money to buy one himself. That’s commitment!

This has been an very informative video about the methods of using different plastics baits! I've just taken up fishing and I've watched a lot of videos from different people onhow to fish. However the underwater footage of how the baits are being used and how the fish react to them is mcu more educational . It all becomes clear now why fishing slowly and methodically is more successful.

Crystal, get someone to show you how to fish the plastic worm. I’ve used them for 45 years. I like the scented ones, or can add anise oil scent if you want. You may be fishing where there are few bass. Plastic worms are excellent bass catchers. Some days a spinner bait is best, other days, a crank bait and other days plastic worms are best. All of these are fish catchers. I have caught many bass over years. My best day was a 9 plus pound, a five pound, an 8 pound and several smaller bass and I lost a huge bass that day, fishing in South Georgia and that day I was fishing only plastic worms. I’m 72 years old and never had another day like that day.

@@martinmaddox5315 Hello Martin! Thank you for your comments. Yes, I believe you're right about getting someone to show me how to fish plastics. I've not been able to get out much this year, but I have some up with a few ideas on how to trigger a few strikes and will try them out when I can get to the pond. I have heard what you say about plastic worms. I've had many days where I'd catch 30-70 bass believe it or not on cranks and spinners or flies. Many small ones needless to say though, but many. I often go fishing alone. I don't have any friends left that like to fish. Sorry you lost that big one! I do know I'm fishing in the right spots - have seen bass pulled out of these places I fish many times. I've fished right close to some of the guys catching 'em like crazy but I've not had a single hit the same time. Not unusual though. I just haven't had much success on plastic worms. After seeing this vid, I'll give it a shot as they say here. Thanx again for your input! Best of luck to you on future trips!

Sir,I can say that your advice about slowing the action of the worm down, to just let it be still, is absolutely correct. This is something that I struggled with for a long time,a person thinks that you need to keep that action going but it's not true,it took me a long time to figure that out. It also applys to a lot of different lures and baits

Nice Job with your video. Very educational. I 3D print my own bass lures and enjoy each fish I catch with them.

Excellent 101 video 👍 you guys keep it interesting and simple for the novice and even the more experienced angler. You mentioned keeping the worm above the weeds. Great tip because it’s amazing how many small baitfish are on top of the weeds., just hanging out waiting to be eaten 😂👍

Ned rig and texas rigged senko is my 2 favorite lures and you are 100% correct with letting it sit. if u work it to fast they wont react most times

Just started fishing plastic worms. 1st 2 cast on a wacky rig got me 2 largemouth and then I tried the texas rig and got 3 bites but only landed 1 more. Watching these RU-vid videos the past week taught me everything and it I actually caught some! I cant wait to try these other methods. I grabbed up some ned rigs but haven't tried them yet. I want to try the flick and shake wacky rig also. Thanks!

I've been catching bass on soft plastics for years but have struggled so far this year. Nice to have reminders of things I know. I needed to hear someone tell me to SLOW DOWN because that's what caught them last year and I have been working them faster this year. Great video.

This video is very informative, I have been fishing bass for quite a while and they clearly show you how to catch bass on a regular basis. I am very biased because I prefer the Ned head rig, have done to Wacky and the numerous other plastic baits the Ned head rig is a killer they cannot resist when all else fails I go right to the Ned head and it saves the day all the time for me never fails the z- man plastic lineup as far as I am concerned is the deadliest plastic on Ned head out there hands down the best.
