All the medallists are so evidently appreciated by fans ..... but the enormous outpouring of love for Yuzuru from both Japanese and international fans (and commentators!) is truly astounding - and he so deserves it. His FS performance was stunning given this was his return to competition after 3-4 months off with a serious ligament and tendon ankle injury. There is no-one who can surpass him, even if they beat him on scores (a paraphrased quote from one of the Russian coaches - I think it was Mishin?)
I agree, that its not the scores that matters most but the actual performance. I repeatedly watched Yuzu's and some others, and it was superb just like all of his past performances. It is but one loss in score. What he has achieved, the awards, the recognition and most importantly his contribution to the Skating Profesdion is unprecedented. Nobody can compare to him yet. In but a span of 8 years..can anyone contest what he has achieve Skatingwise and Otherwise! Kudos also to his Coach Brian Orser and company, to his supporters the Japanes government, Media and Fans. And, most of all to his family. Yuzu... You're one of a kind, the Greatest of all Time,!
