This is the best performance of this concerto I’ve heard. Totally mind blowing. I’ve only recently discovered Yundi Li. That’s due to RU-vid which is fantastic!
It was the cool Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 that ended the victory. Of course, even before the final round, he was almost certain to win, but in the final round, he showed once again that he deserved to win.
The album was somehow too polished, I'm not sure how this could be a critic, but there was an urgency in this live performance that was so magical, it was the esprit in the hall that day
Years have passed since Yundi won the Chopin piano competition in 2000 but he remains the most beautiful interpreter of Chopin, quite unsurpassed by any other pianist. He owns Chopin. Bravo Yundi
@@2MinuteHockey If you really think that Rousseau has any best interpretation I'm going to assume you use substances. Rubenstein has excellent interpretation of Chopin but Yundi is just unearthly, its heavenly as if god selected Yundi to be the reincarnate of Chopin himself.
Rousseau has probably made more money on YT than Kissin in halls if that matters, which it doesnt Rousseau plays it with a pride I don't hear other's give it, including Kissin @@eventhorizonsingularity
His sounds were always singing even while/after the notes sound. Amazing, especially 2nd movement. Let us compare with the other winners' the 1st concertos of the same competition of all time.
Again, I got goose bumps! Reserved but dazzling or vice versa. Made me imagine that Chopin would have played it like this at Pleyel. No need to remind that Yundi is the reincarnation of Frederic Chopin, for sure.
Li got the classic Chopin touch missing from the more recent winners. Now people just play it faster and louder. These people really stick to the industrial noise such as rock and hippop instead.
Realmente maravilloso!!/
42:03 I just love the face of: stupid people shut up, the concerto hasn’t finished yet and you cracked on my mood... I so badly hate people who started yelling and clapping before the conductor ends, same on opera.
People held their breath the entire time during this concerto. They could not hold it any longer upon hearing the last note (on the piano) of this legendary performance.
Still the best. Edited to add: unfortunately I just found quite a few videos of him playing piano very badly in public in China. He has obviously squandered his talent since 2000, substituting gaudy showmanship for solid musicianship. These performances were full of missed notes, botched rhythms, bizarre dynamics, etc. Horrible. Whatever he once was as a classical musician, he no longer is.
Online posting is not reliable, as Audio Channel can be edited.. if Someone try to defame him, they certainly know what to do. I hardly paid much attentions to him, as he was relatively "low key", in comparison to Lang Lang, but Now, I am addicted to his Performances! I very much love his interpretations of the music. He is indeed one of the best Pianist this world has ever had. Far better than many well-known names. I hope he can recover from recent setbacks, and come back even Better !
Totally opposite experience from you, I just became his music lover because I listened his recent years performance in concert hall not from some edited video clip from his casual performance. You should listen or watch his concert not clips. Then you will know he is getting better and better.
