wanted to include the demo boss as well, but didn't have footage of it. If I wanted to record it again I had to download 80gb of Gaiden + IW demo lmaoo
@@hayxsaka8042 Hence why I said Yamai was the 2nd ever boss you fight 5 times in a game. Kuze was the first. I guess you could call it the third if you want to count Majima Everywhere, but that’s not main story content so I don’t think it applies here.
Another thing that is interesting is the Yamai battle themes. Before the club fight, the theme has a weird and sinister tone (B minor) to it. But during and after the club fight, it has a more neutral tone (C major), meaning that his intentions are much more convoluted than it actually is, and that maybe his intentions are either becoming or actually pure.
I have to say I'm almost obsessed with how good of a character he is. Reminds me of how I felt about Majima when I first played yakuza 1 on ps2 all those years ago. I really hope he is playable in y9 or at least is relevant from here on out.
@@diccchocolate416 what are you talking about? Outside Yamai being great, RGG reverted back to terrible Yakuza 5-6 writing levels. We literally see Majima, Saejima and Daigo for 5-20 minutes in each game for the past 4 games just as fanservice.
he is so cool, as i played the game he grew on me so much, immediately became one of my favorite characters in all of Yakuza because of his backstory and character growth
Plus Yamai's actually a former member of Tojo Clan. The same yakuza organization belongs to our previous yakuza protagonist (Kiryu,Ichiban,Daigo,Majima, Saejima) and he is actually knows Ichiban and Kiryu respectivily due to their each reputation and legendary status. And he is former member of the Tabata Family subsidiaries of the Tojo Clan.
I honestly don't know why did Ichiban never used his Bat against Yamai in Action Sequences, it honestly would look really cool seeing a sword fight, but with Bat and Crowbar instead
It really is weird how they love showing Ichiban's bat in other cutscenes where he has to be a "hero" since it is his Dragon Quest sword, but they never fully utilize it in fights. At least with people who have weapons.
@@SteelBallRun1890 yeah, it's like making Ichiban's hero bat looks like an imagination, yet they show it that it was real during the earlier chapter Meanwhile, Nanba and Zhao are shown in cutscenes that they actually did use it during combat
@@MatsuSenpaiiI'm guessing its because for bosses that fight with fists it looks like he's at an advantage swinging a bat or it looks unfair or unheroic? Fair, but with bosses like Sawashiro or Yamai they really should have him use the bat to match their weapon styles.
@@SteelBallRun1890 and yet, it's kinda funny that most of the bosses that Ichiban fights uses weapons Yamai: Crowbar Dwight: Dual Machetes and even Bryce with Dual SMGs and a Sword
I hope they don't forget about him. Too often they just yeet cool antagonists in jail and forget they exist. Bit disappointed Old Man Kuze didn't get a cameo or at least a memory for Kiryu. He's been out for long.
Yamai has more of a shot coming back, Kuze is an actor face model, I know that doesn't mean much since Nanba and Sawashiro came back but Yamai isn't a face model actor, making it way easier to bring him back. Plus, Yokoyama saying he likened Yamai to Ichi's Majima in this game makes me think they leave it open for him to come back if he's popular. Another addition is he got jailed back in Japan, if he stuck in Hawaii, I doubt 9 would feature Hawaii again (they'll most likely reuse Hawaii in spinoffs since that's a waste of a map) but Yamai being back in Japan gives him more of a shot to be relevant again with meeting Ichiban sooner.
Conspiracy theory: they took the demo fight out because kuze threatened them if they'd make him lose his most reocurring story bossfight in a single game trophy.
Are Yamai and Ibuchi the same person because they have the same VA? I'm just joking because the theories of Hanawa and Morinaga being the same person were just stupid asf
