@@Azal827 I think he is, with Yuri being the second runner up. Both Loid and Yuri actually had to be permanently removed from popularity polls so other characters have any chance of winning. Both of those characters were inducted into the "Tales hall of fame" just so people would shut up about Yuri and Loid not being on popularity polls, if memory serves right

honestly, he is the most interesting of protagonists. In jrpgs, protagonists tend to be more like Flynn, but Yuri being a bit of a complicated mess kinda makes him feel more human, and i think all of us can really connect with him, especially how he doesn't see things as black and white. oh, and he's got a sense of humor, so that helps.

I know Troy baker voices so many characters and I should know what his voice sounds like, yet everytime I figure out someone is voiced by him I have the same exact feeling of getting chopped in the chest or something
@@michaeleverett1376 @Michael Everett Bandai Namco used to make popularity polls in Japan for Tales of characters, Yuri received too many votes in 2010, 2011 and 2012 so they moved his character to the "Hall of Fame" so other characters could receive more votes, they don't make those popularity polls anymore (as long as I know) but there were a few after he was banned

This is among the reasons why I love Yuri as a protagonist. Not only is he pretty looking badass, but he's got a lot of great qualities. Anti hero and unafraid to go against rules but still heroic and an idealist. An experienced kind of hero. Someone who loves the fight. Truly one of the best protagonists there is out there.
Yuri was such a great character. I loved his and Estelle’s relationship in that they had a deep connection, but it clearly wasn’t romantic in nature. In many ways, he was more like a mentor to her, similarly with how he was with Karol, though far more subtle.
I feel like Yuri is the type of person that's simply not into romance with anyone. I mean, there's the occasional flirt with Judith, especially when they're alone together, but it never really goes anywhere. I can picture him a few decades older as a lone wanderer type of guy. Going around the world doing jobs for brave vesperia and dishing out punishment to evildoers who are beyond the scope of the law.
Yesss, it was so cool to see! Honesty all of the character relationships in this game were amazing and they all really balance eachother out. My personal favorite character(s) have to be either Yuri, Rita, or Zagi (Because hes so insane, lmao). They are all so interesting!
I think what really, REALLY sets Yuri apart from any other Tales protagonist is how good the localization and voice direction was for English. Most JRPGs do not get this level of treatment.
Same!! Within like the first few minutes I was like “he’s such a smart ass, I love him!” XD when he told Estelle that he had pet frogs and shit as a kid and that he’d feed her and take care of her if she got turned into a frog was when he became one of my all time favorite characters period lol.
Speaking as someone who just finished their first run through the game and didn’t even know Troy Baker was the original voice until 2/3 of the way in, I couldn’t make the distinction. Maybe like one or two instances but they both sounded like Yuri to me.
i'll be honest i'm playing Definitive with the Japanese audio since i'm not too used to the new VA change in English but the way George Grant delivered the line at 3:09 is actually amazing LMAO
Ah geez. Vesperia was my first Tales of game, played it when it first came to the switch like, last year... and now all the memories of my playthrough are coming back... what a fantastic game, and Yuri is definitely one of my favorite protagonists... period.
same, Vesperia was my first, I tried abyss but I feel I started with the best entry. i'm now biased towards Vesperia, I even named an animal crossing town Vesperia.
My favorite Tales Of protagonist. His sarcasm and brutal honesty was refreshing compared to the past jrpgs I've played with goody-two-shoes protagonists.
Say what you want about Grant George replacing Troy Baker because the latter wasn't even aware they were doing "The Definitive Edition", but he tries his best at least.

I never played Tales of Vesperia, but I enjoyed this funny video. Ever since I've seen the trailer for Tales of Vesperia getting a Nintendo Switch port, I began to gain a liking for Yuri though watching Super Smash Bros. Ultimate moveset and support videos as well as having Yuri as one of my wanted Bandi Namco reps.
laura denieffe Personally, I just love spamming his Burst and Mystic artes just to accumulate grade during battles. Incidentally the first tales game I ever played was tales of symphonia. When I learned that the games actually give you grades on battle performance, I knew I had to play more of them.
Yuri didn't notice him because of the vase. He only noticed him because Flynn would give him an earful nagging later about the vase as well as breaking and entering if he didn't notice him sooner.
eeehhhhh not really if anyone is the most realistic Tales character (from the Mothership titles), it's Luke from Tales of the Abyss. Overall most realistic Tales of character would probably be Emil from Dawn of the New World
Yuri is so cool, it almost seems he isn't in the right game. Everything looks easy for him , and he is a lot more Savage and violent than anyone. He sees throught every lies, from Patty or the old man. He even get stabbed and is like "oh ok"

XD I love Yuri, I think he's one of my most favorite characters in media. I have the new Vesperia game but I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet sadly. I still love Yuri though!!!! (I do and have watched the movie First Strike though)
