Wonderful playing! Reminds me of Northern Indian Music... thanks for sharing

The Indian music we hear today both northern and southern karnatic, originates from Persia. When the Persians invaded India the first time, they brought a system of music that was adapted by the native Indian people. Indian people actually have managed to preserve the ancient Persian music more so than the Persians themselves. The southern people of India actually continued to develop the musical system in quite a pure way. The northern Indian people lost their musical way when the moors invaded.

I have recorded the most of the concerts and workshops with an HD video camera and especially Yurdal's performance with Dolby sound. I will soon start uploading those after some editing/conversion.

Were you seated on my left with the iphone? You researched the festival schedule for me? If so, what a small world. :) I will post the other videos soon. I just posted one of each of the 6 oudists to test the waters. If there are no complains from the oudists, I will be glad to post more. Are you on mikeouds.org?

Is it the taksim that Yurdal Tokcan dedicated to one of his friend who died before the festival ?

i dont see any frets on Oud as you would on guitar and that helps to tell you where to land your finger tips. so how does one learn/understand where to place the finger tips? can any one help answer please?
@AlifLamMiim
@AlifLamMiim 4 года назад
Practice You learn how much the space between the fingers is for a half step and whole step, and use a combination of muscle memory and your ear. The space between semitones only changes once you get very high up the fingerboard, which is generally quite rare. It’s not that difficult once you get the hang of it.

Oud/Ud looks like the Armenian one, in between the Turkish and Arabic sizes. Taksim is nice sound like husseni.
@anaphylastiks

actually more nahavent or byati ,
@AlifLamMiim

This is in Suzidil I believe Very dark Maqam, not Bayati or Nahawand in any way
@anaphylastiks
@anaphylastiks 4 года назад
@@AlifLamMiim true, suzdil I thought was more happy not dark. Maybe we are confused
@AlifLamMiim
@AlifLamMiim 4 года назад
Chris Dealny Do you know the notes for Suzidil? It’s stacking two Hijazkar Ajna on each other with the root of A, and playing with those notes around it give that kind of dark feeling.
@anaphylastiks
@anaphylastiks 4 года назад
@@AlifLamMiim I don't know the notes, but just compared with a Cemil bay Taksim.
