So , in a sense, he has the capacity and other gotei captain also acknowledge that.

Not gonna lie, by process of elimination Yumichika has to be the one who does the paperwork. Kenpachi definitely doesn’t care to do it, Yachiru was 9 times outta 10 either goofing off or just with Kenny as he fights people. Ikkaku emulates his captain in being somebody who doesn’t care about paperwork and only ever wants to fight. Yumichika is the only one I can see being responsible enough to actually do it.

Notice how when Ikaku got his ass kicked by zombie toshiro, yumochika was unleashing his true zanpakto, rurirokujaku but got interupted. He was ready to reveal his true zanpakto to everybody to protect ikaku, what a bro

Personal canon is that Yunichika didnt necessarily pretend to be dumb, but that he was limiting himself to fit into his Squad whose members all consider kido to be weakest and most cowardly way of fighting. Because of this limiter, he wasn't able to express his kido and reiatsu based talents before, which made him comically weak compared to rest of the cast, but as he got more comfortable with his position and trust in his fellow squadmates grew, he started to express his powers, leading Yumichika to look "smart" compared to what he was before.

How does Yumichika know how those bombs work?? That's because his shikai ability is absorbing reiatsu. It means that it is within his specialty, of course he can read the same stuff better than most people.

I wish Ikkaku and Yumichika get their time to shine cuz they've had their moments before plus they have good potentials. However they never use their potentials anymore and are reduced to normal foot soldiers to show off how strong the enemies and captains are compared to average seated officers

The one who does the paperwork for 11th division is none other than Yumichika. This was stated earlier in the series. Since Zaraki just don't give a fuck, Yachiru is always playing around and Ikkaku also dont give a fuck, so Yumichika had to stepped in.

He's always been smart and strong. Sure the fight against Ganju was goofy but in the same arc he fought and defeated Hisagi by using his true shikai without people noticing and Vs Charlotte he was smart enough to work out that he wouldn't be found out using his shikai Vs her in that black hole area. He's also kinda smart in the Ikkaku flashback, being the person who just kinda always spoke sense. It's not surprise that he's not only smart but also competent in a lot of different fighting styles including kido. It's more surprising that he actually uses kido in this arc and was about to use his true shikai against zombie Hitsugaya before getting KO'd. I wonder how effective his shikai would be against Hitsugaya honestly, it seems like the kind of weapon with very little in the way of limits.

He was always that guy though, pretty underrated. He's insane for defeating Hisagi way since the Soul Society Arc. The things that only limit him is his attitude toward showing his capabilities and his sword. I think that's one of the reaosn why he's no yet unto discovering his bankai

Maybe this understanding in Bambi situation could be an affect of his zanpaktou since it is based on kido therefore Yumichika has a better perseption of kido and reitsu compared to others. That might be the reason how fast he discovred Bambi's deal.

Id say he's always been smart too. He just downplays himself, it's part of his character. He lies to his zanpacto about the name just cause she doesn't like it and it makes him weaker. He's the 5th seat when he should be the 4th because he doesn't like the number. So from the start he shows a high zanpacto intelligence and also shows a lot of sleight of hand. Half his fights are happening before the swords are ever drawn. He's really an underappreciated Character. Me and my brother til this day debate about how strong he really is. His zanpacto is really op.

He’s always been smart but because he’s in squad 11 he wants to use physical power to win. In the TYBW arc he finally allows himself to use his intelligence to win instead of just raw power. He even thinks his banki is disgraceful during the fake Karakura arc because of the squad he’s in.

Yumichika handles admin roles. Hes always been intelligent and having a deep understanding of reiatsu is needed to be proeficient at kido. Its why Shinigamis like Rukia, Momo and Nanao are great at kido and guys like Omaeda are poor at it. Yumichika always hides his cunning self and kido skills out of pride

you can interpret everything differently. the rescue arc you can also say, team 11 was just fking around and having having fun to the point of treason. beside ikaku, they wanst trying to kill anyone. and also he knew with his bankai is automatic gg. up until this new season. the only person we seen go max effort was ichigo. the man was a slave. during the job of the soul reapers fight the main vallian. so we didn't really see max effort imo. if team 11 didn't mind going bankai, then them early fights would have been easy. they may not be the brightest bunch but they willingly and gleefully follow kenpachi. they all love fight to the point of hating there bankai. so it's stupid to believe there stupid when if come to fight and instincts

He is smart and strong you put both of those together and he upstages his best friend which it's obvious he is avoiding doing on purpose. His shiki it's so powerful it was mistaken for a Bankai so yes he purposely hides his true power and overall knowledge and skills so that he does not upstage his best friend who is obviously inferior to him as a soul reaper.

The guy is a Kido master, his Zanpakutou is Kido based as well...meaning he is more in tune with reishi manipulation innately. It would be wrong for a Kido master to not understand the properties of reishi at a glance... Shinji and Komamura aren't Kido masters. It's like comparing the knowledge of a professional F1 racer and a doctor. If your standard for intelligence is a doctor, then you wouldn't appreciate the F1 racer, but it doesn't mean the F1 racer is clueless about physics and whatnot. He's in his element when it comes to reishi based abilities, and Quincies are exactly on his radar. Kinda like how Nanao become more useful against Quincies, even Jugram couldn't bypass her shields easily.
