Top-level Magic and they can't even pause the game for a moment to rewind the stream and watch him lay down a forest? We have the technology, but I don't understand why they wouldn't use it.

It's a decent angle shoot if you're into that sort of thing.

Lots of respect to Yuta. Willy ends up making top 8 and would not have had a chance if Yuta had not conceded here.

Still don't understand why Yuta went from 19 to 7, maybe read over toxic 4 too fast and thought it was extra damage? If it was an error, it was really bad, as otherwise that last decision would not have been so obvious.

They're playing at the highest level of Magic available, yet they need to deal with clocks, draws and potential forfeits? C'mon man! This tournament only happens once a year. We all have the time to watch until there's a clear winner.

I had to finish the video before I formed a full opinion. But I think its actually great to have the tension of a real tournament. A tournament is nothing without its rules enforcement (much like a game without obeying the rules is playing a different version of the game). I kinda wish Willy didn't ask for a concession, but I think I am just upset because he played an extra land even though they could have just watched the footage to determine it. After he kept asking the same question, I wish a Judge would have asked him to keep better track of his land drops each turn.

1. There is 128 players. It just takes one match each round going for an extra hour and the players would need to play for 7 more hours. That would make the tournament hell for everyone (especially viewers). 2. The players all got here with timers it would be weird to change the rules suddenly (may sometimes affect the metagame).

sorry for the late response, but if you were still wondering this is actually Standard. Some really strong cards in the weakest constructed format right now.

Can someone explain to me why the match ended like this? Thanks.

Players are given 50 minutes to complete their best of 3 match. Both players had a win and in game 3 their time expired. Once time has been called, players are given an additional 5 turns to resolve the game with turn 0 starting with the active player. If at the end of the 5 extra turns there is still no winner, the match is a draw. Edel asks Yuta if he will concede the game because Edel was in a clearly winning position if the game continued. Yuta agreed to concede, so Edel won by concession. This matters because both players have 3-3 records and a draw would knock both of them out of top 8 contention, whereas with one of them winning only one would be knocked out. Yuta conceding knocked him out of the running but gave Edel a chance to continue in the tournament with a shot at top 8.

You guys need to fix your draw circumstances, its just introducing a way for already toxic community to be more toxic, its garbage that you act like you don't have time for them to finish what would of been 1 more round. Hasbro is already pissing a lot of people off, change your dumb rules and salvage what reputation u have left.
