Oh no, we're here to stay. Those of us who feel a simple public apology to Salman Rushdie is really not too much to ask of a man who continues to sing 'Peace Train'. How hard could a categorical condemnation of death sentences upon those guilty of nothing more than exercising their basic human right to free speech actually be for someone who sings such a song? Until he does these things, his repulsive hypocrisy will continue to be trumpeted everywhere he goes.

You should base your criticism more on fact rather than relying upon media hype.After the publication of Rushdie's novel The Satanic Verses, Yusuf Islam, previously known as Cat Stevens, made statements that were interpreted as endorsing the killing of Rushdie. His statements generated criticism from commentators in the West. In response, Yusuf Islam said that some of his comments were "stupid and offensive jokes" made in "bad taste,"[1] while others were merely giving his interpretation of Islamic law but not advocating any action.[2][3] Yusuf Islam also said that later in the same programme he promised to accept the judgment of a British court if it found Rushdie innocent of any crime, blasphemy or otherwise.[1]

In his heyday he could bring a guitar and a stool and with only a little help, entertain a huge venue on Friday night, then fill it again on Saturday. No need for a huge band or laser light show. It's a testament to the impact of his music that he could walk away from music for decades and come back to cheering crowds.

I love his wearing a Cat Stevens T-shirt. Seems to me like a gentle statement of reconciliation, of acceptance. I only bought one Cat Stevens album, Tea for the Tillerman. Didn’t buy any others because I didn’t want to detract from that one. I gave it away to a very good friend who lost her copy but 50 years later I still remember practically every word and every chord of every song. She is still a very good friend.

I would crawl on my knees from coast to coast just to see Cat/Yusuf perform. In 1981 I stowed away on a cargo ship, got offered a deck job, landed in Singapore, got a hold of his music and continued sailing the high seas to his tunes..... those memories of sailing with the Cat, frozen in the cobwebs of my mind for which I offer, much thanks.

Yusuf Cat…I can honestly tell you that EVERY time I have heard this song since a roommate first turned me onto it at school in 10th grade when Tea first came out, it has brought tears to my eyes. From a difficult relationship with my father to being a single father to two wonderful daughters all the way to now having seven amazing grandchildren, every single one of them has sat and listened while I play your song for them on my old Gibson . I wish I had your voice, but more importantly I am thankful to you for giving me this gift that is a constant reminder of the importance of handling the relationships with those we love with love, tenderness, and gentle care. la religion no es el problema, sino las personas. Los asesinos y maniacos vienen en cualquier nacionalidad, etnia, religion, partido politico, etc. Ques existan bestias que justifiquen sus actos de violencia a travez del Coran es el malentendimiento que te han vendido ciertos grupos politicos de paises extranjeros, probablemente es mas facil comentar en contra del islam que darte el tiempo de hablar con un muculman y te explique de que va su religion en verdad. Hay muchas interpretaciones retorcidas que dicen que debes matar a un infiel pero se contradicen completamente con los demas valores que se enseñan en el 98% restante de esas escrituras.

algo mas para tener en cuenta, si eres cristiana o conoces ciertas historias del antiguo testamento, te das cuenta en que se narran batallas en donde el pueblo elegido de Dios se enfrenta a sus enemigos y que incluso Dios les apoyaba para vencer, que en terminos exactos les dio el arma (el arca de la alianza) para derribar muros y asi poder entrar a la ciudad y asesinarlos a todos. Si nosotros fuesemos igual de imbeciles que los de ISIS, podriamos decir exactamente lo mismo, que vamos a matar infieles en el nombre de Dios, eso ya se hizo en la cruzadas de la edad media solo con el fin de que los europeos pudiesen conquistar mas tierras.Como vez ahora muchos de los que se hacen llamar musulmanes dicen pelear por la voluntad de Alá, pero solo lo hacen por su codicia (territorio, petroleo, dinero, poder, etc)
