It is by far the best bankai design, but sadly the bankai has a major weakness, the user cannot move or else they'll shatter into pieces, like an ice sculpture

Ichimonji (Black ink) is his shikai, hence he activates it by using a verb and the sword's name, his bankai is Shinichi Shirafude Ichimonji (White ink).

Ichibe was there with Soul King even before the creation of Soul Society, Human World or Hueco Mundo. The rest of the Squad 0 members were recruited by Ichibei from the Gotei 13, even earlier than the time when Yhwach attacked 1000 years ago.

Ichibei existed way before Gotei even was a thing and he's possibly more than a Million Years old considering that he's even older than the Soul King .... Oetsu created Zanpakuto so he also predates the Gotei, Kirinji is kinda debatable,but Senjumaru and Kirio were members of the Gotei before they were Hired to be a Member of Squad Zero.... In Light Novels a Shinigami named Kuruyashiki(the 7th Kenpachi) was offered to be a member of Squad Zero because of his Strong AF Bankai,but he refused

ichibei along with soul king existence predates other shinigamis before the world was divided into three realms (human, hueco mundo and soul society)...he created squad 0 to "protect" soul king after they removed his limbs the rest of the members were much younger than him and were recruited by him to join his squad oetsu is probably even older than yamamoto and was not part of the OG gotei 13 since he's created zanpaktou but the other 3 were originally from Gotei 13 before they were recruited

@@yo-2029 true, mask was very strong. That's why I said he "could have" defeated mask. I think that even if he didn't explain his Bankai, James would have kept praising mask to the point where he evolves or something ( like he did against renji, where his costume evolved to being black and he got stronger) and he could have defeated rose. But still, at least rose wouldn't have lost so easily.
